Wiggins, the rider of LOVE STRUCK, placed 2nd by the Judge, lodged an objection against ANCIENT AZTEC being declared the winner, alleging interference over the final 250m. After taking evidence from all parties and viewing the videos, it was established that approaching the 200m ANCIENT AZTEC did shift out and slightly impeded the line of LOVE STRUCK and that leaving the 100m ANCIENT AZTEC, which was keeping a straight course, was brushed by LOVE STRUCK, which was laying in under pressure. Stewards believed that the degree of interference to LOVE STRUCK approaching the 200m was minimal and had no material effect on the placings of both runners at the finish, bearing in mind the margin of a half neck, and therefore dismissed jockey Wiggins’ objection and declared correct weight on the Judge’s placings.
