Also at the mouth of the 1350m chute where it joins the course proper there was surface water which deemed it to be unsafe for racing. Stewards after consultation with Racing Queensland and Club officials elected to alter the 1700m starting point to become 1550m and the 1350m starts to become 1200m. Race 1: Melbourne Cup Lunch On Sale Now Maiden SW Plate 1550m The stable representative for trainer M. Costa was advised that a $100 fine would be issued for the late declaration of S. GALLOWAY as the rider of LAST CRY. The start was delayed when LAST CRY had to be replated prior to the start. LAST CRY The stable representative for trainer M. Costa advised the horse would be ridden more forward today if circumstances permit. The horse settled back in the field. VELLEITY Bumped on jumping. MAJOR LUCK - Bumped on jumping. Held up approaching the home turn. Became awkward at the heels of PRINCELY SUM just after straightening and had to shift out. ARISTOCAT Held up approaching the home turn. SPUR ME PURPLE Held up in the early stages of the home straight and then had difficulty obtaining clear running until the 100m. Stewards questioned jockey J. Lloyd regarding the tactics adopted on the gelding. Jockey J. Lloyd stated his instructions were to obtain cover where possible. He added that after beginning fairly he was of the view that the runners to his inside began much better than him and he elected to restrain and go back to find a position closer to the rail with cover rather than press forward and be caught wide.. Stewards noted his explanation. KASTANOS Bumped by ARISTOCAT just after straightening. PRINCELY SUM Bumped by KASTANOS at the 300m. Race 2: Book Your Xmas Party At ITC QTIS 3YO Benchmark 65 Handicap 1550m The start was delayed when race day staff were required to recapture ARISTOCRAT, which had escaped from the stabling precinct and ventured onto the road. NATURAL FORCE Began awkwardly and shifted out. SHE SALUTES Bumped on jumping. Raced 3 wide after passing the 700m. App E. Ljung the rider of HANG was found guilty of a charge of careless riding under AR137(a) in that passing the 1350m she allowed her mount to shift in when insufficiently clear of HI LIZZY, which was forced in onto SIR CASS,, which had to be checked and lose its rightful running. App Ljungs licence to ride in races was suspended for a period of nine (9) days to commence midnight 28 October 2017 and expire midnight 6 November 2017. In assessing penalty stewards took into account her good recent record regarding this rule. HANG Had a tendency to lay in under pressure in the home straight. Cast a near hind plate in running. Race 3: Book Your Xmas Raceday Function At ITC Maiden SW Plate 1200m ARTERIAL Slow to begin. LADY EIGHTY EIGHT Held up from the 400m until entering the home straight. WOODDITTON Trainer S. Lee advised stewards that after todays performance the mare would be sent for a spell. The track was upgraded to a Soft 7 following the running of this event. Race 4: Channel 7 QTIS 3YO Maiden SW Plate 1200m As T. Patel was indisposed due to illness stewards permitted R. Stewart to be substituted as the rider of VIENNA MOON. Trainer D. Hansen was fined $100 for the late declaration of J. Byrne as the rider of BAT A KAT. BIGGER THAN TEXAS Slow to begin. WRAPPED Slow to begin. BAT A KAT Had a tendency to lay out rounding the home turn. VIENNA MOON Laid in under pressure in the home straight. Race 5: Get Social @ Ipswichturfclub Class 3 SW Plate 1020m STOLE THE SHOW Began awkwardly and shifted in. Approaching the 200m was severely bumped and hampered by THE MECHANIC, which was shifting out to improve.. Jockey T. Harrison the rider of THE MECHANIC pleaded guilty to a charge of careless riding under AR137(a) in that at a point passing the 200m she directed her mount out when insufficiently clear of STOLE THE SHOW forcing that runner out and causing its rider to take evasive action to avoid THE MECHANIC. Jockey Harrisons licence to ride in races was suspended for a period of eleven (11) days to commence midnight 29 October 2017 and expire midnight 9 November 2017. IVE GOTTA NEL Began awkwardly and shifted out. Jockey J. Lloyd reported at scale his mount hung out after passing the 500m. DANSU Hampered between runners on jumping. INVINCIBLE STORM Hampered between runners on jumping. Raced 3 wide without cover throughout. Cast an off hind plate in running. LWAZI Rounding the first turn when racing in restricted room made contact with the running rail. Approaching the 400m improved to the inside of IVE GOTTA NEL where there was insufficient room and became awkward for a few strides. THE MECHANIC Held up from the 400m until passing the 250m and made contact with STOLE THE SHOW while endeavouring to secure clear running to the outside. A post race veterinary examination revealed the gelding to be lame in the off hind leg. Trainer D. Vandyke was advised that a veterinary certificate of fitness must be produced prior to the gelding racing again. Race 6: Grand Central Hotel Class 4 Handicap 1200m SANSUI DRAWING As the gelding had not raced for over 12 months it was examined by the veterinary surgeon prior to the race and cleared to start. KAPSTAR Slow to begin. WIN ALONG Slow to begin. THE MONK Raced 3 wide without cover throughout. Race 7: Meadowbrook Hotel Fillies & Mares Benchmark 65 Handicap 1200m HIDDEN GOLD was declared a late scratching at 7.37 a.m. by order of stewards. LADY MICAELA The saddle shifted back on jumping placing its rider at a disadvantage and as a result the mare took no competitive part in the event. BO ROSSA Began awkwardly. WINTER BRIDE Began awkwardly and shifted out. HIDDEN ROSE Bumped on jumping. Raced 3 wide without cover throughout. OSPACEHELLO Bumped on jumping. Passing the 400m had a tendency to lay in when weakening and tired over the concluding stages. A post race veterinary examination revealed the mare to be lame in the near fore leg.. Trainer D. Murphy was advised that a veterinary clearance will be required prior to the mare racing again. HOT TALK Bumped shortly after the start. VIVID PINK Bumped shortly after the start. TREASURE GALLERY From the 400m until straightening got its head up when racing in restricted room to the inside of OSPACEHELLO, which shifted in. When asked to comment on the improved performance jockey T. Harrison was of the view that the mare appreciates racing with a bit of room and from the good barrier today she was able to position in a spot behind the leader and in the home straight was provided with sufficient room to finish the race off.. Jockey Harrison noted that the mare has a good record at Ipswich and appreciated the softer track conditions. Race 8: XXXX Gold Colts, Geldings & Enitres Benchmark 65 Handicap 1200m AMANAAT Once loaded in the barriers became fractious and reared on a number of occasions. SYAMANTAKA MANI Slow to begin. NAKANAI Approaching the 800m commenced to overrace and got its head up on a number of occasions. HIGH DIVE Approaching the 400m blundered of its own accord. EMINENT Raced 3 wide without cover throughout. Race 9: XXXX Summer Benchmark 65 Handicap 1550m Due to a clerical error App J. Guthmann-Chester was noted as the rider of WINNING ACCORD instead of L. Cassidy. The track was inspected by stewards near the 400m and found to be safe for racing. WINNING ACCORD Slow to begin. Raced 3 wide without cover throughout. LEPRECHAUN LAD Slow to begin. Passing the 1350m commenced to overrace and had to be restrained from heels on a number of occasions and continued to overrace until a point passing the 800m. SAME OLD Began awkwardly and shifted out. CELLYSE Tendency to overrace in the early stages. When afforded the opportunity to comment on the performance jockey J. Lloyd stated when asked for an effort the mare only responded for a short period and in his opinion would be better suited over races shorter than that of todays event. HARADIFY On entering the home straight had to be steadied from heels. DINKY DI DORA Rounding the home turn was heavily bumped by SHOTACROSS THE BOW, which shifted out to obtain clear running.
