SUPPLEMENTARY REPORT
 
From Gold Coast 28 October 2017 Race 2: A subsequent veterinary examination revealed that PAGE ONE was sore behind the offside knee. Trainer R. Heathcote advised that the horse has been treated and will have a short freshen up.
 
Race 1: ITC MELBOURNE CUP LUNCHEON SELLING FAST MAIDEN HHCAP

IIM ANTMAN As the horse failed to arrive on course by the prescribed time it was declared a late scratching at 12:27 pm. At a subsequent inquiry trainer D. Duryea was found guilty of a charge under AR. 175(k) in that her negligence led to a breach of Local Rule 30 which prescribes the time by which runners must be on course. Ms Duryea was fined $200.
 
MAJESTIC SHADOW Slightly hampered approaching the winning post when MATCH DAY laid in.
 
NAUGHTY CORNER Commenced to weaken after passing the 600m and finished at the rear of the field. Rider M. Cahill reported that the gelding, when asked for an effort passing the 600m, failed to respond and proved disappointing. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no significant findings.
 
MATCH DAY Forced three wide after passing the 700m when MAJESTIC SHADOW shifted out to improve. Had a tendency to lay in over the final 100m.

 
Race 2: BOOK YOUR XMAS PARTY NOW WITH ITC MAIDEN HHCAP 1100M
 
The start of this race was delayed when NIGHT WHISPER had to be replated.
 
DOOM Began awkwardly and shifted out, bumping EXCRUCIATE.
 
FANX Held up rounding the home turn.
 
TEVYE J. Orman indicated that it was his intention to lead, however when runners improved to his inside approaching the first turn he was obliged to race wide without cover.
 
DIGIT After racing on the speed in the early and middle stages the horse tired over the concluding stages. When asked to comment on the performance, apprentice A. Sewell was unable to offer any tangible explanation. A post-race veterinary examination revealed that the horse had a mild respiratory infection. Trainer L. Birchley was advised that he must produce a veterinary clearance for the horse prior to it racing again.
 
KRYSTAL KATE Apprentice H. English reported that her mount raced very greenly in the home straight.
 
NIGHT WHISPER Slow to begin and was then restrained to obtain a position at the rear closer to the rail.
 
SNOW SPARKLE Held up rounding the home turn. After travelling in a reasonable position just off the speed the horse failed to respond over the final stages and proved disappointing. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no significant findings.
 
EXCRUCIATE Began awkwardly and then was bumped shortly after the start. Raced three wide with cover. Overraced in the early stages. Had a tendency to lay in under pressure over the final 100m, causing its rider to stop riding on a number of occasions.
 
RAVENNS WING When questioned regarding the marees improved performance, trainer M. Dunn explained that at its last start, when racing in a forward position, it overraced, and on the recommendation of jockey Fradd he removed the cross-over nose band and winkers and added a tongue tie. He said that he instructed the rider to attempt to settle the mare off the speed with cover, which he believed would allow the mare to finish the race off. Stewards advised Mr Dunn that if it was his intention to change the tactics which had been adopted at recent starts, he was obliged under the rules of racing to notify stewards of such change.
 
Race 3: CHANNEL 7 CLASS 4 HHCAP 1200M
 
DIETERS Commenced to overrace when attempting to obtain cover approaching the 900m and proved difficult to restrain. Commenced to weaken shortly after straightening and finished last. A post-race veterinary examination revealed that the horse was exhibiting an abnormal respiratory noise. Trainer R. Heathcote was advised that a veterinary clearance and the results of an endoscopic examination of the horse must be produced prior to it racing again. Mr Heathcotees stable representative advised that it would be recommended to connections that the gelding be retired from racing.
 
BAUHINIA SID Slow to begin.
 
PASSION TO WIN Bumped and forced wider on the track passing the 400mn when TYRANNIZE shifted out.
 
Race 4: GRANDVIEW STUD CLASS 5 HHCAP 1666M
 
SENTIMENTAL PRINCE Made the crossing near the 1500m awkwardly. Wanted to lay out rounding the home turn.
 
SHOW COMMAND As B. Stewart was late arriving on course, J. Stanley was substituted as rider. J. Stanley was questioned regarding his riding of the gelding approaching and rounding the home turn and in the early stages of the home straight. Of particular concern to stewards was the amount of vigour used by jockey Stanley at that stage of the event. Jockey Stanley indicated that the gelding had been under pressure for at least 300 or 400 metres prior to rounding the home turn and in his opinion was starting to tire. He stated that rounding the home turn and in the early part of the straight he was attempting to keep the gelding balanced to assist it to get through the going closer to the rail, which in his opinion was inferior. Jockey Stanley added that he tested the horse passing the 300m and the gelding commenced to weaken and was beaten a considerable margin at the finish. Trainer P. Duff advised that he was satisfied with jockey Stanleyys riding of SHOW COMMAND and added that the horse, being third up from a spell over 1600m, will take a fitness benefit from todayys race. Stewards noted the explanations of both parties, however nonetheless advised jockey Stanley to at all times ride in a manner which is competitive and not to leave himself open to question.
 
TONI MAY Slow to begin and then was hampered between runners shortly afterwards.
 
DUKE OF CHRISTOPHE Slow to begin.
 
RAMATUELLE Knuckled on jumping.
 
TAMPERE Held up rounding the home turn.
 
Race 5: UBET F&M CLASS 2 HHCAP 1350M
 
DEER MOUNTAIN Slow to begin.
 
COLLARRS UP Began awkwardly. Raced three wide without cover throughout.
 
SHEZA HOTTI Bumped shortly after the start by DEER MOUNTAIN, which shifted in. Lost the near hind plate in running.
 
Race 6: XXXX GOLD QTIS 3YO MAIDEN HHCAP 1100M
 
The start of this race was delayed when THE HUSSLER proved difficult to load. Trainer K. Schweida was advised that a warning will be placed against the gelding.
 
BOOM BOY Began awkwardly. Shifted in abruptly shortly after the start, making heavy contact with JOEL. In this incident BOOM BOY became unbalanced and lost ground. Held up for a short distance rounding the home turn.
 
JOEL Bumped heavily shortly after the start by BOOM BOY and became unbalanced.
 
SAGASON Trainer T. Edmonds was fined $200 for the late declaration of apprentice M. McGillivray as rider. Raced three wide without cover throughout.
 
THE HUSSLER Momentarily hampered passing the 200m when BOOM BOY shifted out to improve.
 
ALL IMPORTANT Began awkwardly, almost dislodging its rider. Had a tendency to lay in under riding in the home straight.
 
SPLITTER Raced three wide with cover.
 
STRADA GRANDE Attempted to put its head down as the start was effected and lost considerable ground. Hampered shortly after the start when BOOM BOY shifted in. Held up rounding the home turn.
 
Race 7: XXXX SUMMER C,G&E CLASS 2 HHCAP 1350M
 
The declaration of correct weight was delayed to enable to stewards to view the footage of the start of the race to determine whether TAIKO BOOM had been afforded a fair start.
 
TAIKO BOOM Reared as the start was effected, refused to leave the barriers and took no part in the event. Trainer S. Lee was advised that the horse must obtain a further barrier certificate in a trial.
 
BEAU ISA Shifted out off the track over the final stages.
 
FAR NORTH Apprentice E. Ljung reported at scale that her mound did not feel entirely comfortable in its action during the event. A post-race veterinary examination revealed that the horse had mild heat stress and the thumps.
 
I AM THE WARRIOR Slow into stride.
 
HAYLEE PRINCE Hung in in the home straight.
 
Race 8: CITY OF ISSUES BENCHMARK 65 HHCAP 1000M
 
MR HENNESSY Held up rounding the home turn.
 
DEEPEST Slow to begin. Held up from the 400mn until a point passing the 200m.
 
THE AMBASSADORE Bumped on jumping. Held up rounding the home turn and in the home straight had difficulty obtaining clear running and passing the 100m had to be checked away from heels and went to the line without being fully tested.
 
ANOTHER SLIPPER Slow to begin. Held up rounding the home turn.
 
CHIN CHUN Raced four wide without cover. Hung in in the home straight.
 
LIPSYNC Raced wide with cover.
 
DREAM OF ASCOT Raced three wide without cover.
 
MISHANI SEEKA Began awkwardly. Hampered rounding the home turn when weakening and racing in restricted room.
 
NOOR DROPPER Slow to begin.
