ChaplinStarter – C. WallaceStewards Secretary – W. Ostrofski GENERAL As apprentice C. Gallagher was not riding due to illness, riding replacements were made as per the Stewards Race Day Summary. Race 1: C-17 GLOBEMASTER MAIDEN H’CAP – 800M SCARAMOUCHE – Raced greenly after passing the 500m and put in a few awkward strides and became awkwardly placed at the heels of HIGH HUSSY, which laid in slightly. Again had to be steadied away from heels passing the 400m. MELD KILPATRICK – Began awkwardly and was bumped by STASH THE SILVER. TYCOON TALE – Raced greenly after passing the 500m and then hung out for the remainder of the event, causing jockey L. Tarrant to desist from riding his mount to the line. Trainer S. Kendrick was advised that a warning would be placed against the filly for its racing manners. SMARTCELLI – Slow to muster speed in the early stages. STASH THE SILVER – Began awkwardly and lost ground. Race 2: WEDGETAIL BM60 H’CAP – 800M POETIC DRAGON – Slightly inconvenienced shortly after the start when crowded for room. Again inconvenienced passing the 500m and shifted in when crowded for room by METIS, which shifted in slightly. NEW ALLIANCE – Hampered passing the 500m when racing in restricted room to the inside of POETIC DRAGON. RED RAFFLE – Slow to begin. Race 3: SUPER HORNET 0 – 65 H’CAP – 2150M OAKFIELD MONARCH – Had to be steadied approaching the winning post on the first occasion when tightened for room by ROMAN DOLL, which shifted in. CANONGATE – Slow to begin. Slightly held up rounding the home turn. WALK TO THE BAR – Slightly held up rounding the home turn. HINCHINSTYLE – Held up for clear running in the early stages of the home straight. INDIAN ROCKS – Raced greenly after obtaining the lead approaching the winning post on the first occasion and laid out passing the 1700m. After leading for the majority of the event commenced to weaken after passing the 600m and finished tailed off. A post-race veterinary examination revealed that the horse had mild dehydration and poor post-race recovery. Trainer M. Dunn was advised that in light of today’s performance the gelding would be required to perform satisfactorily in a barrier trial and a veterinary clearance must be provided prior to the horse racing again. AIRLIE MAN – Had to be steadied away from the heels of INDIAN ROCKS passing the 1700m. LEPRECHAUN LAD – After racing three wide in the early stages was allowed to stride forward to obtain the position outside the leader passing the 1400m. MYSTERIUM – Raced three wide with cover after passing the 1200m. IT’S CHOUX TIME – Slightly held up rounding the home turn and again had some difficulty securing clear running passing the 200m. ROMAN DOLL – Raced three wide without cover in the early and middle stages until passing the 1000m when shifted to a four wide position by AIRLIE MAN, which shifted out to improve. CORSINI – Obliged to check on a number of occasions approaching the 600m when racing at the heels of the weakening INDIAN ROCKS and lost considerable ground. Race 4: BOEING MAIDEN H’CAP – 1350M The start of this race was delayed when the tongue ties on IAMPAIDFOR and SOGNI had to be refitted behind the barriers. CANE CUTTER – Hung in under pressure in the home straight. ALUMINATI – Slightly inconvenienced shortly after the start. MAJAQUA – Raced three wide with cover. SUCCEEDANDCONQUER – Slightly hampered when racing in restricted room to the inside of ODDFELLOW, which laid in. TIGERPOWER – Slow to begin. IAMPAIDFOR – Blundered on jumping. Laid in under pressure over the final 150m. SHARP ARROW – Cast the near fore plate in running. GRAND ALIBI – Cast the off fore plate in running. ODDFELLOW – Laid in slightly passing the 900m. Raced three wide without cover. Laid in in the early part of the home straight. LORIMER – A post-race veterinary examination revealed the gelding to be lame near foreleg and had cast the off hind plate. Trainer T. Cotsiopoulos was advised that the horse will require a veterinary clearance prior to racing again. Race 5: CAN WE GET OUR MONEY BACK? CLASS 1 H’CAP – 1200M As S. Galloway was not riding due to personal reasons, T. Harrison was substituted as the rider of FAST VISION. Trainer B. Gorman was fined $200 for failing to effect a gear change of blinkers off for FAST VISION by the prescribed time. MISS AMANDA was a late scratching at 1:07 pm for veterinary reasons. VIRAL – Bumped on jumping and lost ground. Shifted ground and made contact with another runner on a number of occasions from the 200m until the 100m and then laid in over the final 100m. SIZZLEONTHEBRIDGE – Shifted ground and made contact with another runner on a number of occasions from the 200m until the 100m. SECRET SPIRIT – Began awkwardly. SHADYVALE STAR – Began awkwardly and shifted out. ZARREEN – Bumped on jumping and lost ground. FAST VISION – Slow into stride. OLIVIA ‘N’ ME – Raced three wide with cover and after passing the 700m commenced to hang out and did so for the remainder of the event, placing its rider at some disadvantage. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no significant findings. Trainer J. Forde’s representative advised stewards that they may experiment with some gear changes prior to the horse’s next start. PITBULL – Raced three wide without cover. Race 6: LEMON SASQUATCH RQ SUMMER PROVINCIAL SERIES HEAT – BENCHMARK 75 H’CAP – 1350M As C. Gallagher was not riding due to illness, H. English was substituted as the rider of AANVOERDER. AANVOERDER – Held up rounding the home turn and then was disappointed for a run approaching the 200m and had to alter course back to the inside to obtain clear running. GENERAL COS – Slow to begin. JUST AS LOYAL – Slow to begin. ROTHABYE – Improved on to heels approaching the 400m and had to be steadied. AKAGE – Raced three wide without cover throughout. Race 7: ARCHAEOPTRYX BM60 H’CAP – 1350M MOSSERATI – Began awkwardly. Had to be steadied approaching the 1200m when awkwardly placed at the heels of I’M FAVULOUS. I’M FAVULOUS – Laid in and away from MASSIVE ATTACK approaching the 1200m and in doing so tightened MOSSERATI which was racing to the inside. Cast the off hind plate in running. RITCHFORD – Bumped on jumping. KIJITO – Bumped on jumping. TANGO YANKEE – Began awkwardly and laid in shortly after the start. TEMUJIN’S MOON – Disappointed for a run passing the 400m and was held up until entering the home straight. JET TRAIN – Began awkwardly and shifted out. Improved on to heels approaching the 450m and had to be steadied and then a short distance later again had to be restrained off the heels of TIME TO SAIL. TIME TO SAIL – Stood flat-footed and missed the start by several lengths. Rider M. Hellyer reported that the horse performed below expectations and felt uncomfortable in its action. A post-race veterinary examination revealed that the mare had cardiac arrhythmia. Trainer J. Edwards was advised that the maremust trial satisfactorily and he must produce a veterinary clearance, including the results of an ECG, prior to the horse being permitted to race again. DAZET – After arriving at the barriers rider M. Schrapel requested that his mount undergo a veterinary examination, following which the veterinary surgeon indicated that the horse was passed fit to race.
