SHOW ‘EM – Bumped on jumping away. Held up from the 400m until entering the home straight.

Following the running of this race the track was upgraded from a Soft 7 to a Soft 6 at 12.15pm retrospective to include Race 1.

Race 2: ACTIVE BODY CONDITIONING MAIDEN H’CAP – 1200M

The start of this race was delayed when MISHANI WICKED proved difficult to load.

REWA LAD – Slow to begin.

HARRYANDTHETIGER – Bumped with PEPPI LA FEW on a number of occasions whilst attempting to obtain cover passing the 1100m, and then commenced to overrace and raced greenly whilst being restrained at that point. Steadied passing the 700m when tightened for room by MISHANI WICKED (D. Smith) which shifted in. Jockey D. Smith was issued with a reprimand as a result of this incident.

GUANABA GIRL – Held up from a point passing the 400m until entering the home straight.

MISHANI WICKED – Slightly inconvenienced rounding the home turn before obtaining clear running upon straightening.

FRANGIPANI MOON – Began awkwardly, and then shifted out abruptly shortly after the start.

COME ALIVE – As jockey S. Galloway was indisposed due to personal reasons, T. Harrison was substituted as the rider.

ALL ABOUT MARY – Raced 3 wide without cover throughout, and had a tendency to hang out throughout.

Race 3: CLIFF PEARCE ACCOUNTING QTIS 3YO MAIDEN PLATE – 1000M

The start of this race was delayed when ZOULOU DANCER proved difficult to load.

FEARNLEY – Laid in shortly after the start. Steadied slightly to avoid heels passing the 800m.

REZABELLE – Due to a misunderstanding, jockey J. Orman was incorrectly advertised as the rider and Stewards therefore permitted C. Bayliss to be substituted as the rider. Got its head in the air after passing the 800m and raced ungenerously whilst being restrained. Raced greenly in the home straight.

ZOULOU DANCER – Steadied away from heels passing the 800m, and then raced ungenerously for a short distance.

LUVACTION – Raced 3 wide without cover throughout.

MISHANI PALOMA – Slow to begin.

Race 4: SOMERSET FUNERALS QTIS 3YO MAIDEN PLATE – 1000M

ANGELS OF FENWAY – Commenced to overrace after passing the 800m, and then hung out and made the home turn extremely wide. A post-race veterinary examination of the colt revealed no apparent abnormalities. Trainer K. Geran was advised that the colt will be required to trial to the satisfaction of Stewards prior to its next race start.

HERITAGE SASH – After being caught 3 wide in the early stages, jockey R. Maloney attempted to obtain cover behind TOO GOOD TO RESIST after passing the 800m, however he was unable to do so, and had to restrain his mount in an attempt to find a position closer to the rail. From the 600m, jockey Maloney was unable to obtain cover and his mount raced 3 wide from that point. When placed under pressure in the early stages of the home straight the horse failed to respond, however over the final 100m hit the line strongly and may benefit from this run.

MISHANI PHANTOM – Had a tendency to lay in after passing the 900m, and became awkwardly placed at the heels of TOO GOOD TO RESIST and, as a result, had to be restrained.

EPIC GIRL – Raced greenly and laid out rounding the home turn.

LANZOFFANY – Slow to begin.

Following the running of this race the track was upgraded from a Soft 6 to a Soft 5.

KNOCK TOFF – Slightly hampered when cramped for racing room passing the 900m. Held up for clear running rounding the home turn and in the early stages of the home straight.

JULE’S SPIRIT – Had a tendency to lay out throughout.

Race 6: STESCO CONSTRUCTIONS FILLIES AND MARES CLASS 4 H’CAP – 1350M

SPLITTER – A post-race veterinary examination revealed that the mare had lost the off-hind plate in running.

PRINCESS ROULETTE – As the mare had not raced in over 12 months, it was examined by the veterinary surgeon and cleared to take its place in the field. Slow to begin. A post-race veterinary examination of the mare, which performed below market expectation, revealed that it was exhibiting a slow post-race recovery. Trainer B. Lockwood advised that as the mare had not had a start in over 400 days he was not overly disappointed in the performance, and said that the mare would benefit from this run. Stewards noted the explanation.

BOILING – When questioned by Stewards regarding the improved performance, Trainer Mr. D. Groves explained that when the mare overraced two starts ago at Ipswich the rider had recommended the removal of the blinkers for its next start, which he did, however the horse did not perform well at Toowoomba on that occasion without that gear. Mr. Groves added that with the blinkers back on today, as well as the change of rider, he had not been overly surprised with the win which was consistent with the mare’s runs prior to its last start at Toowoomba. Stewards accepted the explanation.

LAVINGTON STAR – Slow to begin.

Race 7: CLUB SERVICES IPSWICH MAIDEN H’CAP – 1350M

SYBER WARRIOR – As jockey J. Missen became indisposed, jockey L. Tilley was substituted as the rider. Slow to begin.

CONSULAR – A pre-race veterinary examination revealed that the gelding had sustained a laceration to its gum which was most likely caused by its teeth. Stewards declared the gelding a late scratching at 3.05pm on veterinary advice.

HOLBROOK – Began awkwardly and made contact with the barrier partition.

KEMSREY – Raced 3 wide with cover throughout.

CREATIVE MOSS – Raced 3 wide without cover throughout. Laid in over the final 100m.

BEAU ARROW – Raced 3 wide with cover in the early stages before commencing to hang out after passing the 800m, and then made the home turn extremely wide. A post-race veterinary examination revealed the gelding to be lame in the off-hind leg. Trainer Mr. M. Dunn was advised that the horse will require a veterinary clearance prior to its next race start.

ANOTHER SLIPPER – Became fractious in the barriers and reared on a number of occasions prior to the start being effected. Commenced to overrace and shifted out approaching the 800m, and a short distance later was awkwardly placed to the outside of the heels of LYRICAL PRINCE and to the inside of SOLO MELODY. Had a tendency to lay out rounding the home turn.

LYRICAL PRINCE – After racing up on the speed the gelding commenced to weaken shortly after entering the home straight, and jockey J. Lloyd desisted from riding his mount out over the concluding stages as he felt something may be amiss with the horse. Trainer Mr. G. Doughty was advised that the horse will require a veterinary clearance prior to its next race start. Mr. Doughty was further reminded of his obligation to remain on course for the requisite period.
