Race 1: BARN FAMILY RESTAURANT Maiden Handicap 1100 metres
 
MODESTO – When racing greenly shifted out under pressure in the home straight.
 
GULF COUNTRY – Raced three wide without cover throughout. Hampered near the 200 metres when MODESTO, which was racing greenly, shifted out under pressure.
 
HOSTWIN GENERATION – When asked to comment on the performance rider S Galloway stated the gelding was unable to muster speed in the early stages despite his urgings and in the home straight was disappointing. Stewards noted the explanation.
 
MOZART'S RIVAL – As J Huxtable was delayed arriving on course due to transport difficulties, Stewards permitted J Orman to ride the gelding. Raced keenly in the early stages. Laid out under pressure approaching the finish line.
 
 
Race 2: RIVER 949 FM Maiden Handicap 1100 metres
 
TRY TO BE GOOD – Slow to begin. Shifted in abruptly near the 250 metres when struck with the whip.
 
SERENE AFFAIR – Began awkwardly. Leaving the 900 metres, when racing keenly, crowded for room when TIACLAIR shifted in when not fully clear. S Galloway, rider of TIACLAR, was advised to exercise greater care when crossing. A short distance later had to be steadied when racing in restricted room to the inside of YUPPIE which shifted in momentarily. N Callow, rider of YUPPIE, was advised to exercise greater care.  Rider W Peel stated instructions were to race on the speed, however after beginning awkwardly settled further than anticipated. Stewards noted the explanation.
 
SCENIC RIM – Slow to begin.
 
DUSTOFF – Crowded for room leaving the 900 metres and again leaving the 800 metres when racing tightly to the inside of SERENE AFFAIR which was taken in when crowded for room.  
 
REGAL EYES – Raced three wide without cover for the majority. Held up rounding the home turn.
 
 
Race 3: TAB QTIS Two-Year-Old Maiden Handicap 1100 metres
 
On arrival at the barriers DOOR INTO SUMMER was examined by the veterinary surgeon and found to be lame in the off hind leg and was subsequently withdrawn on veterinary advice at 11:44am. On declaration of correct weight Stewards ordered all bets on DOOR INTO SUMMER to be refunded in full and the following deductions to apply:
 
1st BARISTASISTA – 4c win, 5c place
2nd REAWAKEN – 5c place
3rd DREAM GAME – 3c place
 
Trainer D Chujo was advised DOOR INTO SUMMER would require a veterinary certificate prior to its next race start.
BEE TEE AH – Leaving the 900 metres commenced to over-race when awkwardly placed on the heels of DREAM GAME which shifted in marginally. Continued to race ungenerously until a point leaving the 600 metres. Raced three wide for the majority of the event.
 
DREAM GAME – Lost off hind plate in running. Shifted in near the 100 metres.
 
REAWAKEN – Raced four wide without cover throughout.
 
STREET CAUSE – Slow to begin.
 
GRANDEUR ROSE – Raced three wide for the majority of the event. Laid out rounding the home turn.
 
BARISTASISTA – Held up rounding the home turn. Raced greenly under pressure in the straight before shifting wider near the 100 metres and proving difficult to ride.
 
 
Race 4: CHANNEL SEVEN QTIS Two-Year-Old Maiden Handicap 1100 metres
 
Start was delayed 3 minutes when FORSARA, after being loaded into the barriers, required a refitting of the bridle.
 
DARE TO SHARE – Fractious after being loaded into the barriers, was removed, examined by the veterinary surgeon and cleared to start. Began awkwardly and shifted out.
 
JETFOIL – Slow to begin. Raced keenly in the middle stages. Disappointed for a run approaching the 100 metres between LIKE A KISS and TOP BIRD which laid out.
 
MONT ROYAL – Bumped on jumping. Raced three wide for the majority of the event.
 
REGAL CONQUEROR – Leaving the 900 metres, when racing in restricted room, lost its position when tightened by JACK BE LUCKY which shifted in and away when LIKE A KISS shifted in when racing greenly.
 
FORSARA – After being loaded into the barriers the bridle on the gelding required refitting. Began awkwardly. Raced three wide for the majority of the event.
 
CAPITAL EYES – Fractious after being loaded into the barriers. Approaching the 100 metres, when racing greenly, shifted out, became awkwardly placed at the heels of MISHANI ESPIRIT, which had shifted in at that point, resulting in rider G cartwright becoming very awkward in the saddle and being dislodged. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no abnormalities.
 
LIKE A KISS – Taken wider rounding the home turn when TOP BIRD laid out.
 
MISHANI ESPRIT – Slow to begin. Shifted in momentarily near the 700 metres and crowded CAPITAL EYES.
 
TOP BIRD – Laid out rounding the home turn and continued to do so in the home straight. Trainer S Batten was advised a warning would be placed on the filly’s racing manners.
 
Race 5: CARLTON MID Maiden Handicap 1700 metres
 
SUN MOON SKY – Jumped in at the start.
 
MR REDDINGTON – Jumped out at the start.
 
SUN 'N' SURF – Began awkwardly and shifted out. Laid out under pressure in the home straight.
 
TIMOTHY – Blundered on jumping.
 
BURN THE BOATS – Change of tactics, further forward if circumstances permit. Unable to muster speed in the early stages and from the wide draw settled in a position worse than midfield.
 
CANISTER – Crowded on jumping and lost ground. Held up approaching the home turn.
 
FROM THE GONG – Forced wider near the 800 metres.
 
TELFORD – As had not started for an extended period, underwent a pre-race veterinary examination and was cleared to start.
 
CREDIBLE – Approaching the home turn was steadied and shifted wider when JAY BEE laid out.
 
Race 6: WEDDINGS @IEEC QTIS Three-Years-Old Maiden Handicap 1700 metres
 
 
REMARKABLES was declared a late scratching at 1:25pm after sustaining a laceration to the offside eye. On declaration of correct weight Stewards ordered all bets on REMARKABLES to be refunded in full and the following deductions to apply:
 
1st TAAFFEITE– 7c win, 14c place
2nd GLASHABEE – 8c place
3rd THE LOVE ROCKET – 12c place
 
GLASHABEE – Raced keenly in the early stages.
 
DESERT SUNDOWN – Slow to begin. Raced keenly near the 1300 metres.
 
THE RED DANCER – Slow to begin. Raced three wide for the majority of the event. Rider T Marshall reported after racing wide in the early stages and due to the slow pace at that point, he elected to allow his mount to stride forward and race outside the leader from the 1000 metres. Obliged to steady from the heels of TAAFFEITE near the 300 metres which shifted out when not fully clear. R Stewart, rider of TAAFFEITE, was advised to exercise greater care.
 
TAAFFEITE – Change of tactics, more forward if circumstances permit. Ridden accordingly. When asked to comment on the apparent improved performance trainer M Dunne advised with the step up in distance and the change of tactics to be ridden more positively in the early stages, he was confident of a forward showing today, adding that at the filly’s most recent starts when ridden back in the field TAAFFEITE had been unable to quicken. Mr Dunne further stated it would be his intention to continue to step TAAFFEITE up in distance going forward.  
 
THE LOVE ROCKET – Raced keenly in the early stages.
 
GEOSTORM – Began moderately.
 
 
Race 7:RAY WHITE IPSWICH BM65 Handicap 2190 metres
 
SAME OLD – Held up rounding the home turn and in the early stages of the home straight.
 
ADELAIDE'S DIAMOND – Bumped on jumping.
 
ELOTROLADO – Change of tactics, more forward if circumstances permit. Ridden accordingly.
 
NUBE VIAJERA – Began awkwardly and lost ground. Raced keenly in the early stages of the event.
 
FIORENA – On arrival at the barriers the tongue tie on the mare was refitted. Slow to begin.
 
STARLIGHTER – Slow to begin.
 
HEIRBORN – Bumped on jumping.
 
Race 8: SIRROMET BM60 Handicap 800 metres
 
On arrival at the barriers SERTIN was examined by the veterinary surgeon after being kicked behind the gates by another runner and found to be lame in the near hind leg and was subsequently withdrawn at 2:47am. On declaration of correct weight Stewards ordered all bets on SERTIN to be refunded in full and the following deductions to apply:
 
1st TRIP THE LIGHT – 2c win, 5c place
2nd THE DARLING – 2c place
3rd SOMEBODY’S GIRL – 7c place
 
Trainer G BARBIERATO was advised SERTIN would require a veterinary certificate prior to its next race start.
 
CORAJILLO – On arrival at the barriers the saddle on the mare was adjusted.
 
SOMEBODY'S GIRL – Raced three wide throughout.
 
THE DARLING – Slow to begin.
 
PIANIST – Raced six wide throughout.
 
COPSINTHEDONUTSHOP – Raced five wide throughout. H Phillips, rider of COPSINTHEDONUTSHOP, was fined $400 under AR132(7)(a)(ii) for use of the whip on six occasions prior to the 100 metres, one more than permitted.  
 
PETITE ELLE- Slow to begin.
 
REPRESENTING – Raced wide for majority of the event.
 
RESETTING EDGE – On arrival at the barriers the tongue tie on the gelding was adjusted. Slow to begin.
 
HALLSIDE HANKY PANKY - Slow to begin. Raced wide for majority of the event.
 
 
Race 9: SCHWEPPES Class 2 Handicap 1350 metres
 
OUR ECHO – Raced wide for majority of the event. Obliged to steady from the heels of IAMPAIDFOR which made the home turn awkwardly.
 
MR AZRAY – Slow to begin.
 
IAMPAIDFOR – Trainer T Hurley was fined $100 pursuant to LR67 for the late declaration of rider on that gelding. Raced wide for majority of the event. Taken wider rounding the home turn.
 
WILLY BE LUCKY – Bumped on jumping. Raced wide for majority of the event.
 
THE WARDSMEN – Slow to begin. Rider J Bayliss returned to scale in excess of 1/2kg overweight and was fined $300 under AR211.
 
GRAND CHALLENGE – Rounding the home turn disappointed for a run and had to be steadied from the heels of WILLY BE LUCKY.
 
Race 10:RENEW ITC MEMBERSHIP BM68 Handicap 1200 metres
 
ESKDALE GIRL – Raced three wide for majority of the event.
 
LYRICAL PRINCE – M McGillivray was examined by QAS staff prior to this event and cleared to ride.
 
CELTIC TIGER – Slow to begin.
 
CHAMPAGNE DAISY – Fractious after being loaded into the barriers, was removed, examined by veterinary surgeon and cleared to start. Rider M Hellyer reported the mare was very anxious pre-race and that CHAMPAGNE DAISY, who was first up today, would benefit from today’s run. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no abnormalities and a post-race swab sample was taken. Following the event rider M Hellyer reported he was experiencing some discomfort in the right leg and right arm as a result of his mount being fractious in the barriers.
 
NAKANAI – On arrival at the barriers underwent a veterinary examination and was cleared to start. Slow to begin. Raced three wide for majority of the event.
