ScrivenStewards Secretary – S Rolls SUPPLEMENTARY From Doomben Meeting 20/5/2017 – Race 8 Trainer J. Richards reported that blood and veterinary tests conducted on SPLURGE following its poor failed to reveal any abnormalities. Mr Richards indicated that despite being disappointed in the performance they would continue with its current preparation and nominate the horse for the Mirvac Moreton Cup at Eagle Farm on Saturday 3 June 2017 before determining whether the horse will continue onto the Stradbroke Handicap. GENERAL As P. Hammersley was indisposed due to illness stewards permitted rider changes as per the Stewards Race Day Summary. Race 1: Channel 7 QTIS 3YO H’Cap – 2190m As both App M. McGillivray and B. Pengelly were indisposed due to transport difficulties stewards permitted App T. Brooker to be substituted as the rider of SHARP SPEEDO and B. Stewart as the rider of NAMIB. ALCHEMY GOLD – Stood flatfooted and was slow to begin. When the pace was slow after passing the 1600m was allowed to stride forward to obtain a position outside the leader near the 1350m. After passing the 600m commenced to weaken and finished a distant last. A post race veterinary examination revealed the filly to have bled from both nostrils. Trainer K. Cotsiopoulous was advised that the filly would incur a mandatory 3 month ban from racing and must gallop satisfactorily over 1000m in the presence of a steward prior to racing again. TISANI GREY – Overraced in the run to the winning post on the first occasion and made the turn out of the straight awkwardly. CONGELATOR – Overraced after passing the 1600m and was allowed to stride forward 3 wide to obtain a position outside the leader approaching the 1100m. SHARPE SPEEDO – Cast a near fore plate during running. B. Stewart (NAMIB) was reprimanded for using his whip 8 times prior to the 100m. In assessing penalty stewards took into account the totality of jockey Stewart’s whip use. Race 2: Infield DJ Festival Maiden SW Plate – 2190m As B. Stewart was overweight stewards permitted L. Rolls to be substituted as the rider of GLAMOUR BOY. Jockey Stewart was subsequently fined $100. DIVISIONAL – Overraced in the early stages and made the turn out of the straight awkwardly. COLONEL KELLY – After racing wide in the early stages was allowed to stride forward to obtain a position outside the leader approaching the 1400m. After passing the 600m commenced to hang in under pressure and continued to do so for the remainder of the event and proved difficult to ride out in the home straight. MALDITA – Raced 3 wide after passing the 800m and continued to do so for the remainder. Race 3: Riverlink Fashions On The Field Maiden SW Plate – 1200m WOLF TALES – Slow to begin. Approaching the 400m had to be steadied away from heels and was then held up for a short distance rounding the home turn FRENCH DESCENT – Began awkwardly. Passing the 300m had to be steadied away from heels and shifted wider on the track to improve. C’MOME PADDYREILLY – Began awkwardly. Raced 3 wide without cover throughout. NIGHT WHISPER – Hampered between runners on jumping. VOUCH FOR ME – Bumped on a number of occasions passing the 800m. Commenced to weaken over the final stages and tailed off. A post race veterinary examination revealed the gelding to be suffering from cardiac arrhythmia. Trainer D. Newham was advised that the gelding must trial satisfactorily and a veterinary certificate must be produced, which includes the results of an ECG, prior to the gelding racing again. SNIPPY STRATEGIC – Bumped on a number of occasions passing the 800m. ROSE GARDEN – Raced wide rounding the home turn. BAIT – Raced wide with cover throughout. AITHNE – Jockey J. Lloyd reported that the filly made an abnormal respiratory noise following the race and in his opinion may have choked down during the race. Jockey Lloyd indicated that a tongue tie would be added at its next start. Race 4: Buy Now 1866 On The Green QTIS 3YO Maiden SW Plate – 1020m The start was delayed when VERILY proved difficult to load. Trainer L. Tipper was advised that a warning would be placed against the filly’s barrier manners. RAVEN’S WING – Slow to begin. Held up rounding the home turn and unable to obtain clear running until approaching the 150m. FALLEN FOR YOU – Bumped on jumping. Rounding the first turn shifted out and bumped JEXERLENT, which was forced wider. Commenced to overrace passing the 800m. JEXERLENT – Bumped on jumping. Steadied away from heels approaching the 400m when MR ATTITUDE shifted out momentarily and was then held up rounding the home turn. APACHE BOOM – Had to be steadied away from the heels of JEXERLENT passing the 800m. Laid out rounding the home turn. PUNDIT – Approaching the 600m shifted out making contact with FALLEN FOR YOU, which was in turn forced wider out onto BAGGINS and HIDDEN STORM, which were both taken wider at this point and raced wide from that point onwards. Raced greenly in the home straight. MR ATTITUDE – Held up rounding the home turn. Following the running of this event the track was upgraded to a Soft 5. Race 5: The Savco Stud QTIS 2YO Class 1 SW Plate – 1520m DRUMEOUS – Began awkwardly and shifted in bumping ROTHFORD. Raced greenly in the early stages and shifted in passing the 800m tightening another runner. ROTHFORD – Bumped at the start. Overraced in the early and middle stages and got its head up on a number of occasions when being restrained. Raced wide without cover after passing 600m. Had a tendency to lay in under pressure in the home straight. LUCKY FEELING – Hampered between runners on jumping. WAKE UP JEFF – After racing wide in the early stages was allowed to stride forward passing the 1000m to obtain the lead. Hung out rounding the home turn. SILKY BROWN – Raced 3 wide without cover from the 800m until obtaining a position outside the leader near the 600m. PABULUM – Passing the 800m when overracing was bumped by another runner. WIRRAWAY – Passing the 800m was bumped heavily and brushed the running rail becoming unbalanced. Stewards at a subsequent inquiry after taking evidence from riders M. Hellyer (DRUMEOUS), L. Dittman (WIRRAWAY) and App T. Brooker (PABULUM) and viewing the patrol footage stewards could not apportion blame to any one rider and therefore took no further action. RELIABLE LASS – Raced wide without cover from the 700m. Race 6: Bill ‘Antonio’ Savige’s 40th Class 2 H’Cap – 1520m PINOLINO – Fractious in the barriers. Held up rounding the home turn. INGEEGOODBE – Slow to begin. WICKED TRILOGY – Began awkwardly and lost ground. AHMAH STAR – After racing wide in the early stages was allowed to stride forward to obtain the lead approaching the 1100m. RED SILHOUETTE – Approaching the 500m was slightly hampered when GREY STEYNE shifted out. B. Stewart (GREY STEYNE) was reprimanded for using his whip 7 times prior to the 100m. In assessing penalty stewards took into account the totality of jockey Stewart’s whip use. Race 7: The Love Doctor Class 5 H’Cap – 1700m HARADIFY – Kicked behind the barriers prior to the start, examined by the veterinary surgeon and cleared to start. Raced 3 wide without cover throughout. ROGALI – Held up from the 400m until entering the straight. Shifted out at the 200m and was bumped heavily becoming unbalanced. SPIRIT OF KIOWA – Shifted in at the 200m and was bumped heavily becoming unbalanced. Jockey R. Fradd lost his whip in this incident. EIGHT BELOW – Raced wide rounding the home turn. Shifted ground under pressure over the final 100m. Race 8: Cup Day 17 June Fillies & Mares Ratings Band 0-70 H’Cap – 1200m LADY DUPORTH - Slow to begin. FLEUR D’ORAGE – Slow to begin. START DREAMIN – Began awkwardly. Overraced and raced 3 wide throughout. CRIQUETTE – Bumped on jumping. DESIRABLE MISS – Passing the 800m had to be steadied away from heels. ELEIVUE – Passing the 600m had to be steadied away from heels when the pace was steadied. Held up rounding the home turn until a point approaching the 200m. Race 9: Marquee Tix Selling Fast Fillies & Mares Ratings Band 0-70 H’Cap – 1200m OVERSTATEMENT – Stood flatfooted and missed the start by a considerable distance. Co-trainer B. Rodgers was advised that the mare will require a further barrier certificate before racing again. SWINDLERS MISS – Slow to begin. Raced 3 wide with cover throughout. NILETTE – Held up rounding the home turn and in the early stages of the home straight. SHELTER LADY – Difficulty obtaining clear running in the early stages of the home straight and was held up until passing the 150m. KICK ‘N’ TEL – On straightening had a tendency to lay in and had to be steadied off the heels of another runner. Raced 3 wide with cover throughout. A post race veterinary examination revealed the mare to be suffering from mild heat stress. HAD ME AT HELLO – Raced 3 wide without cover throughout. Race 10: Beach Party On Sale C, G & E Ratings Band 0-70 H’Cap – 1200m CARRANGALL – Began awkwardly and shifted in abruptly. Raced wide without cover throughout. TAMBO’S HEART – Severely hampered on jumping. In the early part of the straight had to be steadied away from heels and shifted wider to obtain clear running. I DO CARE - Severely hampered on jumping. Jockey C. Whiteley reported his mount hung throughout the event. REAL GOOD – Raced 3 wide without cover throughout. CHAMPAGNE ROCK – Jockey T. Harrison reported at scale that the gelding had a tendency to hang out rounding the home turn. Race 11: XXXX Summer Tix On Sale C, G & E Ratings Band 0-70 – 1200m BARNSLEY – Began awkwardly and shifted in resulting in its rider becoming unbalanced. SELFIE – Raced wide rounding the home turn. WHO’S YOUR DADDY – Brushed the running rail of its own accord passing the 700m. Approaching the 400m was slightly hampered when racing in restricted room to the inside of NEPTUNE PALACE and to the outside of BARNSLEY, both of which shifted slightly.
