GENERAL
 
As the race meeting at Canberra was abandoned today, the race times for Ipswich were amended to

Race 1: SCHWEPPES QTIS Two-Years-Old Class 2 Plate 1200 metres
 
 
DARE TO SHARE – Slow to begin.
 
GOLDEN EIGHTY – Inconvenienced shortly after the start.
 
HABIB – Had difficulty securing running in the early part of the home straight.
 
SACCA – Slow to begin. Held up from the 400m until near the 100m, then disappointed for a run before obliged to alter course to secure clear running passing the 50m. Lost the off fore plate in running.
 
MISHANI DELIGHT – Fractious in barriers prior to the start being effected. Rider S Tomlinson reported that his right foot made heavy contact with the barrier partition and gave him some discomfort throughout the event. Trainer L Ross was advised that a warning be placed against the filly for its barrier manners.
 
BARISTASISTA – Raced three wide without cover throughout.
 
MISHANI TULIP – Raced three wide with cover throughout.
 
PRETTY SMILES - Raced in restricted room shortly after the start and lost ground. Weakened over the concluding stages and finished a distant last. A post-race veterinary examination revealed some minor abrasions to the near hind leg. Trainer S Jokic was advised that the filly would be required to trial to satisfaction of Stewards prior to being permitted to start in a race again.
 
WALTZ – Overraced in the early stages and raced wide for the majority.
 
Following this event jockey S Tomlinson was examined by QAS personnel which revealed he had sustained an injury to his right foot and was subsequently stood down from his remaining engagement. Jockey S Tomlinson was advised that a medical clearance would need to be provided prior to race riding again.
 
 
 
 
 
 
Race 2: IEEC.COM.AU QTIS Three-Years-Old BM65 Handicap 800 metres
 
The start of this race was delayed due to QAS personnel attending to rider S Tomlinson from the previous race and both RUBY EXPRESS and BETTER THAN OUT being fractious in the barriers.
 
PATENTED – Began awkwardly and lost significant ground. Raced wide throughout.
 
MISS BARTY – Improved onto heels passing the 4000m and had to be restrained. Then had difficulty securing clear running in the home straight.
 
SPIRITOMO – Slow to begin. Obliged to race in restricted room rounding the home turn and then had difficulty securing clear running in the home straight. Rider A Mallyon was dislodged returning to the enclosure. Subsequently was examined by QAS personnel and cleared to fulfil his further engagement.
 
THE DARLING – Laid in in the early part of the home straight.
 
 
RUBYEXPRESS – Fractious in barriers prior to the start being effected. Trainer G Cornish was advised that a further barrier certificate for the filly would be required prior to being permitted to start in a race again.
 
BETTER IN THAN OUT – Fractious in barriers prior to the start being effected. Was removed from the barriers, examined by the veterinary surgeon, and cleared to start. Raced wide throughout.
 
 
 
Race 3: CARLTON MID Class 1 Handicap 1666 metres
 
 
DIVULGE – Slow to begin.
 
LOOKS LIKE (NZ) – Slow to begin.
 
SEEKING GUIDANCE – Raced three wide without cover from the 1300m.
 
JELLISHOT – Held up for clear running passing the 400m.
 
GRENADIERS – Passing the 1300m raced in restricted room between CORVO which shifted out slightly and SEEKING GUIDANCE which shifted in. Jockey B Newport rider of SEEKING GUIDANCE was reprimanded for carelessness under AR131(a).
 
 
 
Race 4: RIVER 949 FM Maiden Handicap 1666 metres
 
 
MONACO DELUXE –Slow to begin.
 
DUCHESS BREE – Trainer T Haydon advised that it would be their intention to ride the mare back in the field if circumstances permit. Ridden accordingly.
 
MR REDDINGTON – Began awkwardly.
 
UNDER ORDERS – Tightened for room shortly after the start and had to be checked and lost ground.
 
KINKUNA – Held up rounding the home turn. Disappointed for a run to the inside of the weakening FROM THE GONG near the 250m before shifting wider to secure clear running.
 
TELFORD – Raced three wide without cover throughout.
 
 
 
 
 
 
 
Race 5: BARN RESTAURANT OPEN BM65 Handicap 2150 metres
 
 
HEIRBORN (NZ) – Trainer D Vandyke advised that it would be their intention to ride the gelding forward if circumstances permit. Ridden accordingly. Near the 600m was obliged to steady to avoid the heels of THE HOUSEMAN which was weakening.
 
 
SAME OLD – Near the 500m was tightened for and had to be checked. Laid in under pressure in the home straight.
 
GOT THE LOT – A post-race veterinary examination revealed the gelding to be lame in the off foreleg. Trainer M Nolan’s representative was advised that a veterinary clearance of soundness would need to be provided to Stewards prior to being permitted to start in a trial or race.
 
SHAMANI (NZ) – Raced three wide with cover throughout.
 
POWERS LOOKOUT – Slow to begin. Raced three wide without cover throughout. Near the 500m, had to be checked when crowded for room between SAME OLD to the outside and THE HOUSEMAN to the inside which whilst weakening laid out away from GOT THE LOT which shifted out to improve.
 
THE HOUSEMAN – After racing wide in the early stages was permitted to stride forward to obtain the position outside the lead near the 1200m. Commenced to weaken passing the 600m, caused interference and finished towards the rear of the field. Trainer P Kimmet was advised that the gelding’s nomination would be refused at Metropolitan and Provincial TAB meetings until form improves at country venues.
 
WINDUPGIRL – Slow to begin. Near the 1000m was shifted wider on the track without cover to improve.
 
THE EQUINATOR – Apprentice K Cowan was dislodged on pulling up. Apprentice Cowan was examined by QAS personnel and cleared of any injury.
 
 
 
Race 6: TAB VENUE MODE Class 3 Handicap 1100 metres
 
 
MINTED – Slow to begin. Inconvenienced and forced wider near the 300m.
 
UPRISE – Inconvenienced and forced wider near the 300m.
 
FRENCH OCEAN – Disappointed for a run near the 300m before shifting back to the inside to obtain clear running.
 
POETIC CHOICE – Raced three wide with cover throughout.

STORM HARBOUR – Overraced passing the 1000m when being restrained to find a trailing position. Held up rounding the home turn.
 
KIJITO – Held up for clear running between the 500m and 100m.
 
BRINKMANSHIP – Overraced in the early stages when racing in a forward position.
 
CHEVRONS'N'ROCKERS – Raced three wide with cover throughout.
 
THE BIG EATER – Raced three wide with cover throughout.
 
BIGGIE – Slow to begin.

Race 8: SIRROMET Fillies and Mares BM60 Handicap 1350 metres
 
 
The start was delayed when IRISH ACE became fractious in the barriers and got a hind leg over the back of the gates.  Was removed and underwent a veterinary examination and was subsequently declared a late scratching on veterinary advice at 4.38pm .
 
All monies invested on IRISH ACE were to be refunded in full and the following deductions to apply for successful bets placed prior to 4.38pm.
