GENERAL
 
Prior to Race 1 (1666m) the stewards inspected the section of track between the 1600m and the 1400m and in consultation with all riders engaged in the race deemed it suitable for racing.
 
Race 1: CHANNEL 7 CLASS 3 PLATE – 1666M
 
REAL STING – Slow to begin.
 
SAME OLD – Overraced for some distance after HIDDEN BUDGET crossed forward to the lead leaving the 1400m. When questioned as to the tactics adopted, jockey S. Doyle stated that the gelding previously settled at the rear of the field after being slow to begin. Jockey Doyle added that after the gelding began on terms he elected to ride forward to obtain a position in the lead before restraining to obtain cover behind HIDDEN BUDGET.
 
CASINO GOLD – Hampered shortly after the start. Overraced in the early stages.
 
HIDDEN BUDGET – Slow to begin.
 
PROLIFIC BELLE – Steadied over the concluding stages when tightened for room between MISS POLLY BEAT and GOLDEN SHEAF, which shifted in. M. Hellyer, the rider of GOLDEN SHEAF, was reprimanded.
 
GOLDEN SHEAF – Slow to begin.
 
Race 2: SIRROMET C,G&E MAIDEN H’CAP – 1350M
 
CYCLONE PATH – Began awkwardly.
 
GRAND WHISPER – Slow to begin. Bumped on straightening.
 
LITTLE MISTER – Steadied upon straightening when tightened for room between GRAND WHISPER and CYCLONE PATH which hung out.
 
Race 3: CARLTON MID F&M MAIDEN H’CAP – 1350M
 
KEREMA MORI – Hung out rounding the home turn.
 
SATISFIED – Fractious in the barriers and reared as the start was effected, losing ground.
 
WICKED MAMA – Overraced in the early stages. Bumped by SATISFIED approaching the 100m. Eased over the concluding stages when placed in restricted room between EVENING and SATISFIED, both of which shifted ground.
 
ETHANOL GIRL – Began awkwardly.
 
SATYRICON – Hung out rounding the home turn.
 
EVENING – Overraced in the early stages. Hung out rounding the home turn.
 
Race 4: SCHWEPPES QTIS 2YO H’CAP – 1200M
 
RAINS APLENTY – Slow to begin. R. Plumb was fined $200 under AR. 145 for returning to scale in excess of half a kilogram over his declared weight. In determining penalty, stewards were mindful of jockey Plumb’s good record.
 
Race 5: CITY OF IPSWICH CLASS 5 H’CAP – 1350M
 
TIVOLI STREET – Bumped after being slow to begin. Laid out under pressure in the home straight and bumped LEGAL COUNSEL on a number of occasions.
 
BROCSON – Slow to begin. A post-race veterinary examination revealed the gelding to be displaying a nasal discharge. Trainer M. Lakey was advised that the horse will require a veterinary clearance, including the results of an endoscopic examination, prior to racing again.
 
SI SI SEQUALO – After being restrained to obtain cover, the gelding then overraced in the early stages of the event.
 
BEAU ISA – Began awkwardly and bumped another runner.
 
LEGAL COUNSEL – Bumped by BROCSON on a number of occasions in the home straight.
 
Race 6: THE QLD TIMES F&M BM65 H’CAP – 1200M
 
COOL MOVER – Bumped by ON A HIGH upon straightening.
 
BOILING – Slow to begin.
 
ELLA DIVINE – Began awkwardly and shifted in, bumping ON A HIGH. Eased near the 1000m when awkwardly placed at the heels of COOL MOVER.
 
ON A HIGH – Bumped at the start. Shifted out to improve upon straightening and bumped COOL MOVER and was then held up for a short distance.
 
MACHU PICCHU – Began awkwardly. Overraced in the early stages.
 
SPLITTER – B. Stewart was reprimanded for using the whip on 6 occasions prior to the 100m.
 
Race 7: RAY WHITE IPSWICH C,G&E BM65 H’CAP – 1200M
 
ALL TROOPS – Overraced in the early stages.
 
HAPPY HOOVES – Hampered by PIPER BOY at the start.
 
JUST AS LOYAL – Slow to begin.
