SUPPLEMENTARY REPORT
 
GENERAL
 
 
Race 1: TAB VENUE MODE Maiden Handicap 800 metres
 
PIZZO – Slow to begin. Wide throughout.
 
KABALEGA – Slow to begin. Hung in under pressure over the concluding stages.
 
HEAT – The start of this event was delayed when the gelding became fractious and cast in the barriers before being examined by the veterinary surgeon and declared at late scratching by order of the stewards acting on veterinary advice at 1:36pm. Stewards ordered that all bets on HEAT be refunded and that the following deductions apply on all successful wagers
 
1st       BASTILE DAY less 25c in the dollar win bets and less 19c in the dollar place bets.
2nd      KABALEGA less 20c in the dollar place bets.
          3rd      GREYT INTENTIONS less 30c in the dollar place bets.
 
Trainer C Munce was advised that a further barrier certificate is required for HEAT in addition to a veterinary certificate prior to the gelding being permitted to start again. Following the event it was noted that M McGillivray sustained minor bruising to the right ankle in this incident.
 
LOVE YOU MORE – Due to being in the adjacent stall to HEAT, which became fractious in the barriers, was removed from the barriers and examined by the veterinary surgeon before being permitted to take its place in the field. Hung out throughout the event and made the home turn wide, taking no competitive part in the event. Post race vet examination revealed no abnormalities. Trainer J Williams was advised that the horse must officially trial prior to racing again.
 
HEDONIE – Wide throughout.
 
Following the running of this event J Morris was stood down due to medical reasons.
 
 
Race 2: BARN FAMILY RESTAURANT QTIS Two-Year-Old Maiden Handicap 800 metres
 
JAY PEAK KITTEN – Began awkwardly. Raced wide throughout.
 
KISS MY MILLO – Slow to begin.
 
SHE’S HEAVENLY – Lost near fore plate in running.
 
MERRON DIVA – Hung out throughout the event and made the home turn wide. Post race vet examination revealed no abnormalities. Trainer T Ranger was advised that the filly must officially trial prior to racing again.
 
ATTA GAL – Trainer Matt Boland was fined the sum of $100 under LR67 for failing to declare M Savva by the required time. Slow to begin.
 
 
Race 3: HAPPY BIRTHDAY JANETTE ADAMS QTIS Three-Year-Old Maiden Handicap 1680 metres
 
GINJA - The start of this race was delayed when the gelding became fractious in the barriers before being examined by the vet and cleared to start. Became awkward when restrained to obtain cover near the 1400m. Over-raced at heels for a short distance passing the 1300m. Raced wide from the 600m.
 
BIG ANDY – Slow to begin. Hung in when rounding the home turn.
 
SAXON ROSE – Slow to begin. Shifted in under pressure over the concluding stages and as a result made heavy contact with HAZ DE BEE.
 
HAZ DE BEE – Shifted out slightly over the concluding stages and heavily bumped with SAXON ROSE.
 
KERCHARMER – Raced wide from the 600m. Hung in rounding the home turn and became unbalanced after bumping DREAM CANDY.
 
DREAM CANDY – Trainer Matt Boland was fined the sum of $100 under LR67 for failing to declare M Savva by the required time. Raced wide throughout.
 
 
 
Race 4:  CASH CONVERTERS IPSWICH Class 5 Handicap 1680 metres
 
SENRIMA TIDE (NZ) – Checked from heels when the pace slackened leaving the 1400m before over-racing until leaving the 600m.
 
OCTAVIAN – As J Morris was ill he was replaced by T Marshall. Rider T Marshall was asked to comment on the performance, he stated that he would have preferred to be positioned closer to the lead however the gelding lacked tactical speed during the early stages. He further stated that as a result of the pace slackening noticeably during the middle stages he was of the view that this did not suit the horse because it was unable to sprint when the pace quickened he was left flat-footed and in his opinion the horse gave him the impression it would benefit with a step up in distgance. Post race vet examination revealed no abnormalities.
 
TILLY'S STAR – Over-raced for a short distance after obtaining cover near the 1300m. Apprentice Atkinson was questioned regarding the tactics adopted, she advised stewards that her instructions had been to settle in a mid-field position as at the horses most recent start, when leading, had been disappointing. She further stated that after begin well and settling more forward the mare was well place when approaching the home turn however proved disappointing when placed under pressure in the home straight. Apprentice Atkinson also noted that the mare raced today without blinkers and she would be recommending that this gear be reapplied.
 
 
 
Race 5: MATT'S 40TH Fillies and Mares Class 1 Handicap 1350 metres
 
WELL WELL WELL – Began awkwardly and lost ground. Shifted wider to improve near the 600m and raced wide from that point onwards.
 
HOT NEWS – Raced wide throughout. Held up for clear running over the concluding stages and went to the line without being fully tested.
 
WINTER RAIN – Held up for clear running when rounding the home turn.
 
MEDUSA'S FURY – Began awkwardly and buffeted between runners.
 
MOSSFAIR – Slow to begin. Held up for clear running when rounding the home turn and during the early part of the home straight.
 
BOOM CHUGGA LUGGA – Lost the near hind plate in running.
 
MISS BULITZ – Lost the off hind plate in running.
 
AWESOME POWER – Over-raced when restrained to obtain cover near the 1000m.
 
LEMON DUCHESS – Slow to begin. Hung out when leaving the 500m and made the home turn wide.
 
 
Race 6: HAPPY 50TH HODDO BENCHMARK 72 Handicap 1350 metres
 
THE HAND – Stewards questioned J Adams regarding the tactics adopted, he indicated that during the early stages he did not believe that he would have sufficient speed to cross the runners to his inside, he therefore elected to steady and attempt to position behind McGillivray, however when the pace then commenced to slacken near the 900m he elected to again shift wider and improve to a position outside the lead as his mount has shown, in previous starts to be unable to improve quickly and is more suited to sustaining a long run. Shifted in near the 700m tightening the running of RUN ON. Jockey J Adams was fined the sum of $500 under AR 132(7)(a)(ii) in that he used his whip on 7 occasions prior to the 100m.
 
RUN ON (NZ) – Tightened for room near the 700m and had to be steadied.
 
 
Race 7: SWIFTS HOCKEY CLUB Colts, Geldings and Entires Class 1 Handicap 1350 metres
 
DANEZEL – Obliged to race in restricted room when rounding the home turn.
 
RUBY'S LAD – Inconvenienced on jumping away and lost ground. Over-raced and inclined to hang in during the early stages. Inclined to hang in over concluding stages.
 
LIVE MUSIC – Significantly slow to begin.
 
SHOTGUN SONNY – Tightened for room on jumping away and significantly checked as a result. Over-raced during the early stages and raced wide throughout.
 
DEBONAIR DES – Began very awkwardly making heavy contact with SHOTGUN SONNY. Raced wide without cover.
 
WHISTLIN' ARROW – Inclined to hang out rounding the home turn.
 
 
Race 8: THOROUGHBREDS SPORTS BAR RATINGS BAND 0 - 68 Handicap 1200 metres
 
BETTER ETHICS - As J Morris was ill he was replaced by J Murphy. Slow to begin.
 
DECISIVE HEART – Began awkwardly and lost ground before over-racing during the early stages.
 
CAPTIVATED – Slow to begin.
 
ESKDALE GIRL – Bumped by MEAZZA, which shifted out near the 300m.
 
MEAZZA – Raced wide without cover. Buffeted between runners whilst weakening and hanging out near the 300m.
