Race 1: RIVER 949FM Maiden Handicap 2150 metres
 
ZABCAN – Bumped on the hindquarters shortly after the start and became unbalanced.

NUBE VIAJERA – Slow to begin.
 
GHILEMEAR – Slow to begin and shortly after crowded between runners, clipped heels and blundered. Lost off fore plate in running. Raced three wide with cover from the 800 metres.
 
ANACHEEVA LAD – Approaching the 1800 meters crowded for room and forced in and tightened the running of SYVEL GOLD and shortly after had to be eased to avoid the heels of CHLOE JADE. A post-race veterinary examination revealed lacerations to the near fore cannon.
 
SAXON ROSE – Slow to begin. Steadied to avoid the heels of DUTCH DELIGHT near the 1800 metres. Held up approaching the home turn and passing the 400 metres improved onto heels and had to be steadied.
 
CHLOE JADE – Began awkwardly and shifted out abruptly hampering runners to the outside.
 
DUTCH DELIGHT (NZ) – Approaching the 1800 metres crowded for room, clipped heels and blundered. Raced three wide with cover from the 800 metres. M Du Plessis, rider of CHLOE JADE, was found guilty of a charge of careless riding under AR31(a) in that near the 1800 meters he allowed his mount to shift in when not fully clear of ANACHEEVA LA which was taken in onto SYVEL GOLD which in turn was taken in and across the running of DUTCH DELIGHT which clipped heels and blundered.  The licence of M Du Plessis to ride in races was suspended for a period of 9 days to commence midnight 25th April up to and including midnight 4th May 2021.
 
FROM THE GONG – Hampered shortly after the start when CHLOE JADE shifted out abruptly.
 
SPIRITUAL – Hampered shortly after the start when CHLOE JADE shifted out abruptly. Steadied to avoid the heels of DUTCH DELIGHT near the 1800 metres. Held up approaching the home turn.
 
SYVEL GOLD – Raced three wide without cover from the 800 metres. Approaching the 200 metres had to be eased when placed in restricted room between DUTCH DELIGHT and GHILEMEAR.
 
WINDUPGIRL – Slow to begin and a short distance later hampered when CHLOE JADE shifted out abruptly. Over-raced in the early and middle stages. Held up approaching the home turn.
 
 
Race 2: TAB VENUE MODE Maiden Handicap 800 metres
 
WINTERSTEIN – Slow to begin then veered out abruptly almost dislodging its rider. Near the 700 metres put in an awkward stride.
 
KABALEGO – Passing the 500 metres steadied off the heels of DUSTY HAZE. Laid in under pressure over the final 250 metres and approaching the winning post had to be eased when awkwardly placed at the heels of MAIL TRAIN MAID.
 
ALCASO – Laid out after passing the 500 metres and became awkwardly placed at the heels of ISLA SURRENDER.
 
BELLICIOUS – Approaching the 400 metres when racing greenly was forced wider on the track by DUSTY HAZE which shifted out avoid heels.
 
ICANFLY was declared a late scratching at 1:29pm on veterinary advice after the filly slipped over in the tie stalls and sustained lacerations to both fore legs. Stewards ordered all bets on ICANFLY be refunded in full and the following deductions to apply:
 
1st WORLD CHARMER – 3 cents win, 5 cents place.
2nd MAIL TRAIN MAID – 4 cents place
3rd BELLICIOUS – 4 cents place
 
DUSTY HAZE – Approaching the 600 metres when racing in restricted room had to be restrained from the heels of ISLA SURRENDER.
 
EL RANCHOS (NZ) – Held up between the 350 metres and the 150 metres before shifting wider on the track, and shortly after again held up for clear running and went to the line without being fully tested by its rider.
 
ISLA SURRENDER – Laid in when placed under pressure passing the 200 metres resulting in its rider having to stop riding and straighten her mount.
 
SHE'S A THRILL – Approaching the 400 metres bumped on the hindquarters by BELLICIOUS and forced wider on the track.
 
SHEEZ MARVELLOUS – Blundered on jumping almost dislodging its rider. Held up rounding the home turn.
 
 
 
Race 3: BARN FAMILY RESTAURANT BENCHMARK 60 Handicap
800 metres
 
MAN IN MOTION – Shifted out under riding over the final 150 metres.
 
VERNAZZA was declared a late scratching at 1:29pm on veterinary advice after the mare sustained abrasions to its offside hip when being transported to the course. Trainer G Taylor was advised a veterinary clearance would be required prior to the horse racing or trialling again.
 
BASTILLE DAY – Passing the 100 meters had to be steadied and shift back to the inside when awkwardly placed at the heels of MAN IN MOTION. N Callow, rider of MAN IN MOTION, was reprimanded.
 
CHICA BONITA – Lost off fore plate in running. Trainer K Baumann reported the mare suffered minor lacerations to the off side hock.
 
MARRIED IN VEGAS – Slow to begin.
 
 
Race 4:  LEST WE FORGET - ANZAC DAY 25 APRIL Maiden Handicap
1609 metres
 
MANHATTAN SPECTOR (NZ) – After passing the 1400 metres and being caught wide, progressed forward to race outside the leader from the 1000 metres. Laid out rounding the home turn.
 
DROP THE PILOT – Raced three wide without cover throughout.
 
HELMET HEAD – Disappointed for a run between IMITARI and WINERIES passing the 400 metres before altering course to the inside to obtain clear running.
 
IMITARI – Passing the 400 meters bumped between MRS SHMICKELBERG and HELMET HEAD which was attempting to shift out to improve.
 
MASTER RICHARD – Overraced in the early and middle stages when leading. Laid out rounding the home turn.
 
ALLUDERE – After passing the 1400 metres steadied from the heels of IMITARI.
 
DAY TO FAVOUR – Raced three wide with cover for majority.
 
LEO THE LION – Bumped on the hindquarters passing the 400 metres and became unbalanced.
 
MT MORT SHARK (NZ) – Raced keenly in the early and middle stages.
 
MRS SHMICKELBERG – Commenced to weaken passing the 600 metres and passing the 400 metres was crowded for room and between LEO THE LION and IMITARI and finished a distant last. Rider A Sewell could offer no explanation for the disappointing performance.
 
 
 
Race 5: IPSWICH CUP TICKETS ON SALE BENCHMARK 62 Handicap
2150 metres
 
WAR'S END – Caught wide in the early stages of the event. Approaching the 1700 metres, when racing keenly, had to be eased to avoid the heels of CLASS OF ROYALTY and shortly after shifted out to a three wide position until passing the 1200 metres when was able to shift in and obtain cover. Weakened approaching the home turn and was retired from the event a short distance later. A post-race veterinary examination revealed an injury to the near hind leg. WAR’S END was subsequently euthanased on humane grounds.
 
ISABELLA'S SPRING – Passing the 500 metres was crowded for room between CALL ME LEGEND which shifted in slightly and CLASSIC PEARL which was shifting out to improve. Ben Thompson, rider of CLASSIC PEARL, was advised to exercise greater care.
 
KINGS ROW – Raced three wide without cover from the 1200 metres.
 
LEICABLE – Slow to begin.
 
CLASSIC PEARL – Commenced to weaken passing the 400 metres.
 
ELECTRIC ELLYSE – Slow to begin.
 
STAR CENTRE – Following the event apprentice M Wishart was stood down by QAS medical staff suffering from dehydration. M Wishart was advised she would require a medical clearance prior to her next race ride.
 
 
 
Race 6: LABOUR DAY RACES 3 MAY Class 2 Handicap 1200 metres
 
The start was slightly delayed when the saddle of LA READY ROSA needed to be readjusted.
 
HEADSPACE – Trainer M Currie was fined $200 for the late declaration of rider on that gelding.
 
SPIRIT HOUSE – Held up approaching the home turn. Apprentice K Wilson-Taylor, rider of SPIRIT HOUSE, was fined $500 under AR132(7)(a)(ii) in that he used the whip on six occasions prior to the 100 metres, one more than permitted.
 
SQUIRREL HUNTER (NZ) – Raced keenly passing the 1200 metres and had to be restrained from the heels of EMOTIVE MOUNTAIN. Passing the 800 metres again had to be restrained from the heels of EMOTIVE MOUNTAIN and shifted out bumping LA READY ROSA.
 
AND OVER AGAIN – Slow to begin. Shifted wider on the track rounding the home turn.
 
LA READY ROSA – Raced three wide without cover throughout. Bumped passing the 800 metres.
 
 
 
Race 7: SIRROMET BENCHMARK 58 Handicap 1350 metres
 
STAY SMART – Began awkwardly and shifted out.
 
MAHSTAR – Bumped on the hindquarters on jumping. Near the 350 metres crowded for room between PARLOUR and NOTONYA NELLY which shifted out. L Dittman, rider of NOTONYA NELLY, was reprimanded under AR131(a) for carelessness.
 
AMORE PRIMUS – Raced four wide throughout without cover for majority of the event.
 
CAMARILLO – Slow to begin. Raced three wide with cover for the majority of the event.
 
THE KNIGHT – On arrival at the barriers the tongue tie on the gelding was re-fitted. Held up rounding the home turn.
 
NOTONYA NELLY – Bumped on jumping and lost ground.
 
BAMBALAM – Rider reported the gelding got its near hind leg up as the start was effected. Raced three wide in the early stages before progressing forward to race outside the leader from the 800 metres. Crowded for room near the 200 metres when weakening. A short distance later the rider desisted from pressuring his mount over the concluding stages as he was of the opinion something may be amiss with BAMBALAM. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no abnormalities.
 
HONEY BABY – Held up rounding the home turn.
 
PARLOUR – As apprentice J Molloy was unable to arrive on course due to transport difficulties, Stewards permitted M Kennedy to ride the mare. Raced three wide without cover for the majority of the event.
 
PYTHIA – Held up rounding the home turn.
 
CELTIC TIGER – Slow to begin.
