Race 1: FOLLOW @IPSWICHTURFCLUB QTIS 2YO MAIDEN PLATE – 1350M
 
DUSI CANOE – Bumped on jumping. Disappointed for a run to the inside of WON CAPILANO and to the outside of SQUARE DANCE upon entering the home straight, and a short distance later had to alter course back to the inside of SQUARE DANCE to secure clear running.
 
KOONUNGA HILL – Steadied away from the heels of WON CAPILANO approaching the 1100m.
 
SINO DEFEAT – Bumped on the hindquarters by TOUCH OF BALI rounding the home turn and became unbalanced.
 
SQUARE DANCE – Laid out under pressure over the final 250m.
 
ELLASTRA – Began awkwardly. When racing keenly passing the 1000m, the filly was steadied away from the heels of KOONUNGA HILL which shifted in and, as a result, brushed the running rail.
 
TOUCH OF BALI – Laid in passing the 1000m and crowded KOONUNGA HILL. Buffeted between WON CAPILANO and SINO DEFEAT rounding the home turn, and then commenced to lay in shortly after and was unable to be fully tested in the run to the line.
 
WON CAPILANO – Bumped by DUSI CANOE which was attempting to improve to the inside whilst rounding the home turn.
 
Race 2: CARLTON MID MAIDEN H’CAP – 1200M
 
OSAYCAN – Slow to begin and then hampered by POTAWATOMI. Raced keenly in the early stages when in a rearward position. Held up from the 450m until passing the 300m.
 
JIMMY NEUTRON – Slow to muster speed in the early stages. Steadied away from the heels of RONNIE approaching the 600m. Held up rounding the home turn, and had some difficulty securing clear running in the early stages of the home straight.
 
RONNIE – Apprentice N. Fazackerley accidently dropped his whip near the 100m.
 
POTAWATOMI – Began awkwardly and shifted out abruptly.
 
Race 3: SIRROMET QTIS 3YO MAIDEN H’CAP – 1200M
 
GLOBAL CITIZEN – Raced keenly in the early stages. Laid in under pressure passing the 100m.
 
THE POWER OF ONE – Raced keenly in the early stages. When asked to comment on the tactics adopted, apprentice S. Tomlinson advised that he had been instructed to go forward today, as the colt had led and performed well in a recent jump out. He added that at the colt’s first start it was the intention for it to race in a forward position, however after being slow away it settled further back in the field than anticipated.
 
PLENTY OF ZIP – Failed to respond after passing the 400m, and then commenced to weaken and finished in a rearward position. When asked to comment on the performance, jockey J. Bayliss advised that his mount in inclined to hang out throughout. A post-race veterinary examination of the gelding failed to reveal any abnormalities.
 
SE RENDRE – As R. Maloney was to be overweight, M. McGillivray was substituted as rider. R. Maloney was fined $200.
 
FOXAAR – Raced 3 wide without cover throughout.
 
DARING BELLE – Began awkwardly. Raced in restricted room to the inside of GLOBAL CITIZEN which laid in over the final 50m.
 
LIVE MUSIC – Bumped on jumping. Improved to the inside of BLACK KITTY for a short distance passing the 400m and had to be restrained. Disappointed for a run to the inside of BLACK KITTY approaching the 200m and had to alter course to the outside to secure clear running.
 
NUCLEAR BOOM – Began awkwardly. Slightly inconvenienced over the final 100m when crowded for room between SE RENDRE and WILD AND READY.
 
Race 4: SCHWEPPES BENCHMARK 68 H’CAP – 2200M
 
DREAM BUILDER – Slow to begin. Shifted to a 3 wide position with cover to improve passing the 700m.
 
CHECKMATE LAD – Began awkwardly. Unable to improve passing the 500m, and was held up until approaching the 300m.
 
SANTARENE – Shifted 3 wide to improve passing the 700m.
 
BOLTIN’ DESIRE – Became awkward when racing in restricted room to the inside of DASHING SPECIAL which laid in passing the 300m.
 
Race 5: UNDER THE LOUVRE @ GRANDVIEW STUD MAIDEN PLATE – 1350M
 
ARCADIAN SHORES – When asked to comment on the tactics adopted, jockey B. Ainsworth advised that it was her intention to obtain a handy position with cover, however after beginning well from the wide barrier, she was unable to obtain that position and therefore allowed her mount to stride forward and assume the lead. Stewards noted the explanation.
 
DEBONAIR DES – Began awkwardly. Raced 3 wide with cover throughout.
 
PHOENIX SHADOW – Improved onto the heels of FAST THINKER and had to be restrained passing the 800m and, as a result, shifted wider on the track.
 
WHY WOULDN’T YOU – Hampered on jumping. Improved onto the heels of ATOMIC BOMB, which laid in whilst weakening approaching the 300m and, as a result, WHY WOULDN’T YOU had to alter course back to the inside to secure clear running.
 
ATOMIC BOMB – Trainer M. Dunn was fined $100 for the late declaration of R. Palmer as rider. Bumped shortly after the start. Raced 3 wide without cover throughout. Forced wider on the track by PHOENIX SHADOW which shifted out passing the 800m.
 
FI FI NO FUSS – Slow to begin. Held up from the 400m until approaching the 250m. Disappointed for a run between GREYT INTENTIONS and FAST THINKER approaching the 100m and, as a result, had to alter course to the inside of GREY INTENTIONS to secure clear running.
 
Following the running of this race the track was upgraded from a Soft 5 to a Good 4.
 
Race 6: CARPET COURT IPSWICH QTIS 3YO H’CAP – 1350M
 
VIOLET – Stewards accepted the explanation provided by trainer M. Nolan regarding the late scratching of the filly at 8.00am.
 
ANGUS THE BLACK – Shifted out under pressure approaching the 100m.
 
EMMA’S JET – Held up from the 450m until the 350m. Inconvenienced by ANGUS THE BLACK which shifted out approaching the 100m.
 
JUST JESSIE – Held up from the 400m until approaching the 250m before altering course to the inside of BRONCKS to secure clear running.
 
EPICURIOUS – Slow to begin. Shifted 3 wide to improve after passing the 700m.
 
ICONISTA – Began awkwardly.
 
BRONCKS – As R. Wiggins was to be overweight, M. McGillivray was substituted as rider. R. Wiggins was fined $200. When asked to comment about the tactics adopted, jockey M. McGillivray advised that it was always his intention to lead in the race, however after being ridden forward to lead from the wide barrier, his mount refused to settle after passing the 1100m and overraced for the majority. He added that, in his opinion, the combination of the extra pressure being applied in the early stages and the horse overracing may have contributed to its finishing effort today. Stewards noted the explanation.
 
EFFORT – Raced 3 wide without cover in early stages, before being restrained to a position with cover at the rear of the field passing the 900m.
 
CONCEALED DYNAMITE – Hung out rounding the home turn.
 
Race 7: RAY WHITE IPSWICH CLASS 1 PLATE – 1200M
 
The declaration of correct weight was delayed to enable Stewards and the riders of the dead-heating runners for 2nd place to view the photo finish print. On reviewing the photo finish print, the Judge, acting under the provisions of AR. 214(4)(a), elected to amend the placings as follows: 1st DYNAMIC THINKER, 2nd PURE INDULGENCE, 3rd POETIC CHOICE and 4th BELLE’S PLUCK. Stewards were satisfied with the amended placings, and declared correct weight.
 
BELLE’S PLUCK – Jockey M. Murphy was fined $200 for using his whip more than the permitted amount prior to the 100m. In determining penalty, Stewards took into consideration the totality of jockey Murphy’s whip use.
 
FA FA – Buffeted between ZARAFET and MOUNT BEAUTY when racing in restricted room after MOUNT BEAUTY was taken in by BELLE’S PLUCK passing the 900m. On return to scale, jockey J. Byrne was at a loss to explain the below market expectation performance of the gelding today which, in his opinion, was disappointing. A post-race veterinary examination of the gelding failed to reveal any abnormalities.
 
POETIC CHOICE – Ridden forward in an attempt to find a handy position with cover, however was unable to do so, and then commenced to overrace passing the 900m and its rider elected to stride forward to obtain the joint leading position 3 wide without cover.  
 
PURE INDULGENCE – Began awkwardly. Improved onto the heels of ZARAFET passing the 400m, and was held up for clear running until approaching the 250m.
 
CUBAN MINT – Slow to begin.
 
MOUNT BEAUTY – Crowded for room and bumped on the hindquarters passing the 900m and, as a result, became unbalanced, and was then forced inwards before having to be restrained from the heels of BELLE’S PLUCK which shifted in when not completely clear. Jockey M. Murphy, the rider of BELLE’S PLUCK, was reprimanded as a result of this incident. Raced 3 wide with cover after passing the 800m.
 
ZARAFET – Bumped by FA FA when racing in restricted room to the inside of that runner passing the 900m.
 
PEPPINO – Improved onto the heels of TRANSVERSALE after passing the 100m, and went to the line without being fully tested.
 
Race 8: TAB CLASS 1 PLATE – 1200M
 
During the preliminary, TACTICAL MOVE took charge of its rider, dislodging R. Maloney near the outside rail at the 1600m. TACTIAL MOVE, was subsequently declared a late scratching by Stewards at 2.42pm. On the announcement of correct weight, Stewards ordered that all monies invested on the gelding be refunded, with the following deductions to apply to successful wagers placed prior to 2.42pm:
 
32 cents in the dollar for the Win #2
24 cents in the dollar for place of winner #2
21 cents in the dollar for 2nd place #1
21 cents in the dollar for 3rd place #10
 
Jockey R. Maloney, who had been winded as a result of this incident, was assessed by Queensland Ambulance Officers and found to have only sustained some slight bruising to his left leg. Jockey Maloney was cleared to fulfil his remaining engagement in Race 9.
 
Co-trainers T. & T. Edmonds were advised that TACTICAL MOVE will be required to perform to the satisfaction of Stewards in a long jump-out or barrier trial prior to racing again.
 
COOK IT CHARLIE – Laid out under pressure over the final 200m resulting in jockey T. Marshall having to stop riding on a number of occasions.
 
ENDLESS RIVER – Hampered on two occasions by COOK IT CHARLIE which shifted out approaching the 200m.
 
HALLOWED GIRL – Trainer C. Anderson was fined $100 for the late declaration of J. Orman as rider. Restrained from a wide barrier to obtain a position closer to the rail at the rear of the field.
 
Race 9: CHANNEL SEVEN CLASS 5 H’CAP – 1200M
 
PINNACLE STAR – Shifted out under pressure over the final 150m.
 
BRENDA – A post-race veterinary examination of the mare failed to reveal any abnormalities.
 
TYCOON STREET – Held up from the 500m until approaching the 300m.
 
THE GREAT BOOMBINO – Bumped heavily at the start by TAKOTSUBO and then made contact with ARCHER’S TREASURE and lost ground.
 
TAKOTSUBO – Began awkwardly.  
 
ARCHER’S TREASURE – A post-race veterinary examination revealed the gelding to be short striding in both forelegs and to be lame in its near fore leg. The trainer’s representative was advised that the gelding will require a veterinary clearance prior to next racing.
 
Race 10: BENDIGO BANK BOOVAL BRANCH BENCHMARK 65 H’CAP – 1350M
 
VICTORY DANCE – Crowded for room between THE IRONS and LADY RINGO on jumping, and lost ground. Held up and restrained from the heels of BROCKY after passing the 400m. A post-race veterinary examination revealed that the gelding had bled from its off side nostril. Trainer T. Pascoe was advised that the gelding will be required to gallop 1000m in the presence of a Steward prior to racing again. Mr. Pascoe was further advised that the gelding will require an endoscopic examination, the results of which must be provided to Stewards.
 
BROCKY – Raced keenly in the early stages and was restrained from the heels of TOO HARD TO MISS passing the 900m. Held up from the 450m until approaching the 300m.
 
PONYTALES – Disappointed for a run to the outside of TOO HARD TO MISS and to the inside of LADY RINGO passing the 400m and was held up until passing the 300m.
 
GALA MISS – Slow into stride.
 
TABARD – Raced 3 wide without cover throughout.
 
Race 11: SKY RACING BENCHMARK 65 H’CAP – 1350M
 
IVY’S DREAM – Bumped on jumping.
 
COMMISSIONER – Raced 3 wide without cover throughout.
 
PRIDE OF DARCI – Lost the off fore plate in running. Steadied away from the heels of IVY’S DREAM approaching the 800m. Held up rounding the home turn.
 
CHARLIE’S WORLD – Commenced to overrace when in a trailing position passing the 1100m, and then brushed the running rail passing the 900m. Steadied away from the heels VINCO near the 800m. Jockey R. Wiggins was reminded of his obligation regarding his use of the whip prior to the 100m.
 
VINCO – Laid in under pressure over the final 150m.
 
ELRAAZY – Bumped on jumping.
 
IN WAVES – Bumped on jumping. Lost the near fore plate in running.
 
CATMOSPHERE – Became fractious in the barriers and reared on a couple of occasions prior to the start being effected. Began awkwardly. Brushed by VINCO which laid in passing the 100m.
