GENERAL
 
Stewards opened an inquiry into a report that stablehand Mr M. Jeynes had struck a horse in the head with his hand in the vicinity of a wash bay in the horse stall area.. After taking evidence, Mr Jeynes pleaded guilty to a charge under the provisions of AR175A and he was subsequently fined $200.
 
 
Race 1: Beersheba Day Maiden SW Plate 2170m

TERGRANDE Began awkwardly.
 
HEART OF A REBEL Bumped on jumping away.
 
 
Race 2: Bill The Bastardd Jennifer Howard MP QTIS 3YO Class 1 SW Plate 800m
 
As B. Stewart was delayed due to transport difficulties stewards permitted T. Harrison to be substituted as the rider of MY KASHKARD.
 
WICKED KNICKERS Fractious in the gates.
 
OUR MYSTIFY Bounded on jumping and became unbalanced behind.
 
WUDANG BLADE Laid out rounding the home turn and bumpedMIRACLE STAR.
MIRACLE STAR Had a tendency to lay in rounding the home turn and became unbalanced when bumped by WUDANG BLADE, which shifted out.
 
MY KASHKARD Over the final 200m had a tendency to lay in and raced very greenly.. Jockey T. Harrison reported after the race the gelding was making an abnormal respiratory noise.. Trainer B. Azel was advised that a veterinary certificate together with the results of an endoscope will be required prior to the gelding racing again.
 
 
 
Race 3: Clift Pearce Class 1 HHCap 1680m
.
Trainer S. OOdea was fined $100 for the late notification of P. Hammersley as the rider of EQUISTAR.
 
SHINNECOCK After racing wide in the early stages was allowed to stride forward with the slow tempo to obtain a position outsider the leader passing the 1200m.. Jockey J. Lloyd reported at scale that his mount had a tendency to hang out throughout the race.
 
KIRINNS STAR Overraced in the early and middle stages and on a number of occasions had to be restrained from heels.. Held up rounding the home turn and had difficulty obtaining clear running until a point approaching the 200m.. A post race veterinary examination revealed the gelding had lacerations on the near hind leg as a result of being galloped on.
 
MAGIC KITTY Held up for clear running after entering the straight and was disappointed on a couple of occasions and did not obtain clear running and went to the line without being fully tested.
 
SAME OLD Raced 3 wide without cover throughout.. Stable representative for trainer P. Balzen was advised that a warning would be placed on the gelding after it was difficult to load.

Race 4: K M Smith Funeral Directors Maiden HHCap 1200m
 
RED BLANKET Slow to begin.. After passing the winning post became awkwardly placed behind ROTINDY, who was shifting out, and then shied in away from that horse resulting in App S. Sweeney (RED BLANKET) becoming unbalanced and eventually being dislodged.. App Sweeney was subsequently examined by QAS officials and cleared to fulfil her remaining engagement in Race 5.
 
LILLANLIV Slow to begin.
 
KYLIEES KISSES Began awkwardly.
 
SPLITTER Passing the 500m when attempting to obtain clear running was awkwardly placed and had to be restrained off the heels of RAVENNS WING.
 
INSTANTANEOUS Passing the 400m when racing in restricted room had to be steadied away from the heels of WAS AGONA.
 
TIME TO REMEMBER Approaching the 250m had to be steadied away from the heels of RAVENNS WING and then shifted in to obtain clear running.. A post race veterinary examination revealed the gelding had sustained lacerations to the near hind leg.
 
HOLD ON Approaching the 200m was disappointed for a run, awkwardly placed at the heels of TIME TO REMEMBER and shifted in in an attempt to obtain clear running but was unable to do so and had to be steadied away from the heels of TIME TO REMEMBER.
 
ROTINDY Tendency to lay in over the concluding stages obliging its rider to stop riding approaching the winning post.. Raced wide throughout.
 
DANGER ANNIE Raced wide without cover throughout.. When questioned regarding the improved performance trainer B. Ahrens stated that the mare has been sluggishly away from inside barriers at its last couple of starts, whereas today the mare jumped cleanly from a wide barrier and travelled up on the speed due to the step up from the 1000m to the 1200m of todayys event.. He added that he feels the mare may have appreciated racing wide without horses around her and was surprised after having such a wide run the mare was still able to finish the race off as she did.. He further added that he has had some hoof issues with the mare in recent times and has changed her training routine to include swimming and the softer track of todayys race may have been to her advantage.. Stewards noted his explanation.

Race 5: CSI Midnight Class 1 HHCap 800m
 
HOOKED A BEAUTY Slow to begin.
 
DUBLE MEANING Slow to begin.
 
SCRIPTS Hung out rounding the home turn.
 
HONOUR PROMISE Raced wide and then hung out rounding the home turn.
 
VOL VALLEE Held up from the 400m until straightening.
 
HIDDEN SEQUEL Jockey R. Williams reported at scale that her mount hung out for the entire event.
 
 
 
Race 6: Active Body Conditioning Lighthorse Class 2 HHCap 1100m
 
As R. Plumb was indisposed due to personal reasons stewards permitted J. Byrne to be substituted as the rider of FORT MYER.
 
OUR ROCK OOREILLY struck its head in the barriers, was removed, examined by the veterinary surgeon and was subsequently withdrawn by order of stewards acting on veterinary advice at 4.07 p.m.. All monies invested on OUR ROCK OOREILLY were ordered to be refunded.. Deductions applicable to bets placed on the winner and place-getters prior to 4.07 p.m.:-
 
12 cents in the dollar for the win - #2 (FORT MYER)
14 cents in the dollar for the place of winner - #2 (FORT MYER)
7 cents in the dollar for the 2nd place - #1 (VALLESECO)
15 cents in the dollar for the 3rd place - #8 (APPLAUSE A STAR)
 
OVER THE VENTURE Began awkwardly.
 
VALLESECO Bumped heavily on jumping.
 
APPLE JACK Bumped and hampered shortly after the start.
CLANG AGAIN Overraced in the early stages.. Held up in the early stages of the home straight.
 
 
 
 
 
 
Race 7: Polygon Wood Class 3 HHCap 1350m
 
As C. Bayliss was indisposed due to injury stewards permitted T. Brooker to be substituted as the rider of BRUMBY JACK.
 
BRUMBY JACK Slow to begin.
 
A NEW SOUND Began awkwardly.. Rounding the home turn had to be slightly steadied when awkwardly placed at the heels of PRINCE OF FLINDERS.
 
DAMN FINE Slow to begin and was then bumped shortly thereafter.
 
THE MONK Forced wider passing the 600m when PRINCE OF FLINDERS shifted out to improve.. Raced 3 wide for the majority.
 
PSYCHO SAID SO Bumped by RAINBOW SPIRIT and in turn shifted out and bumped PRINCE OF FLINDERS on the home turn.
