GENERAL
 
As App M. Kennedy failed to arrive on course due to transport difficulties Stewards permitted rider changes as per the Stewards Race Day Summary.
 
Race 1: Dine@thebarnfamilyrestaurant QTIS 2YO Maiden Plate – 1350m
 
MISHANI QUEEN – Tightened for room shortly after the start and lost ground.
 
REDENZO GAL  - Tightened for room shortly after the start and lost ground. Laid out rounding the home turn.
 
MARMION – Overraced and got its head up in the middle stages.
 
THE CULLINAN - Overraced and got its head up in the middle stages. App S. Tomlinson reported that the colt raced greenly throughout.
 
CALM SEEKER – Approaching the 800m improved onto heels and had to be checked and shifted wider.
 
SIENNA’S CHOICE – Approaching the 800m was momentarily inconvenienced and became awkward at the heels of CALM SEEKER, which shifted out.
 
AMORE PRIMUS – Laid out rounding the home turn and proved difficult to ride out for the remainder.
 
PACKAGE – Raced greenly throughout.
Race 2: Carlton Mid QTIS 3YO Maiden Plate – 1680m
 
SPURIOUS – Slow to begin. Raced in restricted room and had to be eased leaving the 600m. Laid in under pressure in the home straight.
 
ARJAYAR – Slow to begin. A post-race veterinary examination of the gelding, which tailed off, revealed no apparent abnormalities. However, Trainer P. Duff undertook to have the gelding further examined including an endoscopic examination, the results of which would be forwarded to Stewards.
 
MAKEDON – Raced keenly in the early stages.
 
Following the running of this event the track was upgraded to a Good 4.
 
 
Race 3: Sirromet Benchmark 62 Handicap – 2170m
 
FRASCATI MISS – Raced keenly and got its head up approaching the winning post on the first occasion.
 
MOSS GO NOW – Raced three wide without cover until obtaining a position with cover near the 1400m.
 
YOUNGBLOOD – Laid in when placed under pressure in the home straight.
 
CHARLIE’S WORLD – Raced wide without cover until obtaining a position with cover behind the leaders near the 1500m. When the pace steadied approaching the 1200m elected to shift to a three wide position to improve and obtain the position outside the leader near the 1100m. Commenced to weaken leaving the 500m and finished a distant last. Trainer R. Heathcote advised Stewards that he would review the gelding’s current preparation. Nonetheless, Mr Heathcote was advised that the gelding’s nomination would be refused at metropolitan and provincial TAB meetings.
 
 
Race 4: Schweppes Benchmark 58 Handicap – 1680m
 
As G. Colless was indisposed Stewards permitted D. Smith to be substituted as the rider of SIR PELLIAS.
 
TICINO BELLE – Slow to begin.
 
MR RED SHOES – Shortly after the start was tightened for room and lost ground.
 
WILLO TITTO – Overraced in the early stages. Held up from the 500m until the 250m.
 
RISING KING – Raced keenly in early stages. Raced in restricted room and had to be eased near the 1300m when WILLY BE LUCKY laid in slightly.
 
SIR PELLIAS – Raced in restricted room and made contact with the running rail near the 1300m.
 
CAREERING AWAY – App M. Wishart accidentally dropped her whip near the 250m.
 
REAGAN’S MISTAKE – Raced three wide with cover throughout.
 
RESET’S SON – Raced three wide with cover throughout.
 
WILLY BE LUCKY – Raced three wide without cover throughout.
 
 
Race 5: Sky Racing Maiden Handicap – 800m
 
STARLETTO – As the mare had not raced since December 2018 it underwent a pre-race veterinary examination and was cleared to start.
 
IZARA’S DREAM – Slow to begin.
 
ROWLING – Began awkwardly. Raced wide throughout.
 
DOLLYMOLLY – Hampered on jumping. Raced wide throughout.
 
DREAMFULLY – Shortly after the start was crowded for room when HIDDEN SPRING shifted out. Jockey B. Newport (HIDDEN SPRING) was reprimanded for this incident.
 
NAYTELLRHI BIRD – Tightened for room shortly after the start.
 
MAEVILA RULER – Hung out rounding the home turn.
 
HIDDEN SPRING – Raced wide throughout.
 
LITTLE VULPINE – When asked to comment on the seemingly improved performance Trainer T. Thomas stated that at its first start at Bundaberg on a sand track the mare jumped awkwardly and as a result settled back in the field and in his opinion did not appreciate the sand kick back. Mr Thomas added that the mare had worked well leading up to its start today and he had expected an improved effort.
 
 
Race 6: TAB QTIS 3YO Maiden Plate – 1350m
 
EFFEXX – Began very awkwardly and lost ground. Leaving the 100m was crowded for room and had to be steadied.
 
ZEELUCK – Raced keenly in the early stages. Laid in over the concluding stages.
 
CHALET GRAND – Raced keenly in the early and middle stages.
 
TRUMPED UP – Laid in over the concluding stages. When asked to comment on the performance Jockey J. Byrne explained that the gelding settled in a favourable position and travelled reasonably well throughout. Jockey Byrne added that when placed under pressure turning for home failed to respond to his riding and laid in for the majority of the home straight and proved disappointing. Trainer R. Heathcote agreed with Jockey Byrne’s comments and advised he would notify Stewards if anything came to  light in the coming days.
 
TIME SAVER – Commenced to lay out approaching the 200m and over the concluding stages became unbalanced and had to be corrected and as a result lost ground.
 
ALLARES – Approaching the winning post raced in restricted room and had to be steadied.
 
RED DENARO – Raced three wide without cover throughout.
 
PUNCTUALITY – Raced three wide with cover throughout.
 
SIZZALATING - A post-race veterinary examination revealed the gelding to have sustained an injury to its off fore tendon. Trainer K. Best was advised that a veterinary clearance would be required prior to the gelding trialling or racing again.
 
 
Race 7: Thoroughbred Sports Bar Now Open Class 2 Plate – 1200m
 
Trainer B. Gorman was fined $200 for the late declaration of L. Tilley as the rider of KOTA FLYER.
 
LA DALLIANCE – Tightened for room at the start and lost considerable ground between SUPERBOWL SUNDAY and TREMBLING. Raced in restricted room approaching the 100m when BLUEY’S READY laid in.
 
SUPERBOWL SUNDAY – Began awkwardly. Laid out rounding the home turn.
 
STILL INVINCIBLE – Began very awkwardly and became unbalanced for a short distance.
 
TREMBLING – Bumped on the hind quarters at the start. Near the 900m when racing keenly raced in restricted room to the inside of HEART OF AUSTRALIA, which was laying in.
 
RUN THE CLUTTER – Shortly after the start was tightened for room between STILL INVINCIBLE and FLATTER.
 
HEART OF AUSTRALIA – Raced three wide without cover from the 800m.
 
BLUEY’S READY – Laid in under pressure over the concluding stages.
 
CLICKETY CLICKS – Raced four wide without cover throughout.
 
FLATTER – Raced three wide with cover throughout.
 
LEOPARD QUEEN – Raced three wide with cover throughout.
 
 
Race 8: Carpet Court Ipswich Benchmark 58 Handicap – 1350m
 
The start was delayed when FLYING YANKEE underwent a veterinary examination at the request of its rider and was subsequently cleared to start.
 
SAYS WHO – Slow to begin.
 
BROOKER AVENUE – Slow to begin. Near the 700m improved onto heels and had to be steadied.
 
BAMBALAM – Raced keenly with its head in the air in the early stages.
 
TEQUILA BOOM – Near the 1000m had to be steadied from heels when FLYING YANKEE laid out slightly.
 
MONASHEE RIDGE – Suffered a catastrophic injury near the 950m making contact with the running rail and fell. App M. Wishart was transported to hospital for further observation and will require a medical certificate prior to riding again. The gelding was subsequently euthanased and routine samples were taken.
 
WHOSTOPPEDTHERAIN, FLYING YANKEE, BUSTA MOVE, TEQUILA BOOM, TONY’S DECREE, BAMBALAM, HAYATE, HIGHLAND SKIPPER, KIRRO, SAYS WHO, BROOKER AVENUE, MISS ALLE BE were all inconvenienced near the 950m due to the fallen runner.
 
KIRRO – After suffering interference from the fallen horse Jockey T. Harrison elected to take no further part in the race.
 
MISS ALLE BE – Shortly after being inconvenienced near the 950m Jockey R. Fradd lost the use of his irons and took no competitive part in the race.
 
Following the running of the event a Club official also required treatment from the QAS officers and was subsequently transported to hospital for observation.
