GENERAL
 
Apprentice M. Wishart, Jockey L. Cassidy and Apprentice S. Tomlinson were all absent from todays meeting due to injury. Replacements were made as per the Stewards summary.
 
Jockey J. Bayliss was absent from today’s meeting due to illness. Replacements were made as per the Stewards summary.
 
As Jockey M. Gray was overweight in races one and four he was replaced as per the stewards summary. Jockey Gray was fined $100 under AR190(3). In determining penalty, Stewards were mindful of Jockey Gray’s prior good record.
 
 
Race 1: TAB VENUE MODE Maiden Handicap 2160 metres
 
SERAPHINITE – After being caught wide in the early stages was allowed to stride forward by its rider to obtain a position outside the leader near the 1500m.
 
MOONLIGHT ECLIPSE – Slow to begin.
 
PRINCE HUSSON – Slow to begin. Raced with its head in the air whist being restrained in the early stages. Jockey J. Murphy was fined $500 under AR132(7)(a)(ii) for his use of the whip on more than 5 occasions prior to the 100m.
 
SEBRING LASS – Jockey A. Spinks was suspended for a period of 11 days under AR137(7)(a)(ii) for his use of the whip on more than 5 occasions prior to the 100m. The period of suspension to commence midnight the 13th March 2021 and to conclude midnight the 24th March 2021.
 
 
Race 2: WINE MAKERS DINNER MARCH Maiden Handicap 1680 metres
 
 
CANNY CAT – Held up approaching the home turn.
 
MATILDA GENE – Slow to begin. Raced keenly during the early stages. Laid in under pressure in the home straight.
 
BAHAMUT – Slow to begin. Held up rounding the home turn.
 
NUBE VIAJERA – Began awkwardly. Raced three wide without cover for the majority.
 
DAPHNE FRANCES – Raced three wide without cover during the early and middle stages. On returning to scale Jockey A. Spinks reported that he felt his sustained an injury at a point passing the 800m and as a result elected to retire his mount from the event. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no significant abnormalities. Trainer T. Cotsiopoulos was advised the filly will require a veterinary clearance prior to returning to racing. Ms Cotsiopoulos was further advised the filly will also require an official trial prior to returning to racing.
 
ENJOY THE SHOW – Began awkwardly.
 
Race 3: THE BARN FAMILY RESTAURANT Maiden Plate 1350 metres
 
 
SPIN THAT WHEEL- Declared a late scratching at 9:25pm on Veterinary advice. Trainer E Ensby was advised the will be required to obtain a veterinary clearance for the gelding prior to it next racing.
 
KID MAC – Raced four wide without cover throughout.
 
HENRY REEF – Slow to begin.
 
MASTER RICHARD – Raced four wide with cover for the majority.
 
VETERAN – Trainer T. Whittington advised that it was his intention to have the gelding ridden further forward in today’s event. Ridden accordingly. Raced three wide with cover for the majority. Upon retuning to scale Jockey A. Allen reported that his mount did not feel comfortable in its action over the final 400m. A post race veterinary examination revealed no significant abnormalities.
 
DAUNTING ADVENTURE – Began awkwardly.
 
FRAZZLED – Began awkwardly. Passing the 1200m steadied when awkwardly placed at heels. Laid in under pressure in the home straight. Jockey R. Fradd reported that in his opinion the mare, at this stage of its preparation, would be better suited stepping up in distance and further would be better suited to a larger track then that of todays venue.  
 
JARAWONG – Raced three wide without cover for the majority.
 
EL RANCHOS – Hung out for the majority. Raced three wide with cover for the majority.
 
Race 4: WWW.IEEC.COM.AU Class 1 Handicap 800 metres
 
GENERAL MO – Upon arrival to the barriers underwent a pre-race veterinary examination at the request of Jockey A. Spinks. Subsequently, was deemed unsuitable to race by Veterinary Surgeon at 3:34pm. As the information that GENERAL MO would not be competing in the event was not relayed to Stewards from the barriers, no public notification was broadcast until following the event. Upon the declaration of correct weight Stewards ordered that all monies invested in GENERAL MO be refunded with the following deductions to apply:
 
0 cents in the dollar for the win - #10
2 cents in the dollar for the place of winner - #10
1 cents in the dollar for 2nd placegetter – #6
1 cents in the dollar for 3rd placegetter - #1
 
GANESH TALAI – Near the 50m disappointed for a run and as a consequence was momentarily steadied.
 
BETTER THAN MAGIC – Tightened for room at the start.
 
INTIMATE TYCOON – Tightened for room at the start lost ground.
 
STRALEX – Hung out rounding the home turn.
 
STRYKING PRINCESS – Began awkwardly.
 
ELECTRIC DRAGON – Jockey R. Fradd expressed disappointment with the performance of the filly, which he advised in his opinion compounded quickly over the concluding stages. Trainer M. Wilson advised in light of todays performance he would have his veterinary surgeon examine the horse on returning to the stables and would now consider sending the filly for a spell.
 
Race 5: THOROUGHBREDS SPORTS BAR Class 2 Handicap 1200 metres
 
FRUSTRATED – Momentarily raced in restricted room leaving the 900m.
 
DR WHY NOT – Raced ungenerously in the early stages.
 
AMIRYKAL – Slow to begin and as a consequence settled further back than anticipated.
 
YAWKYAWK – Slow to begin.
 
CLANG AGAIN – Subsequent to the event, trainer N. Hocking reported that the gelding bled from one nostril. Mr Hocking was advised the horse would require a 1000m gallop in the presence of Stewards prior to returning to racing.  
 
 
Race 6: BUBBLY BRUNCH MARCH BENCHMARK 60 Handicap 1350 metres
 
MOUNT PADRAO – After becoming fractious in the barriers underwent a pre-race veterinary examination and subsequently deemed suitable to race.
 
IMITARI – Began awkwardly.
 
MEAZZA – Laid out under pressure in the home straight.
 
PADDLEPOP – Began awkwardly.
 
SINO DEFEAT – Raced wide with cover for the majority.
 
SWING SHIFT – Slow to begin.
 
LEMON DUCHESS – Raced three wide without cover for the majority.
 
SARA MAN – Raced with its head in the air whilst being restrained near the 800m.
 
Race 7: WHITTINGTON @ GRANDVIEW STUD RATINGS BAND 0 - 60 Handicap 1680 metres
 
 
SHADYVALE STAR – Slow to begin. Steadied from heels rounding the home turn.
 
WALKINSHAW – Held up for a considerable distance approaching and rounding the home turn.
 
SEARING SPEED – In the early stages of the home straight was bumped on the hindquarters and as a result shifted out abruptly.
 
CONSULAR - Held up for a considerable distance approaching and rounding the home turn.  
 
CHIEF COMMAND – Improved into heels rounding the home turn and was steadied.
 
JUST WISHING – After being caught wide in the early stages was ridden forward by its rider to obtain a position outside the leader approaching the 900m.
 
RYANO - Steadied when awkwardly placed at heels rounding the home turn.
 
PRINCELY SUM – Slow to begin.
