Race 3: SIRROMET F&M MAIDEN H'CAP – 1100M ARENKHA, which became cast in its box prior to leaving for the course, was a late scratching at 9:52 am for veterinary reasons. The start of this race was delayed when ELLE OF A RUN proved difficult to load. Trainer R. Heathcote was advised that a warning would be placed on the filly’s manners. The start was further delayed when MISS SHANIEL, which had been restless in the barriers, broke through the front gates, travelled a short distance, returned to the barriers, inspected by the veterinary surgeon and passed fit to start. DE VEGA PEACH – Had a tendency to lay in in the early stages. Had a tendency to lay in under pressure in the straight. ELLE OF A RUN – Slow to begin. Had a tendency to hang out throughout the event. Race 7: GRANDVIEW STUD QTIS 3YO CLASS 2 PLATE – 1666M The start of this race was delayed when the off fore plate on HOWICK had to be refitted behind the barriers. KING DINISTY – When questioned regarding the tactics adopted, apprentice E. Ljung advised that it was her intention to race in a forward position, not necessarily lead, but after travelling a short distance found herself, from the inside barrier, holding the lead. She said that passing the 1400m the gelding commenced to overrace when in the lead and despite her efforts refused to settle. Apprentice Ljung further explained that after passing the 1000m the gelding never travelled comfortably and commenced to weaken prior to the home turn and proved disappointing. She added that the horse may not have appreciated the step up in distance today to a mile and in her opinion the gelding may have come to the end of its campaign. Trainer T. Sears advised that in light of today’s performance it was his intention to send the gelding for a spell after having veterinary tests carried out on the horse, the results of which he will report to stewards. Had some difficulty obtaining clear running over the final 100m. DARING DEEDS – Raced four wide throughout. PERSONALISED – Trainer M. Costa advised that because of the wide barrier it would be the intention to have the horse ridden in a rearward position.
