QUEENSLANDRACING INTEGRITY COMMISSION STEWARDS REPORT IPSWICH TURF CLUB – FRIDAY 2 NOVEMBER 2018 WEATHER – FINERAIL – 6MPENETROMETER – 4.57TRACK RATING – GOOD 4 GOOD 3 (AFTER R2) OFFICIALS Chairman of Stewards – D. Aurisch Stewards – R. Hitchener, N. Boyle, E. BarronClerk of Scales – K. DalyJudge – S. Fahey, M. FaheyVeterinarian – Dr. A. MurdochSwab Attendants – A. Challen, K. WarwickStarter – C. WallaceStewards Secretary – M. Weir Race 1: GET SOCIAL @IPSWICHTURFCLUB CLASS 3 H’CAP – 1690M The start of this race was delayed when the crossover nose band on INVINCIBOY had to be refitted upon arriving at the barriers. Trainer Mr. H. Norman was reprimanded under AR. 140A for failing to ensure that the horse’s gear had been correctly applied. BRONZEGATE – Reared as the start was effected and lost ground. TANGO YANKEE – Overraced in the early and middle stages. Race 2: CARLTON MID MAIDEN PLATE – 1100M The start of this race was delayed when CHASING ACRES became fractious in the mounting yard and upon arriving at the barriers, and broke through its tongue-tie. As this gear was unable to be refitted, Stewards permitted the gelding to race without this gear. The start was further delayed when CHASING ACRES proved difficult to load. Trainer Mr. J. Gregory was advised that the gelding must barrier trial to the satisfaction of Stewards prior to racing again. DON’T YOU KNOW HIM – Jumped very awkwardly and lost ground. Lost the off fore plate in running. HEAVENLY ARCHER – Connections advised that, from the awkward alley today, it is the intention for the gelding to be ridden in the second half of the field if circumstances permit. The horse was ridden accordingly. TOO HARD TO RATTLE – Raced 3 wide without cover throughout. MANGO DELIGHT – Declared a late scratching at 10.50am on veterinary advice. Trainer Mr. D. Jones was advised that the mare will require a veterinary clearance prior to its next race start. YAZZI JEAN – Hampered when tightened for room at the start. Following the running of this race the track was upgraded from a Good 4 to a Good 3. Race 3: I CLEAN SOLAR QTIS 3YO MAIDEN H’CAP – 1100M ADDOCARR – Slow to begin. HEKANSPLIT – Shifted in passing the 200m brushing ADOCARR (B. Stewart), and then shifted out making heavy contact with the hindquarters of BOOMTOWN LASS (R. Wiggins) and, as a result, had to be severely checked. At a subsequent inquiry, Stewards were of the opinion that HEKANSPLIT (T. Harrison) contributed to the interference, and as a result no direct action was taken. MAKEMYDAY – Steadied near the 800m when awkwardly placed at the heels of LILY AMORA (App. C. Frater-Hill). Apprentice Frater-Hill was advised to exercise more care in similar circumstances in the future. BOOMTOWN LASS – Bumped heavily on the hindquarters passing the 200m and, as a result, became unbalanced. Race 4: GIBB ACCOUNTANTS CLASS 2 PLATE – 1010M MESSAGE TO MARTHA – Slow to begin. Race 5: SPRINGMOUNT SERVICES QTIS 3YO BENCHMARK 65 H’CAP – 1200M CHIKORITA – When questioned by Stewards regarding the disappointing performance, jockey M. DuPlessis reported that the gelding travelled fairly and, in his opinion, had a reasonably good run in the lead, however when placed under pressure it failed to respond. Trainer Mr D. Duryea advised that it is her intention for the horse to be sent for an immediate spell. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no significant findings. GRAND DE LAGO – As jockey M. Hellyer was unable to arrive on course due to transport difficulties, L. Tarrant was substituted as rider. TAKOTSUBO – When questioned by Stewards regarding the improved performance, Trainer Mr. R. Lipp explained that the filly had led and set a fast tempo at its most recent start and, as a result, weakened over the final stages. He added that, in his opinion, this race was a more suitable class than the 3YO Handicap it raced in at its last start. Stewards noted the explanation. Race 6: TODD BROWN AIR & ELECTRICAL CLASS 4 PLATE – 1200M BOOM BOOM EPIC – As R. Wiggins was to be overweight, J. Byrne was substituted as rider. R. Wiggins was fined $200. Laid in under pressure in the home straight. Race 7: SIRROMET CLASS 1 PLATE – 2180M IT AIN’T ALL HONEY – Bumped by another runner shortly after the start and became unbalanced. KUIPER – Raced 3 wide in the early stages before being ridden forward to race outside the leader passing the 1400m. Held up rounding the home turn. SHOW A FLICK – Raced 3 wide throughout. TRUE RAIDER – Slow to begin. Held up rounding the home turn. IT’S CHOUX TIME – Tightened between runners shortly after the start. Held up for clear running approaching and rounding the home turn. Jockey M. McNab was reprimanded for using his whip in consecutive strides in the home straight near the 200m. RIVAL MO – Bumped another runner shortly after the start. Race 8: SCHWEPPES BENCHMARK 70 H’CAP – 1350M IDLE SITUATION – Raced 3 wide without cover throughout. FOMO – Made heavy contact with the running rail passing the 1100m and became unbalanced. TYCOON MAR – Steadied when momentarily tightened for room passing the 800m. Lost the near fore plate in running. Stewards sought an explanation from Apprentice C. Frater-Hill in relation to her riding over the final 400m, in particular, the reason for her failing to improve between ELSARAY and CHARLIE CAT soon after straightening when that run presented. Apprentice Frater-Hill explained that rounding the home turn she had felt that shifting wider to improve would be more advantageous to the horse’s chances, however in the early part of the home straight CHARLIE CAT shifted out under pressure which resulted in her mount being held up for clear running. She added that the gelding only worked to the line fairly over the final stages. Stewards advised Apprentice Frater-Hill that after being held up rounding the home turn she had erred in not improving between ELSARAY and CHARLIE CAT in the early part of the home straight, however they were of the view that this error was not so unreasonable to be culpable under the rules. Stewards will interview Trainer Brad Witt a later date. VOLTAIRE LUMIERE – Slow to begin. Overraced in the early stages. STARANTE – As. B. Pengelly was to be overweight, L. Tilley was substituted as rider. B. Pengelly was fined $100. STEWARDS RACE DAY SUMMARY Summary of action concerning licensees ReprimandsRace 1. Tnr. H.
