Smith advised that BATTLE THROUGH, which hung out rounding the home turn, has had veterinary tests and chiropractic treatment carried out on the gelding after it hung out rounding the home turn. Race 1: SIRROMET QTIS Three-Year-Old BENCHMARK 65 Handicap 1350 metres NIAB – Raced ungenerously at various stages due to a moderate tempo. ROKE – Rider B. Nothdurft reported that the colt hung out for a major part of the race. A post-race veterinary examination of the colt did not reveal any significant findings. Race 2: QUEST IPSWICH Maiden Handicap 2150 metres The training partnership of John Symons and Sheila Laxon were fined $100 for failing to declare A. Chau as the rider for SUN ‘N’SURF by the required time. The start of this race was delayed when NICOSMILE proved difficult to load into the barriers. SUN 'N' SURF – Began awkwardly and shifted out abruptly. Inclined to lay out leaving the 400m. WOOLLAHRA – Weakened from 600m and performed poorly. A post-race veterinary examination did not reveal any significant findings. Trainer Matt Boland indicated the gelding would now be retired, nevertheless he was advised should it continue to race it would be required to trial satisfactorily. NICOSMILE – Proved difficult to load. Inclined to lay in under pressure over the final 100m. LUNAFREYA – Slow to begin. Tightened near 50m. PRINCE HUSSON – Over-raced in the early and middle stages. Restrained from heels near 700m. Saddle shifted forward near 700m placing Apprentice Adin Thompson at a disadvantage for the remainder of the race. SHAKA DIAMOND – A post-race veterinary examination revealed lacerations to both hind legs consistent with being galloped on. ZOFF THE BOSS – Elected shift wider from the heels of WOOLLAHRA near the 700m and raced three wide for the remainder. Race 3: IPSWICHTURFCLUB.COM.AU Class 3 Handicap 1350 metres As Apprentice S. Tomlinson was unable to ride due to illness, Stewards approved Apprentice J. Murphy as the substitute rider for THE ZOFF.KATY'S DAUGHTER – When asked to explain the disappointing performance rider Ben Thompson stated the mare raced flat today. He added that the mare did not show enough speed to lead and dictate the tempo like it’s last start win. A routine swab sample was taken. MUMBLES - Apprentice A. Thompson was questioned regarding settling further back in the field. Apprentice explained that he anticipated settling in a handy position but despite his efforts in the early and middle stages the gelding was unable to improve its position. THE ZOFF – Apprentice J. Murphy advised the gelding did not feel comfortable in its action throughout. A post-race veterinary examination revealed the gelding to be lame in the off foreleg. Trainer E. Singh was advised that he would be required to provide a vet certificate of fitness prior to racing again. Race 4: BEERS, BUBBLES & BRUNCH THIS SUNDAY Maiden Plate 1666 metres BELUSHI – Trainer advised will settle back in the field. After being bumped at the start was ridden accordingly. ESSE – When racing wide in the early stages was allowed to stride forward to obtain the position outside the leader near the 1100m.HOLLYWOOD AL – Carried wider near 500m by VALLEY OF DREAMS which shifted out to improve. AMERICAN BOUND – Bumped at start.ENRIQUE – Slow to begin. Unable to secure clear running rounding the home turn and in the straight until near the 300m. PACKAGE – Trainer advised to be ridden forward if circumstances permit. After being slow to begin the gelding was unable to muster early speed and soon after the start shifted in and clipped the heels VALLEY OF DREAMS. Race 5: CARPET COURT IPSWICH BENCHMARK 65 Handicap 1200 metres PAPER TRADE – Shifted in under pressure over the final 50m. Apprentice A. Thompson was advised to exercise far greater care when shifting ground under pressure. RIDEONABIGJETPLANE – Bumped at start. Raced three wide with cover from the 800m. PHIONAIX – Tightened over final stages. INCHING CLOSER – Raced three wide without cover throughout. BROOKLYN STAR – Over-raced in the early stages, steadied from heels over the final stages. TEMUJIN'S RULE – Began awkwardly. CELTIC TIGER (NZ) – Unable to secure clear running rounding the home turn and in the straight until near the 300m. Race 6: SKY RACING Maiden Handicap 1100 metres APPLECROSS – Raced three wide with cover throughout. BOOM GIRL – When questioned regarding the performance, Rider R. Maloney stated that the mare resented racing between runners although was disappointing in the home straight.ISSAQUAH – Buffeted at start. Held up for clear running rounding the home turn. OOZES CLASS – Bumped at start. Stewards sought an explanation regarding today’s performance, Rider J. Orman explained that he was unable to improve into the race rounding the home turn and when able to alter course in the early part of the straight the mare finished off well. He added that OOZES CLASS will be better suited over a further distance than today’s race. DAFEENAH - Raced three wide with cover throughout. OUR GIRL WANDA – Raced three wide without cover throughout. TOUCH OF BALI – Began awkwardly. A post-race veterinary examination revealed a deep laceration to the off foreleg. Trainer J. Edwards was advised that he must provide a veterinary certificate of fitness prior to racing again Race 7: TAB LONG MAY WE PLAY RATINGS BAND 0 - 62 Handicap 1666 metresAs Apprentice S. Tomlinson was unable to ride due to illness, Stewards approved Apprentice N. Fazackerley as the substitute rider for HELSUN. SUNNY ST CLOUD – Rider dropped whip near 200m. Shifted out around the heels of PUMPS after passing 100m. SPARTAN - Raced in restricted room rounding the home turn. Eased when tightened for room after passing the 100m between MADAM MAHAL which shifted in marginally under pressure and SUNNY ST CLOUD (T Marshall) which shifted out when not sufficiently clear. T. Marshall was advised to exercise far greater care when shifting ground. PRINCELY SUM – Raced in restricted room rounding the home turn. MADAM MAHAL – Shifted in under pressure in the home straight. Race 8: 8 BARN FAMILY RESTAURANT Class 1 Plate 1100 metres VIBRANT CITY - Began Awkwardly. Hung in final 200m. MALEFIC – Over-raced in the middle stages.
