Ostrofski Race 1: IPSWICH CUP 16TH JUNE C,G&E MAIDEN PLATE – 1000M MAN IN MOTION – When questioned regarding the gelding’s improved performance today, trainer M. Nolan Jnr explained that the colt was gelded following its first start it and in his opinion this had improved the horse’s racing manners. He added that the gelding had jumped out well in a jump-out and had also worked well leading into today’s event, which was consistent with its track work leading into its first start. BROWN BROWN – Raced greenly throughout the event. FISH ON – Apprentice B. Nothdurft reported that his mount failed to muster speed in the early stages and raced greenly in the middle stages when receiving some kickback. He added that when the gelding got into clear running rounding the home turn it ran on nicely. SKIPPER’S CALL – Slow to begin. VICTORY STAR – Raced wide in the early stages before pressing forward to obtain a position outside the leader passing the 700m. WALL STREET TYCOON – Slow to begin. Raced three wide without cover throughout. Race 2: IPSWICH CUP TIX ON SALE NOW F&M MAIDEN PLATE – 1000M The start of this race was delayed initially when GRAZIE MILLE BELLA proved difficult to load. Trainer B. Baldwin was advised that a warning would be placed against the filly. The start was further delayed when MOLLY’S ROCKING reared and became cast in the barriers. After being removed from the barriers and undergoing a veterinary examination, MOLLY’S ROCKING was declared a late scratching at 12:36 pm by order of stewards acting on veterinary advice that the horse had sustained an injury to the off hind leg. Trainer L. Hatch was advised that he will be required to obtain a further barrier certificate for the horse. TAABINGA, which was in the stall adjoining MOLLY’S ROCKING, was also removed from the barriers, examined by the veterinary surgeon and declared a late scratching at 12:36 pm on veterinary advice that the horse had sustained a laceration to the near foreleg. On the announcement of correct weight stewards ordered that all monies invested on MOLLY’S ROCKING and TAABINGA be refunded, with the following deductions to apply to successful wagers placed prior to 12:36 pm: 20 cents in the dollar for the win #834 cents in the dollar for place of winner #823 cents in the dollar for 2nd place #1137 cents in the dollar for 3rd place #6 HELFUCHI – Raced three wide without cover in the early and middle stages. LUCKY DRAW – Slow to begin. Hampered slightly shortly after the start, veered out sharply shortly and then raced greenly throughout the event and in the home straight was unable to be tested fully. Trainer J. Hepworth was advised that the filly would need to compete in an official barrier trial prior to racing again. MY HAPPY PLACE – Had a tendency to lay out under pressure in the home straight. PRINCESS MONA – Began awkwardly and shifted out abruptly. RAZZAMATAZZ – A post-race veterinary examination revealed a cut to the near hind pastern. GRAZIE MILLE BELLA – Began awkwardly. A post-race veterinary examination revealed a laceration to the off hind leg. FLOSSY – Hampered on jumping. A post-race veterinary examination revealed a significant laceration to the near hind cannon. Race 3: BOOK YOUR PRIVATE CUP MARQUEE QTIS 2YO MAIDEN PLATE – 1200M As B. El-Issa was unable to arrive on course in time to fulfil his engagement due to transport difficulties, R. Stewart was substituted as the rider of FLIRTY MCCOY. COPS AND ROBBERS – Bumped approaching the 250m by YAMAZAKI, which shifted out. HAZAR – J. Lloyd reported that his mount raced greenly throughout the event. WE CALL HER LOLA – Slow to begin. Had to be steadied from heels approaching the 200m. YAMAZAKI – Raced three wide without cover throughout. Laid in under pressure in the early stages of the home straight and bumped COPS AND ROBBERS. MISCHIEVOUSMARILYN – Had to be steadied passing the 500m when ANIMAL SPIRITS shifted out to improve, and then was held up for a short distance prior to entering the home straight. LILIERO – Underwent a veterinary examination behind the barriers and was passed fit to race. Had a tendency to hang out after passing the 600m. Following the running of this event the track was upgraded to SOFT 5. Race 4: BUY TIX @ WWW.IPSWICHTURFCLUB.COM.AU QTIS 3YO MAIDEN H’CAP – 1350M The declaration of correct weight was delayed to allow connections and J. Orman, the rider of 4th placegetter VIENNA MOON, to view the stewards’ patrol footage in the straight. After viewing the video, both parties indicated that they did not wish to lodge an objection. KING DINISTY – Tightened for room passing the 50m when LI’L RODGE shifted in. Apprentice B. Nothdurft, the rider of LI’L RODGE, was severely reprimanded for failing to make sufficient effort to prevent his mount from shifting in. LI’L RODGE – Had a tendency to lay in under pressure in the home straight. ROTHFORD – Began awkwardly and lost ground. Had to be checked upon entering the straight when STRADA GRANDE shifted out and then was held up until a point approaching the 200m. BEYOND STYLE – Bumped another runner on jumping. RABBIOSA – Held up rounding the home turn. BOLD SAM – Began awkwardly. Raced three wide without cover throughout. VIENNA MOON – Bumped another runner on jumping. Slightly cramped for room passing the 100m when LI’L RODGE shifted in. FINE VERSE – Had to be steadied passing the 900m when slightly tightened for room. KENDALL’S DREAM – Slightly hampered between runners upon entering the straight. Race 5: CARLTON DRAUGHT RATINGS BAND 0 – 62 H’CAP – 800M BUNGAREE BOY – Trainer M. Wilson advised that the gelding had had an operation on the nearside knee following its last start. A public announcement was made to this effect. Tightened for room passing the 600m when REMEMBER MARY (S. Sweeney) shifted in. Apprentice Sweeney pleaded guilty to a charge of careless riding under AR. 137(a) for permitting her mount to shift in at that point when not sufficiently clear. Apprentice Sweeney’s licence to ride in races for 8 days, to commence at midnight on Sunday 20 May and expire at midnight on Monday 28 May 2018. In determining penalty, stewards were mindful of apprentice Sweeney’s guilty plea and her previous good riding record. DANGER ANNIE – Raced three wide without cover throughout. DANGEROUS DANICA – Slightly hampered passing the 700m when REMEMBER MARY shifted out. Tightened for room and had to be checked away from heels approaching the winning post when REMEMBER MARY (S. Sweeney) shifted in. Apprentice Sweeney pleaded guilty to a charge of careless riding under AR. 137(a) for permitting her mount to shift in at that point when not sufficiently clear. Apprentice Sweeney’s licence to ride in races for 10 days, to commence at midnight on Sunday 20 May and expire at midnight on Wednesday 30 May 2018. In determining penalty, stewards were of the opinion that the degree of interference to DANGEROUS DANICA was mid-range. Stewards ordered that this penalty be served concurrently with the penalty incurred for causing interference passing the 600m. Race 6: INFIELD DJ FESTIVAL ON SALE BENCHMARK 70 H’CAP – 1680M BUDGET BENDER – Following its performance today, trainer D. Fletcher advised that the gelding would now be retired. MENDELSSOHN – Disappointed for a run in the early stages of the home straight and was then held up behind the tiring BUDGET BENDER and was unable to secure clear running for the remainder of the event. N. Evans dropped his whip passing the 100m. WHO’S YOUR DADDY – Stood flat-footed and missed the start, losing considerable ground. DEFENCE WITNESS – Raced three wide without cover in the early stages before obtaining cover passing the 1200m. ROBBERS COBBER – Overraced and got its head in the air on a number of occasions in the early and middle stages. Race 7: SIRROMET CLASS 1 H’CAP – 1350M SOLARCRAFT – Raced three wide with cover. Forced wider rounding the home turn when TOKORIKI LAD shifted out to improve. TEN TAUBADA'S – Weakened over the final 200m and proved disappointing. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no significant findings. CAVALLI – Slow to begin. Commenced to overrace after passing the 1100m and had to be steadied away from heels. DEFECTIVE – The veterinary surgeon reported post-race that the gelding had bled from both nostrils. Connections were advised that the horse would be ineligible to race for 3 months and that prior to its next start must gallop satisfactorily over 1000m in the presence of a steward. DREAM CAPTAIN – Slow to begin. FIGHTING TEO – Began awkwardly. Laid in under pressure in the home straight, placing its rider at some disadvantage. SHONECK AFFAIR – Raced wide with cover. Had difficulty obtaining clear running from the 250m until the winning post. ALL PICKLED – After being caught wide in the early stages, pressed forward to obtain a position outside the leader passing the 800m. HOWICK – Had some difficulty obtaining clear running passing the 200m. PRIEST’S ROAD – Held up over the final 100m, resulting in the rider being unable to fully test his mount. DREAM STARLET – Raced three wide without cover throughout. Race 8: SCHWEPPES CLASS 3 H’CAP – 1200M BAREFOOT TYCOON – Began awkwardly. Raced three wide with cover. WAKE UP JEFF – Overraced in the early and middle stages. RAINBOW SPIRIT – Raced three wide without cover throughout. WHODUNNIT – Lost the near hind plate in running. THE MONK – Began awkwardly.
