Challen (Swab Officials), S. Rolls (Secretary) Race 1 – Ipswich Cup Tix On Sale Class 3 Handicap – 1000m FISH ON – Began awkwardly. OLD TRIESTE – Began awkwardly. Laid in under pressure over the final 200m. NEW ALLIANCE – Bumped on jumping. GLOBAL FACTOR – Passing the 900m had to be steadied from the heels of DYNAMISANTE, which laid in despite the efforts of its rider. Then for some distance after raced ungenerously when being restrained. Race 2 – Queensland Times QTIS 3YO Handicap – 1666mON THE TWEED – When shifted three wide passing the 700m to improve laid in and became awkwardly placed at the heels of CARPE NOCTEM. Again shortly after straightening when placed under pressure laid in causing its rider to stop and straighten. Then continued to lay in over the final 300m. CARPE NOCTEM – Bumped slightly by ON THE TWEED passing the 100m and in doing so made contact with the hind quarters of MISHANI BRAVEHEART. LET’S GO BOBBY – When asked to comment on the performance jockey M. Du Plessis explained that the filly travelled well in the lead and when placed under pressure failed to respond and in his opinion proved disappointing. A post race veterinary examination revealed no significant findings. Race 3 – Carlton Mid Class 2 Plate – 1666m Trainer M. Brosnan was fined $100 for the late declaration of T. Harrison as the rider of WAINUI GOLD. SECOND THOUGHT – Began awkwardly and lost considerable ground. Laid in under pressure over the final 200m. JESSINA – Began awkwardly. RED FLYER – Bumped on jumping. PICKELHAUBE – Held up passing the 400m and then disappointed for a run upon straightening before shifting back to the inside approaching the 200m to obtain clear running.Jockey B. Stewart (MR DUMONT) was fined $200 for excessive use of the whip prior to the 100m Race 4 – Sirromet Colts, Geldings & Entires Maiden Plate – 1200mSILVERBROOK LAD – Slow to begin. Upon straightening laid in and brushed the running rail. MIRACLE WORKER – Began awkwardly. Laid in passing the 300m and became awkwardly placed at the heels of TAKEMEOUTBACK.ROCKSHORE – Began awkwardly. Raced three wide without cover throughout.WHERE’S THE MONEY – After passing the 800m commenced to hang out and raced wide from that point on.SPARTAN JET – When asked to comment on the seemingly improved performance today trainer K. Kemp explained that at the colt’s last start in his opinion the distance was too short for it and the colt raced on inferior ground on that day. Mr Kemp stated that the colt has worked well since its last start and with the step up in distance and being able to dictate in front may have been advantageous for its seemingly improved performance today.Race 5 – Schweppes Fillies & Mares Maiden Plate – 1200mMIRACLESFROMHEAVEN – Proved difficult to load. Began very awkwardly and shifted out. Bumped by FIZZ rounding the home turn. Laid in under pressure in the home straight. Slightly cramped for racing room approaching the winning post and was unable to be fully tested by its rider. AUSFALL – Bumped on jumping. ROSSMAY – Bumped on jumping. EULEILAH – Hampered on jumping. Forced wider rounding the home turn. FIZZ – Slow to muster speed in the early stages. Passing the 400m had to be checked and shifted out away from the heels of the tiring FORTUNATE DECREE and in doing so made heavy contact with MIRACLESFROMHEAVEN, which was forced wider. Slightly cramped for racing room approaching the winning post and was unable to be fully tested by its rider. LET’S BOOM – Raced three wide without cover throughout. FORTUNATE DECREE – Jockey T. Harrison reported that it was not her intention to be in a forward position however after beginning well from a wide barrier was allowed to stride forward to obtain a position near the lead. MISS DRUMBEATS – After settling in a rearward position failed to remain in touch with the body of the field prior to rounding the home turn and finished almost twenty five lengths from the winner. In light of the poor performance today trainer R. Drysdale was advised that a warning would be placed against the mare. Race 6 – River 94.9FM Benchmark 62 Handicap – 1350mRED MONKEY – Stood flatfooted as the start was effected and lost ground. After passing the 1000m commenced to overrace and was shifted to a position three wide with cover. ON DEMAND – Began awkwardly and shifted out. FANX – Began awkwardly and was bumped on jumping. HARADIFY – Began awkwardly and threw its head in the air shortly after the start. THE GROOM – Bumped on jumping. Steadied away from heels passing the 900m. STORMY GREY – Raced three wide without cover throughout. Race 7 – Channel Seven Class 1 Handicap – 1200m Prior to leaving the enclosure jockey M. McGillivray was accidentally stood on his right foot by the Clerk of Course ‘s horse. After suffering no apparent injury jockey McGillivray advised he did not require the attention of the QAS officers. MUSIC – Began awkwardly. Raced three wide without cover from the 900m. CAPTAIN CARTS – Began awkwardly and shortly after was tightened for room. Overraced in the middle stages and had to be steadied on a number of occasions. BRUTUS – Hampered on jumping. WILLO TITTO – Bumped on jumping and then shortly after was tightened for room. A short distance later again had to be checked when tightened for room. AXELLA – After jumping was bumped on the hind quarters by WILLO TITTO, and as a result shifted in then laid in tightening both WILLO TITTO and CAPTAIN CARTS. Raced three wide in the early stages before obtaining cover passing the 800m. LOUIE LA’JOY – Shortly after the start shifted out forcing SOLO ARTIST out onto CAPTAIN CARTS, which had to be checked. SOLO ARTIST – Overraced in the early stages and raced fiercely for a short distance. BY THE LAW – Raced three wide with cover after passing the 900m.
