Carey __________________________ Race 1: RDS Civil Maiden Plate 2210m SIR ROTHEWAY Connections advised that with the additions of blinkers today the gelding would be ridden in a more forward position than normal. The horse was ridden accordingly. STAR ECHO Jockey J. Lloyd was fined $300 for weighing out in a modified vest. Slow to begin and lost considerable ground. Laid out rounding the home turn. MAJESTIC SHADOW Began awkwardly. LEGACY WARS Bumped on jumping away. Approaching the home turn was buffeted when racing in restricted room when SIR ROTHEWAY shifted out slightly. When questioned regarding the performance of the horse, jockey A. Allen stated that the horse never travelled well at any stage of the event and, in his opinion, may not have handled the soft track conditions today.. A post race veterinary examinationn failed to reveal any significant abnormalities. STORMY LEO Hung out rounding the first turn passing the winning post. REAL ROMANCE Made the turn out of the straight awkwardly and shifted out and then raced ungenerously.. At a point passing the 1500m shifted to a 3 wide position where it was positioned for the remainder of the race.. Connections were advised that the maree would be barred from racing in provincial areas until its form improves at non-TAB venues. MISPRINT Trainer J. Zielke reported the horse was coughing post race.. A subsequent veterinary examination failed to reveal any significant abnormalities. > Race 2:: Professional Finance Solutions Class 1 HHcap 1020m VOL VALLEE Knuckled on jumping away and lost considerable ground. When the pace slackened passing the 800m shifted wider on the track to improve and obtained a position outside the leader approaching the 400m. ALL PLUCK After passing the 800m when the pace slackened had to be steadied away from heels and then commenced to overrace for a short distance.. Held up after passing the 400m and rounding the home turn.. Hampered approaching the 200m when racing in restricted room to the inside of MACCS GAL, which shifted in. THE MECHANIC Overraced in the early and middle stages. STYLIAN -- Had to be checked passing the 200m after improving on to heels. LA RANA TORO Raced 3 wide without cover throughout. Race 3: Trent Scott Plumbing Class 5 HHcap 1708m MONTRER DAME Slow to begin. EXCELLENT SPIRIT Raced 3 wide without cover in the early stages before improving to obtain a position outside the lead approaching the 1300m. SHOTACROSS THE BOW Overraced in the early and middle stages. BOLD KINGSTON Bumped passing the 1300m by another runner.. On return to scale jockey R. Plumb indicated that the gelding did not handle the soft track conditions today. Race 4: Lyndons Maiden HHcap 1350m MIAZUMI Slow to begin. CANUNGRA KID Began awkwardly and lost some ground. THE PINKERTON Raced wide from a point passing the 700m. GIFTOFLIFE Held up for a short distance passing the 400m. ROLLING CLOUD When questioned regarding the performance, jockey J. Byrne stated that the mare never travelled comfortably at any stage of the race and failed to quicken over the concluding stages and, in his opinion, may not have handled the soft track conditions. Race 5: Gibb Accountant Class 2 HHcap 1200m APPLAUSE A STAR -- Reared as the start was effected and lost considerable ground. FREEZEN EASY Began awkwardly. Forced wider rounding the home turn by another runner.. Inclined to lay in under pressure over the concluding stages. FORT MYER Raced in a 3 wide position without cover in the early stages. CASCATA ROSSA ? Approaching the 900m, had to be steadied away from the heels of FORT MYER when thee pace steadied, and then shifted wider on the track to avoid heels and raced in that position for the remainder of the race.. Nearing the home turn commenced to lay out and then was shifted wider by another runner rounding the home turn. ARGYLL BAY Hampered on jumping away and subsequently raced further back than its normal racing pattern. Passing the 800m commenced to overrace and got its head up on a number of occasions. RAINBOW SPIRIT Shifted out to obtain clear running rounding the home turn, forcing runners to his outside wider on the track. CORDER Forced wider rounding the home turn by another runner. Race 6: Swifts Sports Club Class 2 HHcap 1350m>TURKANA Change of tactics. Connections advised that the horse would be ridden in a more forward position. On jumping was bumped on a number of occasions and was unable to muster early speed and settled in the second half of the field. PRINCE OF FLINDERS Ridden forward to obtain the lead, and after passing the 1000m commenced to overrace and had a tendency to lay out rounding the home turn.. When questioned regarding the tactics adopted today, jockey M. Hellyer advised that his instructions were to be positive out of the barriers and attempt to obtain a forward position.. Trainer Mr P. Duff confirmed the instructions, however added that as the stallion had not raced for over a month and was on the fresh side it commenced to overrace and showed more speed than he had anticipated.. Whilst noting his explanation, Mr Duff was nevertheless advised of his obligations regarding notification of any change of tactics. DOUBLE SUPERLATIVE Began awkwardly. On return to scale jockey J. Lloyd advised that his mount travelled well in the early and middle stages however failed to respond over the concluding stages and, in his opinion, may not have handled the soft track conditions today. STRATALENA Slightly hampered between runners shortly after the start. DUTCH TREAT Raced 3 wide from the 800m onwards. Race 7: Swifts Bowls Club Class 1 HHcap 1708m HELL OF A TIME Slow to begin. CAPE DENISON -- Bumped on jumping away.. Overraced in the early and middle stages. BAR FLY BARRISTER Bumped on jumping away. Forced wider by another runner rounding the home turn. Had aa tendency to lay in in the early part of the home straight. JUST TRUCKINN Hung out approaching the home turn.. Had a tendency to lay in under pressure in the home straight. CUSHTY PRINCESS Forced wider by JUST TRUCKINN rounding the home turn. FUTURE EVENT Forced wider by another runner rounding the home turn.. Approaching the 200m was obliged to alter course back to the inside to obtain clear runningg when awkwardly placed at the heels of CUSHTY PRINCESS, which shifted out. SAME OLDD - Rider J.
