Race 1: AUSCO MODULAR CLASSIC CLASS 3 H’CAP – 1350M
 
Stewards accepted trainer B. Phillips’ explanation for the late declaration of A. Fancourt as the rider of TELLOFF.
 
NOTHINGFORTHEPRESS – Began awkwardly. Held up rounding the home turn and in the early part of the home straight. Laid in approaching the 100m, making contact with the hind quarters of TELLOFF and then raced in restricted room for a short distance.
 
ARGIE BARGIE – Bumped on jumping. Raced three wide without cover throughout.
 
MIA’S GOT CLASS – Held up from the 300m until a point passing the 150m.
 
GRANDIOSO – Began awkwardly.
 
TELLOFF – Bumped on the hind quarters by NOTHINGFORTHEPRESS passing the 100m and became unbalanced.
 
Race 2: ACS GROUP MAIDEN PLATE – 2200M
 
DUKE OF KINGSFORD – Slightly inconvenienced after passing the 600m when attempting to shift away from behind the tiring FASTATTACK, which had commenced to weaken.
 
HEIRSROC – When attempting to obtain cover passing the winning post on the first occasion, made the turn out of the straight awkwardly and shifted out.
 
ROCKUZZO – Fractious in the barriers prior to the start being effected.
 
THELLYSON – Raced three wide with cover throughout. Trainer G. Schwenke was advised that a warning would be placed on the gelding for its poor performance.
 
KAZ BAR RUBY – Had to be steadied away from heels when the pace slackened approaching the 1600m.
 
ODIN’S FOLLY – Connections advised that the horse would be ridden more forward if circumstances permit. Fractious in the barriers and as a result of being slow to begin the horse settled at the rear of the field.
 
TERRORFILO – Slow to begin.
 
FASTATTACK – Commenced to weaken after passing the 600m and proved disappointing. Jockey D. Smith could offer no tangible explanation for the filly’s performance other than that the step up in distance may have had some bearing on its finishing effort. Trainer L. Birchley was advised that a warning would be placed on the filly for its poor performance. Mr Birchley advised that it would be his intention to now send the filly for a spell.
 
Race 3: ALL ACCESS HIRE MAIDEN PLATE – 1100M
 
Trainer R. Howard was fined $100 for the late declaration of C. Eaton as the rider of DANCES WITH TIME.
 
MORE THAN DUE was a late scratching at 1:20 pm due to the track upgrade to GOOD 3.
 
GREY SKIES – As the gelding had not started for more than 12 months, it underwent a pre-race veterinary examination which cleared it to race. Began awkwardly. Had to be restrained passing the 800m when awkwardly placed at the heels of MYSTIC BROOK.
 
SHAKEN NOT STIRRED – N. Tomizawa accidentally dropped his whip approaching the 200m.
 
AMERICAN LOVE – Bumped on jumping. Commenced to lay out after passing the 800m.
 
DANCES WITH TIME – Bumped on jumping.
 
ANGEL OF LEON – Bumped on jumping.
 
BUB’S GOLD – Laid in passing the 500m, making contact with the running rail.
 
MYSTIC BROOK – Bumped on jumping.
 
WE WANT IT ALL – Raced three wide without cover throughout. A post-race veterinary examination revealed that the filly went down on both hind bumpers.
 
SMARTCELLI – Slow to begin. A. Fancourt indicated post-race that the filly may have got its tongue over the bit and that she had advised connections that they may need to experiment with a tongue tie for future starts.
 
Race 4: STAYOVER STAKES BENCHMARK 62 H’CAP – 800M
 
Trainer D. Bougoure was fined $100 for the late declaration of apprentice J. Murphy as the rider of EXOTERICAL.
 
THOMAS THE TANK – As the horse had not started for more than 12 months, it underwent a pre-race veterinary examination which cleared it to race. Commenced to lay out after passing the 700m.
 
STELLARCRAFT – Restrained in an attempt to find a position closer to the rail after being in a four wide position passing the 600m. Improved on to heels over the final 80m, had to be eased and went to the line without being fully tested.
 
FLIM FLAM MAN – Began awkwardly.
 
ASK AUDREY – Had to be steadied shortly after the start when crowded for room.
 
SNEAKY SNIPER – Slightly inconvenienced passing the 700m by LADY MCCABE, which hung in.
 
LEICA CELEBRE – Had to be steadied shortly after the start when crowded for room.
 
LADY MCCABE – Hung in despite the efforts of its rider passing the 700m, inconveniencing runners to the inside.
 
Race 5: CHEK AIR-CONDITIONING & DAIKIN QTIS 3-Y-O MAIDEN H’CAP – 1200M
 
The start of this race was delayed initially when SGURR MOR was reluctant to be loaded. The start was further delayed when BALERION proved difficult to load.
 
SGURR MOR – Slightly hampered on jumping.
 
TAMARIN – Laid out rounding the home turn.
 
SASSY STYLE – Tightened between runners on jumping. Had to be steadied away from heels when overracing after passing the 900m.
 
TAVEUNI – Raced three wide without cover throughout.
 
LOVE’S BEST HOPE – Began awkwardly.
 
PHOENIX GLOBAL – Bumped on jumping. Shifted out under pressure after passing the 100m and finished wide on the course.
 
BALERION – Began awkwardly. Restrained to a rearward position three wide with cover near the 900m after being caught wide. Improved on to heels approaching the 100m, was crowded for room for the remainder of the event and went to the line without being fully tested.
 
ZEPHETTO – Began awkwardly. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no significant findings.
 
Race 6: DONGA DERBY CLASS 2 H’CAP – 1200M
 
THE ADMINISTRATOR – Crowded for racing room over the final 50m, resulting in M. Hellyer being restricted in his use of the whip.
 
Race 7: MODULAR MAGIC MILE RATINGS BAND 0 - 62 H’CAP – 1700M
 
NEVER IN DOUBT – Had to be restrained from heels when the pace slackened passing the 800m. Held up for a short distance rounding the home turn.
 
PRINCELY BLAZE – Lost the off fore plate in running.
 
FORZA – Held up rounding the home turn.
 
HENRY’S ON COURSE – Forced wider on the track passing the 1100m by ERROL, which shifted out to improve, and then raced four wide for the remainder of the event.
 
ERROL – Raced three wide without cover after passing the 1100m.
