TouStewards Secretary – P. Carey _________________________________ Race 1: Dave Welge Memorial QTIS 2yo H’cap – 1200m BOOMTOWN LASS – Began awkwardly. Raced greenly throughout. ARCHADE – Began awkwardly. Raced greenly throughout, and in the home straight shifted ground on a number of occasions, inconveniencing NIGHT CHARMER. LADY MCCABE – Had a tendency to lay in on a number of occasions in the early stages of the race. ARCHER’S TREASURE – After passing the 800m raced greenly and shifted in away from LADY MCCABE and brushed the running rail and became unbalanced. NIGHT CHARMER – After passing the 200m was obliged to alter course when slightly inconvenienced by ARCHADE. Race 2: Kerwick Hotel Class 5 H’cap - 1200m BROCSON – Slow into stride. CAMBOOYA ROCK – Slow to begin. ABSOLUTLYPOSITIVLY – Had a tendency to lay in under pressure over the final 200m. Race 3: J. G. Mullan Constructions Maiden Plate – 1350m TUSCAN CAT – Reared as the start was effected and lost significant ground. Overraced in the early stages and got its head up when being restrained from heels. BUXTON – Slow to begin. Held up from the 400m until approaching the 200m. Jockey J. Byrne advised that after being slow to begin he elected from the wide barrier to cross behind runners to obtain a position closer to the rail. He added it was his intention to ride for luck after passing the 600m, however was held up for a considerable distance before obtaining clear running approaching the 200m. He further stated that, in his opinion the gelding finished the race off well. KALELARGA – Hung out after passing the 400m. ROTHFORD – Laid in under pressure over the final 200m. Raced 3 wide without cover. HI MY GIRL – Had a tendency to lay in over the final 100m, causing its rider to stop riding and straighten his mount. SAPPER TOM – Had to be steadied approaching the winning post when racing in restricted room. SKY ONE – Raced 3 wide with cover. SMOKEY DIAMOND – Raced 3 wide with cover. Race 4: Support Your Local Fruit Shot Class 3 Plate – 1000m RAVEN’S WING – Stood flatfooted at the start and lost significant ground. DUTCH GAL – Began awkwardly and shifted in. CLAIRVUE DIAMOND – Bumped on jumping away. Hung out after passing the 800m and again rounding the home turn. Jockey R. Wiggins was reminded of his obligations to ride his mounts right out to the finish line. ONE STRYKE – Laid in passing the 300m and made heavy contact with the hind quarters of ZEGOTA. Continued to lay in in the home straight. ZEGOTA – Bumped heavily near the 300m by ONE STRYKE, which laid in and became unbalanced. Race 5: Just Sports & Fitness Class 1 H’cap – 1200m YOUNG AMAZON – Trainer W. Sutton was fined $100 for failing to declare a rider for the horse by the prescribed time. Hampered on jumping away. A post race veterinary examination revealed the horse had bled from its near-side nostril. Connections were advised that an endoscopic examination must be performed on the mare, and a veterinary clearance must be provided, including a 1000m gallop before stewards prior to its next race start. THE TINMAN – Slow to begin. Had a tendency to shift in under pressure over the final 100m, and as a consequence had to be eased from the heels of TEVYE over the concluding stages. BUNGAREE BOY – Began awkwardly and shifted out. TEVYE – Bumped on jumping away. WENSLEY ROAD – Began awkwardly. MR DUMONT – Began awkwardly and became unbalanced when bumped on the hind quarters. Raced 3 wide with cover. COURT RULES – Overraced in the early stages and raced 3 wide with cover. FORDYCE KNIGHT – Hung out from the 500m until the home straight. MELANYA – Slightly held up rounding the home turn. THRU THE STORM – Had a tendency to lay in passing the 200m and then was slightly hampered approaching the 50m when THE TINMAN shifted in under pressure. Raced 3 wide without cover. HAND OF FAITH – Lost its near hind plate in running. Race 6: Goodna Rugby League Old Boys QIS 3yo Class 2 H’cap – 1200m BARGANNON – Connections advised that the horse would be ridden in a forward position today if circumstances permit. The horse was ridden accordingly. Overraced between the 1000m and 800m. Held up from a point passing the 400m until entering the home straight. RUBY RED HEART – Apprentice J. Murphy, rider of RUBY RED HEART, pleaded guilty to a charge of careless riding, in that he allowed his mount to shift in under riding passing the 200m, causing FRIENDS to be checked and taken in on to the hind quarters of RIVER FLYER, which became unbalanced almost dislodging jockey C. Gallagher which in turn was further taken in and made further contact with ALL LOVE. Apprentice Murphy was suspended from riding in races for a period of 10 days, to commence at midnight, 7 July and to expire at midnight, 17 July. In assessing penalty, stewards took into account apprentice Murphy’s guilty plea and his very good record under this rule. Raced 3 deep without cover. FRIENDS - Bumped at the start. Cramped for racing room and had to be checked away from heels passing the 200m. KEEP YOUR ROSES – Bumped at the start. ALL LOVE – Knuckled on jumping away. Laid out rounding the home turn. Bumped heavily passing the 200m. Bled from both nostrils during the event. As this was the first occasion on which the horse has bled, it will now incur a 3 month bar from racing. MAGIC LAD – Began awkwardly. Rider S. Lacy reported that, in her opinion, the gelding failed to handle today’s track conditions. RIVER FLYER – Bumped heavily passing the 200m, resulting in apprentice C. Gallagher becoming unbalanced. BOASTING – Raced rounding the home turn. Race 7: Glen Innes Magpies Qod Boys Benchmark 65 H ‘cap – 1666m LEGENDARY LUKE – Slow to begin. VIENNA MOON – Began awkwardly and shifted in. Had a tendency to lay in under pressure over the final 200m. Brushed over the final 100m. SHOTACROSS THE BOW – Slightly hampered on jumping away. A post race veterinary examination failed to reveal any significant abnormalities. BRADY ‘N’ ME – Slow to begin. Overraced in the early stages. MISS POLLY BEAT – Began awkwardly and made contact with the barrier partition. WAKE UP JEFF – Cramped for room between runners on jumping away. Overraced in the early stages before shifting 3 wide and remained in that position for the remainder of the race. SAME OLD – Held up for a short distance passing the 400m. Raced 3 wide with cover throughout. FAIRLIGHTING – Laid in over the final 100m and brushed BRONZED VENOM. BRONZED VENOM – Brushed over the final 100m. DUBAI GEE EYE – Cast its near fore plate in running. Race 8: Railway Tavern Glen Innes Benchmark 65 H ‘cap - 1350 DRIVING WHEELS – Slow to begin. HUSSON’S PRIDE – Was fractious in the barriers and began awkwardly. Overraced in the early stages and shifted wider passing the 900m. MONACO PLAYBOY – Hampered on jumping away. Forced wider passing the 900m when HUSSON’S PRIDE shifted out. LADY MICAELA – Hampered on jumping away. Held up after passing the 400m until entering the home straight and then improved on to heels approaching the 150m and had to be checked and then went to the line without being fully tested. KYLIE’S FAME – Overraced when positioned outside the leader and commenced to hang out before being allowed to stride clear and obtain the lead passing the 700m.
