WallaceStewards Secretary – M. Weir SUPPLEMENTARY REPORT From Sunshine Coast Sunday 19 July 2020Race 5: Trainer S. Kendrick advised that he was satisfied with the gelding’s post-race recovery, however it is his intention to freshen the horse and step it back in distance. GENERAL After arriving on course, Stewards conducted a track inspection in consultation with club officials and elected to move the rail back to the true position from approximately the 1350m to the 1100m in order to negate a section of the track which was heavier. As jockey B. Thornton was not attending the meeting today due to injury, riding replacements were made as per the Stewards Race Day Summary. As C. Bayliss was not attending the meeting today due to personal reasons a riding replacement was made as per the Stewards Race Day Summary. Race 1: CARLTON MID MAIDEN PLATE – 2150M The start of this race was delayed when HOSTILE STAR required farrier attention behind the barriers. RIVERKY – Began awkwardly. Raced 3 wide with cover in the early stages before obtaining a position outside the leader near the 1200m. FIORELLI – Raced keenly in the early stages. When asked to comment on the performance, jockey J. Orman advised that it was his intention to race in a more forward position today, however when multiple runners improved, he was forced to settled further back in the field than anticipated. WIND RIVER – Began very awkwardly and settled in a rearward position. HOSTILE STAR – After racing 3 wide in the early stages, its rider elected to improve and reached the leading position passing the 1600m. MARECAT – Raced wide in the early stages before obtaining the lead approaching the 1200m. PRONOUNCEMENT – Bumped whilst rounding the home turn and became momentarily unbalanced when SO YOU’RE MAGIC shifted out to improve. STARRY BEAUTY – Connections advised that the filly resents the use of the whip and will be ridden hands and heels today as it has done previously. Race 2: SIRROMET QTIS 2YO MAIDEN H’CAP – 800M The start of this race was delayed approximately 3½ minutes when CUE TO CONQUER required farrier attention behind the barriers, and also underwent a pre-race veterinary examination before being cleared to start. The start was also delayed when ELECTRIC DRAGON had to be resaddled behind the barriers. Prior to the declaration of correct weight, Stewards reviewed the footage to ascertain whether MISHANI FORTUNE had gained an unfair advantage at the start. On review, Stewards were satisfied that the starter had effected the start, however MISHANI FORTUNE did marginally force its gate open after lunging forward in the barriers. As Stewards were satisfied that the filly had not gained an unfair advantage correct weight was declared. CUE TO CONQUER – Raced 4 wide with cover throughout. BLUE HARMONY – Raced 4 wide throughout. CHEMICAL EX – Stood awkwardly in the barriers, was slow to begin and then failed to muster early speed and lost ground. DAPHNE FRANCES – Began awkwardly and lost some ground. MISS TWENTY TWO – Stewards accepted the explanation provided by trainer C. Munce regarding the late scratching of the filly at 8.15am. SWEET RHAPSODY – Stewards accepted the explanation provided by trainer L. Ross regarding the late declaration of apprentice J. Murphy as rider. STRUMAN – Slow into stride and shortly after was momentarily tightened between runners. Raced 3 wide with cover throughout. Shifted in marginally rounding the home turn and was momentarily steadied from the heels of WHITSUNDAY LAD which shifted out marginally. WHITSUNDAY LAD – Raced 3 wide throughout. Steadied from the heels of CROWN LAW which shifted out near the 250m. Race 3: SCHWEPPES CLASS 3 PLATE – 800M Upon arriving at the barriers, MOCKING underwent a pre-race veterinary examination and was cleared to start. BEWARE – Slow into stride. Made the home turn awkwardly and shifted wider. MOUNTAIN COURAGE – Forced wider for some distance when ALL SPUR laid out between the 700m and the 400m. ALL SPUR – Jockey H. Phillips reported that her mount was inclined to lay out throughout. Jockey H. Phillips was fined $300 under AR132(7)(a)(ii) for using her whip on 7 occasions prior to the 100m, which is 2 more than permitted. INKY BAY – Began awkwardly. MOCKING – Began awkwardly. Race 4: SKY RACING MAIDEN H’CAP – 1200M EAGLES FOREVER – Made the home turn awkwardly and hung out. AMENDOLA – As the gelding had not raced for over 12 months, it underwent a pre-race veterinary examination and was cleared to start. Connections advised that it would be the intention to limit the use of the whip on the gelding. Tightened between runners leaving the 800m. Trainer G. Livermore was advised that the gelding, which performed poorly today, will be barred from TAB venues until such time as its form improves to a satisfactory standard. PURE DEAL – After being restrained from its wide barrier as the start was effected, the gelding failed to muster early speed despite the efforts of its rider. Jockey T. Harrison advised that, in her opinion, the horse would be better suited over further distances than that of today’s event. B’DAISY – Raced 3 wide without cover throughout. BLAZING FAIRY – Slow into stride. A post-race veterinary examination revealed that the filly had sustained contusions to its off hind hock. Following the running of this race, the track was upgraded from a Soft 7 to a Soft 6. Race 5: TAB FILLIES AND MARES BENCHMARK 60 H’CAP – 1200M KASITA – Trainer T. Webb was fined $100 under LR67 for the late declaration of N. Evans as rider. Raced keenly in the early and middle stages. When questioned by Stewards regarding the tactics adopted on the filly, jockey N. Evans advised that his instructions were to ride his mount back in the field and to also ride it for luck if possible. When questioned regarding the possibility of improving to the outside of CLAIRVUE MISSY leaving the 600m, jockey Evans advised that at that point of the race he would have had to restrain and come back behind the heels of CLAIRVUE MISSY to improve. He added that approaching the home turn the filly was disappointed for a run between JESSINA and DRUSILLA when DRUSILLA shifted out marginally causing jockey Evans to look for runs nearer to the inside before working to the line. After assessing the ride and the comments tendered, Stewards noted jockey Evans’ comments. ANNABETH – Began awkwardly. CLAIRVUE MISSY – Raced 3 wide without cover throughout. Race 6: BENDIGO BANK BOOVAL BRANCH COLTS, GELDINGS & ENTIRES BENCHMARK 60 H’CAP – 1200M BIG ARJAY – Held up approaching the home turn. When attempting to obtain a run to the outside of REAL ESTATE rounding the home turn, shifted out and bumped BOSS’S BOY before shifting back to the inside to obtain clear running. BOSS’S BOY – Bumped rounding the home turn. SIR MAGIC – Bumped heavily between runners on jumping resulting in jockey L. Tilley momentarily losing the use of his off side iron and, as a result, the gelding lost some ground. CRAB BOY – Began awkwardly and shifted in. OUR ROCKY – Raced 3 wide without cover throughout. Jockey C. Taylor reported that his mount was inclined to hang throughout. STUDLY ROOSTER – Overraced in the early stages. ROGUE DRUMMER – Raced 3 wide with cover throughout. THE WARDSMEN – Made contact with the running rail leaving the 800m. NAKANAI – Began awkwardly and shifted out. Raced 3 wide with cover throughout. Race 7: CARPET COURT IPSWICH CLASS 1 H’CAP – 1666M The start of this race was delayed when jockey Adam Spinks was dislodged from A LITTLE CRAFTY after his saddle slipped during the preliminary. Jockey Adam Spinks was examined by Queensland Ambulance Officers and cleared to fulfil his engagement. The saddle on A LITTLE CRAFTY was adjusted prior to the gelding being loaded in the barriers. NEPTUNE’S CHOICE – Very slow into stride and, as a result, settled further back than anticipated. JUST WISHING – Began awkwardly and shifted out. When placed under hard riding approaching the 200m, shifted out abruptly before being corrected by its rider. DELECTOR – Momentarily steadied near the 200m when JUST WISHING shifted out abruptly.
