Carey _________________________________ Race 1: Book Your ITC Function F&M Maiden Plate – 1350m Correct weight was delayed after the Judge had advised that the photo-finish had malfunctioned. After viewing the available patrol films, stewards declared correct weight. SIOXSIE – Stewards opened an inquiry into S. Lacy’s riding of the horse over the final 500m. After taking initial evidence from rider S. Lacy, the matter was adjourned to a time and date to be fixed to allow trainer and master Mr P. H. Duncan to be present. A post race veterinary examination failed to reveal any significant abnormalities. CALISTO – Tightened for room and lost ground shortly after the start. Raced wide for the majority of the event. Bumped and forced wider leaving the 600m. DE LADY DELUXE – Overraced in the early stages and then when being restrained to obtain cover behind HELL OFA GOOD SORT continued to overrace. TREZORO – Approaching the 800m had to be restrained from the heels of AVA’S DREAM, which shifted in when racing greenly. Raced in restricted room near the 600m. AVA’S DREAM – Near the 600m was forced wider and then when attempting to shift back in to obtain cover, had to be steadied from the heels of OSMOSIS. Raced greenly in the straight. HEY DORIS – Raced greenly in the middle stages and then approaching the 600m had to be restrained from heels. ACCEPTITA – Inclined to lay out rounding the home turn. Race 2: Under The Louvre@Grandview Stud CG&E Maiden Plate – 1350m ROGUE DRUMMER – Began awkwardly and then was tightened for room and lost ground. THUNDEROUS STRIKE – Began awkwardly. ALPINE DANCER – Approaching the 1000m when the pace steadied commenced to overrace and passing the 1000m had to be checked from heels when overracing. Leaving the 800m shifted out to obtain a wide trailing position behind THE BIG EATER. Had to be checked near the 350m when tightened for room between THE BIG EATER and FLASH FIGHTER, which shifted out after improving onto the heels of the weakening WICKED HEIGHTS. FLASH FIGHTER – Near the 300m had to be steadied and tightened for room when awkwardly placed between runners. STATELY MANNER – Rounding the home turn when endeavouring to obtain clear running shifted out from behind the heels of ALPINE DANCER and bumped KNUCKLE UP. KUNCKLE UP – Bumped on the hind quarters rounding the home turn. Raced 3 wide with cover throughout. THE BIG EATER – Raced 3 wide without cover. Race 3: Follow ITC @Ipswichturfclub Class 3 H’cap – 1350m HEARTS HONOUR – Slow to begin. Momentarily held up near the 400m. ARRESTAR – When asked to comment on the performance, apprentice C. Gallagher stated that after losing momentum momentarily on the home turn, failed to quicken from that point and was disappointing. A post race veterinary examination failed to reveal any significant abnormalities. RIVER OF LOVE – When afforded the opportunity to comment on the performance, jockey J. Lloyd could offer no tangible explanation for the disappointing performance other than the mare may not have appreciated the step up in distance. A post race veterinary examination revealed a slow post-race recover. Race 4: Schweppes Benchmark 70 H’cap – 1680m On return to scale a protest was lodged by jockey B. Stewart, rider of the 2nd placegetter, RED COLOUR, against MONACO PLAYBOY being declared the winner alleging interference rounding the home turn. After taking evidence from the parties concerned and viewing the stewards patrol film, whilst noting that MONACO PLAYBOY shifted in slightly, any interference sustained by jockey Stewart was inconsequential to the result of the race and therefore dismissed the objection and gave correct weight on the Judge’s placings. Subsequently, jockey B. Stewart was fined the sum of $200 for lodging what the stewards deemed a frivolous protest. IOWA – Slow to begin. A post race veterinary examination revealed a laceration to the near foreleg consistent with being galloped on. MONACO PLAYBOY – Slow to begin. Race keenly in the early stages and then continued to do so in the middle stages before being forced wider near the 800m and raced without cover from that point onwards. ON DEMAND – Caught wide in the early stages and was allowed to stride forward to obtain a position closer to the rail near the 900m. THE EQUALIZER – After improving on to heels near the 600m had to be steadied. ARAZONA – Near the 500m was momentarily held up and unable to improve. Momentarily placed in restricted room in the early stages in the home straight. Race 5: Sirromet QTIS 3yo Maiden Plate – 1100m KOITAKI MISS – Reared as the start was effected and lost ground. Trainer M. J. Dunn was advised that a warning would be placed on the filly’s barrier manners. INVIGORATING – Shifted in at the start and bumped MISHANI PHANTOM. A short distance after the start had to be eased to avoid the heels of MISHANI PHANTOM, which shifted out. MISHANI PHANTOM – Bumped at the start. Held up rounding the home turn. MOONAN JOYCE – Raced wide in the early stages before being restrained to obtain a position with cover and raced wide for the remainder. Inclined to hang out rounding the home turn. BULLANG – Near the 700m had to be steadied form heels and raced wide for the majority of the race. THE PALMS – Near the 250 had to be checked, clipping the heels of SHE GOES BOOM and blundering. In this incident, SHE GOES BOOM shifted in and away from MOONAN JOYCE, which shifted in slightly. A post race veterinary examination failed to reveal any significant abnormalities. LAVENDER BLOOM – Near the 200m had to be checked to avoid the heels of THE PALMS. ZARREEN – Bumped and forced inwards near the 200m. SHE GOES BOOM – Raced 3 wide without cover for the majority of the race. Race 6: Book Your Xmas Party Class 3 H’cap – 2180m CHOPPA – Slow to begin, and a short distance later had to be steadied when tightened for room. Overraced in the early stages. Raced 3 wide without cover for the entire race. THE ZOFF – Near the 1600m had to be steadied away from the heels of SKY ONE, which shifted in. Held up rounding the home turn. MUCH DEEPER – Raced keenly in the early stages, and near the 1400m when overracing had to be steadied. Raced 3 wide with cover for the majority of the race. MONACO SNOB – Held up rounding the home turn. Race 7: Become An ITC Member F&M Class 1 H’cap – 1010m SONA DANCER - Trainer D. Murphy was fined $200 for the late declaration of rider for the horse. SHEZ A ROCKIN’TOFF – Began awkwardly. Near the 400m shifted out and made slight contact with STELLA VICTORIA, which shifted out and inconvenienced AVALANCHE. YANKEE BUBBLES – Slow to begin. COLTON – Slow to begin. Approaching the home turn had to be steadied after improving on to the heels of BRIGHT IDEA. MISS DEFIANCE – Raced 3 wide without cover. STELLA VICTORIA – Raced wide without cover. AVALANCHE WARNING – Raced 4 wide without cover. BRIGHT IDEA - Following the race, rider B. Stewart reported that his outside barrier partition had bounced back and made contact with his left elbow, placing him in some discomfort. Race 8: Sky Racing CG&E Class 1 H’cap – 1010m THE HUSSLER – Change of tactics. Connections advised the gelding would be ridden closer to the speed if circumstances permit. After beginning awkwardly, losing ground, settled at the rear of the field. TAKES TIME – Declared a late scratching at 10.38 am on veterinary advice. Connections were advised that a veterinary clearance must be provided prior to its next race start. UPPEMBAK – Began awkwardly. Raced wide throughout. BEAU ARROW – Restrained in the early stages to obtain a position with cover. FAVULICIOUS – Approaching the 800m when racing wide was restrained to obtain cover.
