Race 1: FOLLOW ITC @IPSWICHTURFCLUB MAIDEN PLATE – 2180M

MISFITS – Overraced in the early stages and was restrained to a rearward position and then, due to the slow tempo, was permitted to improve three wide approaching the 1200m before obtaining the lead shortly after. Rider A. Spinks accidentally dropped his whip rounding the home turn.

Race 2: CARLTON MID QTIS 3YO MAIDEN H’CAP – 1200M

READY SET BOOM – Trainer P. Butterworth advised that the horse would be ridden in a forward position if circumstances permit. The horse was ridden accordingly. Raced three wide in the early stages. Obliged to steady from heels when disappointed for a run near the 100m.

AL’S KINGDOM – Shifted out under pressure over the final 100m.

COASTAL PRINCE – Held up for clear running and obliged to shift wider approaching the home turn.

ENTERPRISE GRAND – Hampered on jumping.

LIABILITY – Slow to begin before mustering speed under hard riding to occupy a forward position. When questioned regarding the seemingly disappointing performance of the horse, which started a short-priced favourite, rider J. Lloyd explained that his instructions were to make use of the favourable barrier and after beginning slowly he then elected to push forward on the colt as it had led in its most recent trial. He also noted that the horse made some abnormal respiratory noises in running and had to work hard to hold a position. He also noted that the horse may have choked down and proved disappointing over the concluding stages. A post-race veterinary examination revealed that the colt had a slow post-race recovery. After considering today’s performance, stewards stood LIABILITY down from racing pending a veterinary clearance and receiving the results of the endoscopic examination. A swab sample was taken from the colt.

MONASHEE RIDGE – Jumped awkwardly and lost significant ground.

EULEILAH – Hung in under pressure over the final 200m.

NOONOO – Began awkwardly and shifted out.

Race 3: SIRROMET F&M BENCHMARK 65 H’CAP – 1350M

BRASSY BELLE – Trainer B. Currie advised that the preferred option would be to have the horse settle in a more forward position if circumstances permit. Failed to muster early speed despite the efforts of its rider.

OUR JAMAICA – J. Lloyd reported that his mount wanted to lay out from the 500m, placing him at a disadvantage.

TIME TO SAIL – Slow into stride.

Race 4: SCHWEPPES MAIDEN H’CAP – 1350M

OUR RED DOG – Severely tightened between runners and forced inwards near the 900m, making heavy contact with the rail and becoming unbalanced.

FOXLEIGH – Significantly tightened between runners near the 900m.

HONEST NATALIE – Steadied from heels approaching the home turn.

SARAH’S JULE – Slow into stride before mustering early speed. Steadied from heels near the 1000m. A post-race veterinary examination revealed that the filly had heat stress.

PIPEMAJOR – Raced three wide throughout. Hung in significantly near the 900m, causing interference to other runners despite the efforts of its rider. Trainer G. Hay was advised that the horse must trial satisfactorily prior to racing again.

Race 5: QUEENSLAND TIMES CLASS 4 H’CAP – 1680M

LEGENDARY LUKE – Slow into stride. Overraced in the early stages. Hung in on the home turn.

LEFKAS ISLAND – Steadied from heels and shifted wider approaching the 1300m. Momentarily tightened when tiring rounding the home turn. Tired over the concluding stages. Underwent a post-race veterinary examination which revealed that the mare had a slow post-race recovery. Jockey J. Lloyd was of the view that the horse may have got its tongue over the bit. Trainer B. Guy advised that he would consider putting a tongue tie on the mare for its next start.

SAME OLD – Forced wider approaching the 1200m when the pace eased.

Race 6: BOOK YOUR ITC FUNCTION C,G&E BENCHMARK 65 H’CAP – 1350M

FLAMIN’ MOGUL – Began awkwardly. Forced wider approaching the 700m.

JUST AS LOYAL – Slow into stride. Held up approaching the home turn. Steadied near the 600m.

PRINCE OF TIE – Hung out after the start and continued to shift wider on the course despite the efforts of its rider, causing interference to other runners. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no significant findings. After considering the racing characteristics of PRINCE OF TIE, stewards advised trainer K. Schweida that the gelding will need to requalify at a distance greater than 800m to the stewards’ satisfaction. Mr Schweida indicated that he would experiment with some gear in order to improve the racing manners of PRINCE OF TIE.

STORMY GREY – Forced wider on the track approaching the 700m. Obliged to steady from the heels of PRINCE OF TIE approaching the 600m when that runner shifted back down the track, and as a result shifted in marginally and tightened the room of CLAIRVUE. Apprentice H. English dropped her whip at the 200m.

CLAIRVUE DIAMOND – Forced wider by the wayward PRINCE OF TIE approaching the 700m.

CLAIRVUE – Tightened for room approaching the 600m and had to steady for a stride.

Race 7: RENEW YOUR MEMBERSHIPS NOW CLASS 2 H’CAP – 1100M

IL RICCIO – Obliged to steady from the heels of MORION, which shifted in on the home turn, and then shortly thereafter, when attempting to improve to the outside of MORION, was forced wider when that runner hung out.

MORION – Hung in approaching the home turn and hung out on the home turn.
