QUEENSLANDRACING INTEGRITY COMMISSION STEWARDS REPORT IPSWICH TURF CLUB FRIDAY, 3 MARCH 2017 WEATHER – FINE TRACK RATING – GOOD 4/GOOD 3 AT 11.45 RAIL – 6M PENETROMETER – 4.0 OFFICIALS Chairman of Stewards – N. Carey General An inspection of the track by stewards at approximately 11.20 am revealed a section at the mouth of the 1350m shute that was deemed very wet and unsafe to race over. After consulting with Ipswich Club officials, stewards ordered that the running rail be moved in at least 2 metres from the 1350m shute and moved in 2 metres from the point on the course proper between the 1300m and 970m. Prior to Race 1 when the work had been completed, stewards and a delegation of senior riders revisited the section and gave their approval with the remedial work done. Race 1: Channel 7 QTIS 3yo Maiden Plate – 800m MAGIC INK – Fractious in the gates. COCKTAILSALLAROUND – Slow into stride. Lost its off hind plate in running. DREAM OF ASCOT – Began awkwardly. TYRANNY – Had to be steadied off heels approaching the 400m. SMOOCH – Had a tendency to lay in under pressure in the home straight. Apprentice B. Stower dropped her whip near the 300m. ROWDY RONDA – Raced greenly in the home straight. Raced wide without cover. TOECANARGIE MAN – Raced wide throughout. Race 2: Schweppes Maiden H'cap – 1010m ARGENT ETOILE – Slow to begin. WILD BOYS – Began awkwardly and made contact with the barrier partition on jumping away. KIMHORSEDASHIAN – Raced wide in the early stages. Raced greenly rounding the home turn. CUSHTY PRINCESS – Raced wide. WAR DRUM – Raced wide. BRAVADO MISS – Commenced to hang out after passing the 600m and eventually finished on the outside fence in the home straight. A post race veterinary examination revealed the filly to have some sharp teeth and cuts in its mouth. Trainer I. Livingstone was advised that the filly would have to pass an official trial prior to racing again. Jockey M. Cox explained that the filly has not been a problem in recent starts and was sound in its action on pulling up. Race 3: Sirromet Maiden Plate – 1609m When being checked into the enclosure, it was observed that SOVEREIGN STAR and A SPOTTE OF MAGIC were carrying the incorrect saddles. Both horses were subsequently returned to the tie up stalls and resaddled with their correct saddles before presenting to the enclosure. Trainer T. Sears was fined $200 for both horses with the incorrect gear. MUSGREY HILL – Fractious in the gates and then began awkwardly. After passing the 400m when racing greenly had a tendency to lay out and in doing so shifted out and became awkward, clipped the heels of OAKFIELD CECILIA, blundered and then took no competitive part for the remainder of the race. POET'S SOCIETY – Slow to begin. Hung out after passing the 600m. A SPOTTE OF MAGIC – Overraced in the early stages. OAKFIELD CECILIA – Raced wide in the early stages before improving to obtain a position outside the leader passing the 1200m. A post race veterinary examination of the mare revealed abnormal lung noises. Connections were advised that the mare would be required to undergo an endoscopic examination before racing again. Trainer B. Robinson advised that the mare would more than likely be leaving his stable. FUSI FOX – Laid out under riding over the concluding stages. TIZABEE - Raced 3 wide throughout without cover. GRAN SABANA – Raced 3 wide with cover. Race 4: Sky Racing BenchMark 70 H'cap – 1609m THE EQUALIZER – Had to be steadied and checked off heels approaching the 1300m when tightened for room, and then shortly afterwards overraced when the pace steadied. Jockey B. Appo, rider of STORMY GREY, was reprimanded and advised to show greater care when shifting ground. When questioned regarding the tactics adopted, jockey J. Byrne explained that he steadied after being slightly hampered in the early stages he got shuffled back to a rearward position with the slow tempo. He added that at a point passing the 800 no opportunity arose for him to improve on the back of another runner and therefore he elected to wait and not expose his mount to racing wide too early and was unable to gain clear running until a point rounding the home turn. He stated that the gelding ran on well over the concluding stages. SIPIN'BUNDY – Slow into stride and then overraced severely when restrained at the rear of the field until a point approaching the 1200m where jockey Bogenhuber elected to improve 3 wide and obtain a position 3 wide without cover midfield passing the 1100m. STORMY GREY – Slightly hampered when KALANDULA shifted out at the 200m. Race 5: Ray White Ipswich Class 1 H'cap – 1200m MAKE A RULER – Began awkwardly and made contact with another runner. PRESSWAY – Bumped on jumping away. When entering the straight had a tendency to lay in, and its rider was placed in some difficulty in attempting to come around the heels of that horse. PARANA – Slow to begin. RAINY DAY WOMAN – After passing the 700m had a tendency to hang out. INVINCIBLE STORM – Hung out approaching the 400m. CLEVER CHLOE – Held up for clear running after passing the 200m until the 100m. Race 6: The Qld Times F&M Class 2 H'cap – 1350m ONE GOLDEN DAY – Overraced in the lead and was inclined to hang out for the majority of the race. Trainer C. Anderson was advised that a warning would be placed on the racing manners of the filly. Race 7: City Of Ipswich CG&E Class 2 H'cap – 1350m CAPTAIN'S PICK – A pre-race veterinary examination of the horse, which was backing up from Beaudesert races on Tuesday, cleared the gelding to start. CAPTAIN DODGE - Declared a late scratching at 4.56 pm on veterinary advice after becoming cast in the barriers. Subsequent to the event all monies invested on the horse were ordered to be refunded with the following deductions applicable. 21 cents in the dollar on the face value of win bets14 cents in the dollar on the face value of place bets for the win21 cents in the dollar on the face value of 2nd place bets22 cents in the dollar on the face value of 3rd place bets Starting prices are subject to deductions. MAJOR SCOOP – Stood flatfooted at the start and missed the start by at least 3 lengths. Trainer M. Nolan will be advised that a warning would be placed on the horse. WINE BARREL – Overraced in the early and middle stages. Had a tendency to lay out after passing the 400m. WALTHAM – Bumped heavily by WINE BARREL passing the 800m.
