Race 1: RACING @ IPSWICH SATURDAY 23/09/17 C,G&E BENCHMARK 65 H'CAP 1000M
 
STELLARCRAFT Slow to begin. When questioned regarding his riding rounding the home turn and in the home straight, apprentice J. Guthmann-Chester stated that rounding the home turn he was committed to a run to the inside of CAPTAIN LEO as he believed there was an opportunity to his inside. He added that approaching the 300m CAPTAIN LEO shifted in slightly, resulting in him being disappointed for a run and having to steady his mount, which lost momentum. He added he then shifted out to obtain clear running, however ADERITO had improved quickly to his outside and he was again disappointed for clear running. Stewards noted his comments.
 
ROUBAIX Bumped at the start. Shifted in approaching the 300m when awkwardly placed at the heels of CAPTAIN TANGO, bumped ADERITO and blundered.
 
ADERITO Began awkwardly, shifted in and bumped ROUBAIX.
 
CAPTAIN TANGO J. Lloyd reported at scale that his mount overraced for the majority of the event.
 
Following the running of this event the track was upgraded to GOOD 3 retrospective.
 
Race 2: FREE FAMILY DAY 23RD SEPTEMBER QTIS 3YO CLASS 3 PLATE 1666M
 
The start of this race was delayed when SURPRISE BULLET proved reluctant to load.
 
FALCON WAY G. Colless reported that following the poor performance the gelding was making an abnormal respiratory noise. A post-race veterinary examination confirmed this and the veterinary surgeon reported that he had recommended to the trainer that the gelding undergo an endoscopic examination prior to its next start. A swab sample was taken from the gelding.
 
SURPRISE BULLET Raced keenly in the early stages.
 
LADY LARK Began awkwardly. Raced three wide without cover throughout.
 
Race 3: TRENT SCOTTTS PLUMBING CLASS 2 H'CAP 1200M
 
CAPITAL CONNECTION Connections advised that it would be the intention to have the horse ridden with cover. The horse was ridden accordingly. Had to be steadied near the 500m after improving onto the heels of AGHNA.
 
IN AKITA R. Fradd reported at scale that his mount was exhibiting a cough post-race. The veterinary surgeon confirmed this and advised that he had recommended to the trainer that the mare undergo an endoscopic examination prior to its next start. Trainer D. Bell advised that the horse would be sent for a spell.
 
Race 4: LANDMARK LEADERS STAKES MAIDEN H'CAP 1350M
 
MARK MY WORD Placed in restricted room for a short distance passing the 400m.
 
PUNKENSTEIN Laid out under pressure over the concluding stages. When questioned regarding the horsees seemingly improved performance, trainer D. Duryea stated that at its last start the gelding had become fractious in the barriers and lost significant ground at the start. She added that along with a spell and gear changes the gelding had improved its barrier manners after competing in two trials and as a result she expected a forward showing today.
 
SHINING BLUE Raced wide from the 700m. M. Hellyer reported that his mount was inclined to lay out rounding the home turn.
 
HUSSONNS PRIDE Restrained shortly after the start to assume a position at the rear of the field.
 
KRUPSKAYA Held up rounding the home turn and for a short distance in the home straight.
 
SHESEES EVERYTHING Hampered shortly after the start. Crowded for room near the 1000m when MUSIC BOX was taken in.
 
MUSIC BOX Had to be eased from the heels of PUNKENSTEIN near the 1000m when that runner shifted in. Raced three wide without cover throughout.
 
Race 5: TONY WILLIAMS MEMORIAL MAIDEN PLATE 1666M
 
DARING DEEDS Shifted out under pressure over the concluding stages when tiring.
 
DRAGON RACER Shifted in at the start and bumped SHONECK AFFAIR. Commenced to overrace in the early stages while being restrained to obtain a position with cover.
 
SHONECK AFFAIR Bumped at the start. Bumped by CALDERA GIRL which shifted out to improve approaching the 400m.
 
SWEET RED WINE Began awkwardly. Held up approaching and passing the 400m and approaching the 300m had to be steadied when tightened for room between VELLEITY and DROVER'S YARN, which had commenced to weaken.
 
VELLEITY As R. Plumb was indisposed due to illness, J. Orman was substituted as rider.
 
CALDERA GIRL Momentarily held up rounding the home turn.
 
HEART OF A REBEL Apprentice H. Englishhs saddle slipped near the 1200m, placing her at a disadvantage for the remainder of the event.
 
ISLAND SUNSET Began awkwardly. Overraced in the early stages.
 
DROVERRS YARN After being caught racing wide in the early stages the colt was allowed to improve forward to obtain a position on off near the 1100m.
 
Race 6: DALGETY ANIMAL HEALTH STAKES CLASS 3 H'CAP 1350M
 
OCEAN CITY Buffeted between runners at the start.
 
SKYSCRAPER Held up passing the 400m. Upon entering the home straight was placed in restricted room when attempting a narrow run to the inside of LETTS PARTY MARTY, which was inclined to lay out and was also bumped.
 
DANE JESTER Raced wide in the early stages before obtaining a position outside the leader near the 900m.
 
LETTS PARTY MARTY Inclined to lay out upon entering the home straight and was bumped by another runner.
 
Race 7: LOVELAND PROPRIETARY PRODUCTS F&M BENCHMARK 65 H'CAP 1000M
 
The declaration of correct weight was delayed to afford apprentice R. Ride, the rider of ONE IN ONE OUT, the opportunity of viewing the patrol footage of the start to ascertain whether she had grounds on which to make an application for her mount to be declared a non-runner. After viewing the films it was established that the mare became fractious and reared as the start was effected and lost significant ground. Accordingly, stewards deemed the horse to be a runner and correct weight was declared. Trainer S. Watters was advised that the mare would require a further barrier certificate.
 
SHEES RIGHT Late scratching at 2:07 pm on veterinary advice that the horse had sustained an injury en route to the course.
 
NOOR DROPPER Raced three wide without cover throughout.
 
ROYAL HOOTENANNY Trainer C. Munce was fined $200 for the late declaration of apprentice Z. White as rider. Laid in under pressure in the home straight.
 
HI SEXY Late scratching at 1:18 pm when stewards acceded to a request from trainer D. Joice to scratch the mare due to the track being upgraded to GOOD 3.
 
MS SARANDON Slow to begin.
 
LADY MICAELA Stewards accepted trainer B. Costelloos explanation for the late declaration of M. Cahill as rider.
 
Race 8: WIN FREE FOR A YEAR 23 SEPTEMBER CLASS 2 H'CAP 1666M
 
SKY TEAM Forced wider approaching the 600m.
 
DISTROYIA After being caught racing wide in the early stages was allowed to stride forward and assume the lead near the 1000m.
 
IRON CRAFT Had to be steadied shortly after the start when tightened for room. Shifted out to improve approaching the 600m and in doing so forced SKY TEAM wider. Raced in restricted room in the early stages of the home straight and near the 300m had to be eased from the heels of SKY TEAM which shifted in under pressure.
 
ZOFF OF THE WORLD Raced in restricted room rounding the home turn and in the early stages of the home straight. M. Cahill reported at scale that the gelding failed to show sufficient speed at the start and as a result was unable to obtain a forward position, which he attributed to the ear muffs being on for the first time.
 
DIAMOND METEOR A post-race veterinary examination revealed no abnormalities.
 
PINK MOSCATO After making contact with the outside fence, the mare was examined behind the barriers by the veterinary surgeon and cleared to take its place in the field. Shifted out at the start and bumped DUBLEOOS LAD. Had to be steadied away from the heels of ZOFF OF THE WORLD near the 400m when that runner shifted out after improving on to heels.
 
DUBLEOOS LAD Bumped at the start. Checked when tightened for room approaching the 400m when attempting a tight run between FAVOURED GRACE, which shifted in slightly, and QUEEN CONSORT, which shifted out. After stewards inquired into the incident, it was established that although both FAVOURED GRACE and QUEEN CONSORT had contributed to the incident, L. Tarrant, the rider of QUEEN CONSORT, was nonetheless reprimanded and advised to show greater care in similar circumstances.
 
QUEEN CONSORT A post-race veterinary examination revealed no abnormalities.
