GENERAL
 
As M. McGillivray was riding at Townsville, L. Cheshire was riding at Grafton and J. Taylor was indisposed due to personal reasons, riding replacements were made as per the Stewards Race Day Summary.
 
Race 1: CITY OF IPSWICH 2YO MAIDEN PLATE – 1000M
 
TAPA TINE – Began awkwardly and lost significant ground. Rider T. Chambers was reminded of her obligations regarding the whip rules.
 
J. Orman and T. Chambers were stood down from their remaining engagements by the paramedics following their rides in this event and riding replacements were made as per the Stewards Race Day Summary.
 
Following the running of this event the track was upgraded to SOFT 5.
 
Race 2: ENJOY A SCHWEPPES QTIS 3YO C&G MAIDEN H'CAP – 1200M
 
THE SHEEPISH LION – Held up for clear running from a point passing the 400m until entering the straight.
 
BLACK CRUSADE – Began awkwardly. Hung in in the home straight.
 
TYRANNY – Bumped after jumping. Weakened in the home straight after leading in the early stages. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no significant findings.
 
LITTLE MISTER – As J. Orman had been stood down by the paramedics, T. Harrison was substituted as rider.
 
Race 3: CHANNEL 7 NEWS MAIDEN PLATE – 1666M
 
BAY DREAMER – Slow into stride. Had a tendency to lay in over the final 100m.
 
LONELY HEARTS CLUB – Overraced when being restrained in the early stages.
 
SAN ANDREAS – Began awkwardly. Bumped when attempting to improve between runners at the 400m.
 
PEXBURY AVENUE – Bumped on jumping.
 
HEART OF A REBEL – Caught wide in the early stages, then improved passing the 1000m to obtain a position outside the leader.
 
QUEEN GEE – Bumped slightly by SALUTE THE PRINCE passing the 100m.
 
SALUTE THE PRINCE – Had a tendency to shift out under pressure over the concluding stages.
 
WISHIPOUR – Late scratching at 8:29 am. After taking initial evidence from trainer D. Murphy, stewards adjourned an inquiry into the reasons for the horse not being scratched by the prescribed time.
 
Race 4: SIRROMET WINERY MAIDEN PLATE – 800M
 
TEMUJIN’S RULE – Hampered on jumping between BLEU and HIDDEN SEQUEL, which shifted out.
 
BLEU – Raced wide rounding the home turn.
 
GOOD GRACIOUS MAE – Fractious in the barriers. Hampered on jumping between BAIT, which shifted out, and MISS MANEUVER, which shifted in.
 
MISS MANEUVER – After being fractious in the enclosure the horse made contact with the outside gate on leaving the enclosure. Underwent a veterinary examination at the barriers and cleared to race. Inclined to hang out rounding the home turn. L. Tarrant reported that in his opinion the horse felt lame. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no significant findings.
 
SWISS MADEMOISELLE – Raced wide rounding the home turn.
 
MIND THIEF – Raced wide rounding the home turn.
 
Race 5: RAY WHITE IPSWICH RATINGS BAND 0 – 58 H'CAP – 800M
 
ARGYLL BAY – Had to be steadied off heels passing the 100m when attempting to improve between LUSHNESS and LE JEU where there was insufficient room. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no significant findings.
 
LUSHNESS – Began awkwardly. Raced wide throughout. Hung out rounding the home turn.
 
HIDDEN ANGEL – Slow to begin. Hung out rounding the home turn.
 
Race 6: THE QLD TIMES QTIS 3YO FILLIES MAIDEN H'CAP – 1200M
 
ROCK GARDEN – Hung out badly after passing the 700m and ran to the outside fence, where the horse raced for the remainder of the event. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no significant findings. Trainer D. Forster was advised that the horse will be required to perform satisfactorily in an official trial before being permitted to race again.
 
BRENDABELLE – Raced three wide without cover throughout. A post-race veterinary examination revealed the filly to be lame in the near fore fetlock. Trainer J. Pritchard was advised that she will be required to produce a veterinary clearance for the horse prior to its next start.
 
SAINT ELEMENT – Began awkwardly. Commenced to overrace passing the 700m and had to be steadied off the heels of CLIMATE.
 
FOXY LOXY – Raced wide without cover throughout. Beaten almost 25 lengths. Trainer B. Robinson was advised that a warning would be placed on the filly for its poor performance.
 
Race 7: SKY RACING CLASS 3 H'CAP – 1666M
 
PLENTY SPECIAL – Slow to begin.
 
NAPAYSHINI – J. Byrne was fined $200 for using the whip more than 5 times prior to the 100m.
 
NAUTILUS – Trainer P. Duncan was fined $100 for the late declaration of T. Brooker as rider. The veterinary surgeon reported that the horse made an abnormal respiratory noise post-race. Trainer P. Duncan was advised that the horse will require a veterinary clearance, including the results of an endoscopic examination, prior to being permitted to race again.
 
HOORIYA – Slow to begin.
 
DAZZLING SHIRAZ – Began awkwardly.
 
Race 8: LABOUR DAY FUN DAY 1 MAY CLASS 1 H'CAP – 1100M
 
MISS CHATTERING – Hampered on jumping between DREAMER’S GOAL, which shifted out, and LE COURONNEMENT, which shifted in.
 
PUDMARDELS – Late scratching at 10:41 am. Trainer L. Mayfield-Smith was fined $100 for failing to scratch the horse by the prescribed time.
 
GIVUS A CUDDLE – Began awkwardly. Raced three wide without cover throughout.
 
LI’L PIPPA – Bumped on jumping by GIVUS A CUDDLE, which shifted out.
 
DREAMER’S GOAL – T. Brooker was substituted as the rider of this runner when A. Spinks advised that he was to be overweight after taking the ride when J. Orman was ill. Began awkwardly and lost ground. Had to be steadied from the heels of another runner when overracing at the 700m. Had to alter course abruptly on straightening to obtain clear running.
