Race 1: WHITTINGTON @ GRANDVIEW STUD QTIS 3YO MAIDEN PLATE – 1350M

GROUP THINK – Began awkwardly and as a result settled near the rear of the field. Inclined to overrace in the early stages. Rider elected to improve wider on the course leaving the 700m, however, approaching the home turn was forced even wider when runners to its inside elected to improve. When asked to comment on the gelding’s performance, M. McGillivray stated it was his view that the tempo of the event did not work in his favour and he was obliged to make a very wide run approaching the home turn. He was also of the view that the gelding may be better suited at a larger track. He also noted that the gelding was inexperienced and inclined to change legs when forced wider.

BURPEE BAE – Inclined to overrace in the early stages.

REAL SWEET – Slow into stride.

Race 2: SIRROMET CLASS 5 H'CAP – 1200M

CONNOISSEUR – Began awkwardly and shifted out.

ATLANTIC CITY – Performed disappointingly, beaten a considerable margin. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no apparent abnormalities. Trainer T. Timbery was advised that in light of today’s performance a metropolitan bar would be placed on the gelding until its form improves to the required standard.

Following the running of this event the track was upgraded to GOOD 3.

Race 3: CARLTON MID 0 – 75 H'CAP – 1680M

LE DUDE – When asked to comment regarding the gelding’s performance, R. Plumb was of the view that it may not have backed up from its most recent engagement on 28 September. He also noted that today’s track conditions may not have favoured the gelding.

REALING – Bumped heavily on the hind quarters and forced off stride rounding the home turn.

BENICO’S PRINCE – Inclined to overrace in the early and middle stages.

VAULTING AMBITION – Held up approaching the home turn before attempting a run between LAST LIGHT and REALING which disappointed, then shifted back to the rail in an attempt to obtain clear running.

Stewards noted jockey M. Hellyer’s inability to ride SAYS WHO due to personal circumstances.

GLAM ROCK – Began awkwardly and shifted out.

EULEILAH – Slow into stride. A post-race veterinary examination revealed a laceration to the near fore foot.

WINNING BROTHERS – Bumped on jumping.

BOOM EXPRESS – Bumped on jumping.

DREAMTIME MAGIC – Began awkwardly and shifted in. Caught three wide when racing in a rearward position before its rider elected to improve near the 700m. Forced four wide approaching the home turn.

Race 5: TAB MAIDEN H'CAP – 1350M

FLYING HONOUR – Overraced in the early stages before improving on to the heels of GREY COURT passing 800m, then shifted wider on the course, proving difficult to ride. Hung out on the home turn despite the efforts of its rider, again proving difficult to ride. A post-race veterinary examination revealed the gelding to have cardiac arrhythmia. Connections were advised that prior to the horse’s next start it will require a veterinary clearance, including the results of an ECG, and must trial satisfactorily.

CANISTER – Slow into stride and shifted out. Commenced to overrace passing the 800m when the pace steadied.

GOLDEN BASIL – Raced three wide for the majority of the event.
