ROGUE DRUMMER – Slow into stride. Held up approaching the home turn before shifting wider on the course to obtain clear running.

SER SER SCHON – Raced wide in the early stages before reaching the position outside the leader near the 700m. Tired noticeably over the concluding stages. A post-race veterinary examination revealed the mare to be showing signs of slow post-race recovery.

LAMPLIGHT LILI – Lost the near hind plate in running.

SHINSTAR – Held up for clear running approaching the home turn.

MIGHTY MOOSE – Raced three wide throughout.

DASHING OCEAN – Began moderately.

LADY CASUARINA – Held up for clear running approaching the home turn. Raced three wide for the majority of the event.

Race 2: RAY WHITE IPSWICH BENCHMARK 65 H’CAP – 2210M

SUBSOLAR – Began moderately and shortly thereafter was bumped and obliged to steady from the heels of JET TRAIN. Overraced in the early stages. Obliged to steady when awkwardly placed to the inside of JET TRAIN near the 450m. Held up approaching the home turn and shortly thereafter was again steadied from the heels of RED CALVARY and eased wider. Rider dropped his whip and also momentarily dropped the left-hand rein near the 150m, resulting in him being unable to fully test the mare over the concluding stages.

JET TRAIN – Overraced in the early stages. Held up approaching the home turn.

Following the running of this event the track was upgraded to GOOD 4.

Race 3: CHANNEL SEVEN CLASS 2 H’CAP – 800M

I AM VENUS – Raced wide throughout.

GLOBAL FACTOR – Held up for clear running approaching the home turn and was momentarily steadied from the heels of HONOUR PROMISE.

REAL PATRIOT – Steadied from heels near the 700m. Shifted wider near the 500m when racing keenly and was momentarily placed at the heels of HONOUR PROMISE.

Race 4: SKY RACING CLASS 1 H’CAP – 1100M

JULIE’S SPIRIT – Put in an awkward stride near the 200m.

THE LAWYER – Began awkwardly and shifted in.

BUNGAREE BOY – Began awkwardly. Raced three wide for the majority of the event.

SHITAKE – Tightened between runners shortly after the start and was obliged to ease.

GREAT POWERS – Raced three wide with cover in the early stages before shifting back closer to the rails. When asked to comment regarding the tactics adopted, jockey J. Lloyd stated that the instructions were to settle in a rearward position and if possible improve to the inside of runners rather than coming wider in the run to the finish. Jockey Lloyd stated that after beginning well and being caught wide on the course he elected to ease the mare, obtaining a position three wide with cover trailing BUNGAREE BOY. However, approaching the 700m, when that runner could not improve wider on the course, jockey Lloyd believed that his best option would be to shift closer to the rails rather than improving four wide on the course. Jockey Lloyd also felt that approaching the home turn the mare raced greenly before improving to the inside of ACCOMPLISH. After considering the tactics and viewing the patrol footage, stewards noted the explanation provided by jockey Lloyd.

PAPA JO – Raced greenly when placed under pressure over the final 200m.

SUPER FREAK – Momentarily brushed with PAPA JO near the 100m.

Race 5: RIVER 96.4FM CLASS 1 PLATE – 1350M

Trainer J. Walk was fined $100 for failing to declare L. Tarrant as the rider of ZARREEN by the prescribed time.

MY BELLY BUTTON – Began awkwardly. Obliged to steady when cramped for room near the 1000m. Obliged to steady from heels approaching the home turn. Improved on to the heels of tiring runners with 70m remaining and was unable to be fully tested over the concluding stages.

HOT SOCK – Bounded as the start was effected before improving along the rails to occupy a midfield position.

SIZZLED – Obliged to steady from heels approaching the 1200m when the pace eased.

CORAL COAST – Started a short-priced favourite and may have proved disappointing over the concluding stages. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no significant findings.

LADY EIGHTY EIGHT – Slow into stride. Raced three wide for the majority of the event. Shifted wider rounding the home turn.

Race 6: QUEENSLAND TIMES QTIS 3YO MAIDEN H’CAP – 1200M

LICKETY LACHIE – Shifted in near the 800m, tightening runners to the inside. L. Tarrant was advised to exercise more care in similar circumstances in the future. L. Tarrant reported that he had concerns with his mount’s action. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no significant findings. Cast the near fore plate in running.

LOFTY – Slow into stride.

RAWTEKK – Began awkwardly, bumping with STAR SINGER. Momentarily tightened for room near the 800m.

YOUPE – Very slow into stride and lost ground.

STAR SINGER – Bumped on jumping. Held up nearing the home turn. Apprentice B. Nothdurft reported that his saddle shifted shortly after the start, placing him at a disadvantage throughout.

SPLENDID SPIRIT – Hung in in the home straight.

LOVES A LOTTERY – Tightened for room near the 800m.

UNO AMOR – Raced wide in the early stages.

Race 7: GET SOCIAL @IPSWICHTURFCLUB CLASS 3 H’CAP – 1200M

ORLEANS – Examined behind the barriers by the veterinary surgeon, who reported that the gelding had blood in its mouth as a result of dislodging a tooth, and was passed fit to race. After being caught three wide in the early stages, the rider elected to ease and take cover near the 900m.

FORT MYER – Raced three wide throughout. Stewards questioned M. Crawford regarding the tactics he adopted. He stated that his instructions were to have the gelding race on the speed, which was its usual pattern. He added the trainer indicated that if he was to be caught three wide he would be satisfied with that position, noting that whilst positioned three wide, the horse had overraced. Stewards were of the view that jockey Crawford may have erred in his tactics by continuing to sit three wide outside BAREFOOT TYCOON. Stewards were also of the view that near the 800m there was an opportunity to ease and take cover on the back of BAREFOOT TYCOON. After considering jockey Crawford’s ride, stewards strongly advised him that in similar circumstances he would be expected to consider the tactics he adopts.
