QUEENSLANDRACING INTEGRITY COMMISSION STEWARDS REPORT IPSWICH TURF CLUB IPSWICH – FRIDAY 30 JULY 2021 WEATHER – FINE TRACK RATING – GOOD(4)RAIL – +2m 1100 – 300M, - CUTAWAY APPLIES – TRUE REMAINDERPENETROMETER – 5.1 OFFICIALS Chairman of Stewards – L HicksStewards – P Zimmermann, R Hanson, T HudsonClerk of Scales – K DalyJudge – M Lincoln, C BamfordVeterinarian – Dr G JohnstonSwab Attendants – A Challen, G GrayStarter – C Wallace Race 1: 1 IEEC.COM.AU MDN HCP – 2160M SHORTAZ – Injured en route to the course and was subsequently declared a late scratching at 11.18am. Trainer K Kemp was advised a veterinary certificate would be required prior to its next start. EPIC LOVE (NZ) – Slow to begin. CAPTAIN RIDDLE – Laid in under pressure over the concluding stages. Jockey S Bogenhuber was reprimanded under AR132(7)(a)(ii) for using her whip 6 times prior to the 100m, one more than permitted. ROYAL GEORGE – When questioned regarding the tactics adopted in today’s event, apprentice M Castle stated that her instructions were to allow ROYAL GEORGE to settle where comfortable but take up a more forward position if circumstances permit. Apprentice Castle added that after beginning moderately, she pressured the gelding to obtain a more forward position in an attempt to ride to the trainer’s instructions. Trainer L Gersekowski confirmed instructions, which were in contrast to its most recent start, and was subsequently fined $300 pursuant to AR100 for failing to notify Stewards of a tactic change. MAMMA MEDIA – After being slow to begin was ridden aggressively to obtain a position outside the leader near the 1650m. When questioned regarding the performance, jockey M Du Plessis could offer no explanation for the performance, however stated that he had concerns with MAMMA MEDIA’s actions over the concluding stages and therefore elected not to place the filly under further pressure. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no abnormalities. Race 2: ITC MEMBERSHIP NOW OPEN MDN HCP – 1350M TOROWOTO – Shifted out on jumping and bumped with ESPANYOL. BLAZE SEVEN (NZ) – Began awkwardly making contact with the inside barrier partition. Near the 1100m was steadied when awkwardly placed at the heels of TOROWOTO.ESPANYOL – Hampered on jumping when TOROWOTO shifted out. Jockey B Newport reported after being hampered at the start, he elected to restrain his mount to settle in a rearward position closer to the fence. He added that ESPANYOL over-raced throughout the early and middle stages and as a result he was able to get the gelding to fully settle. Held up for clear running approaching the 700m until a point rounding the home turn. Was again disappointed for clear running over the concluding stages. GOLDEN WHITT – When questioned Jockey S Lacy advised stewards that it wasn’t her intentions to race on the speed, however after beginning well from the inside barrier she was able to obtain an uncontested lead and allowed the gelding to settle where comfortable. Stewards noted the explanation. LOUVRE LIL – Raced wide throughout. Race 3: SIRROMET BM60 HCP – 1200M Correct weight was delayed to allow M Cahill, rider of the second placegetter BATTLE THROUGH, to view the available patrol films to ascertain whether there were grounds for a protest. After viewing the available films, he declined to protest and correct weight was declared. BATTLE THROUGH – Near the 600m had to be steadied from the heels of PIVOTAL MOTION. FREYA’S CLOAK – Slow to begin. Held up for clear running rounding the home turn and had some difficulty obtaining clear running in the straight. PIVOTAL MOTION – Hampered on jumping and as a result was slow to begin. Near the 900m had to be steadied when awkwardly placed at the heels of PARLOUR which shifted in. Jockey M Wishart was issued a reprimand under AR131(a) for permitting her mount to shift in when insufficiently clear. Near the 600m improved onto the heels of PARLOUR and was steadied. Laid in under pressure in the home straight. ONE MORE PINOT – Over-raced in the early and middle stages. Held up for clear running from the 400m until the early part of the home straight. LIGHT OF ULURU – Slow to begin. Race 4: CHANNEL SEVEN QTIS 2YO MDN HCP – 1200M DATA PATCH – Began awkwardly. Hung out rounding the home turn and laid in under pressure in the home straight. ROJO BOOM – When questioned regarding the performance, jockey M Du Plessis could offer no tangible explanation other than to express his disappointment in the geldings performance. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no abnormalities. Stable representative M Sharpe undertook to report to Stewards anything that may become apparent, which may have had an effect on the horse’s performance in the days subsequent to the event. ZA HIDDEN DRAGON – When approaching the winning post had to be steadied when VIRGO VISION laid in. BEANS MEANS – Steadied near the 900m when awkwardly placed at the heels of ROSE OF DUPORTH. VIRGO VISION – After being wide in the early stages was permitted to stride forward to obtain a leading position near the 800m. ROSE OF DUPORTH – Bounded on jumping and lost aground. Approaching the 1000m had to be steadied when racing in restricted room to the inside of LA FEMME DE FORTE which shifted in momentarily and a short distance later whilst racing ungenerously improved onto the heels of LA FEMME DE FORTE and had to be checked. CRAIGLEA BANDIT – Slow to begin and over-raced in the middle stages. Disappointed for a run in the early part of the home straight and as a result shifted to the inside to obtain clear running. Laid in under pressure over the concluding stages. Race 5: CARLTON MID QTIS 2YO MDN HCP – 1200M Correct weight was delayed to allow apprentice J Lloyd, rider of the fourth placegetter PRETTY DEVINE, to view the available patrol films to ascertain whether there were grounds for a protest. After viewing the available films, he declined to protest and correct weight was declared. BARONIAL – Approaching the 800m had to be steadied when improved onto the heels of JACK BE LUCKY. Near the 200m when racing greenly, laid in onto PRETTY DEVINE. Trainer K Fogden was advised that a warning would be placed on the gelding’s racing manners. UNCLE BUD – Apprentice N Fazackerley reported that the gelding raced keenly in the early and middle stages and he was unable to settle his mount and as a result was obliged to race three wide throughout. Rounding the home turn had to be steadied when awkwardly placed at the heels of LYNDALL which shifted in. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no abnormalities. MISHANI GAMBLER – Raced wide throughout. Laid in under pressure in the home straight. RED WAVE – Approaching the 900m was steadied when the paced slackened. SERGEANT SILVA – Approaching the 800m had to checked when improving onto heels of MISHANI GAMBLER. Raced greenly in the home straight. YES WE’RE READY – Trainer S Morrisey reported a change of tactics, to be ridden in a more forward position than its previous starts. Ridden accordingly. PRETTY DEVINE – Near the 200m apprentice J Lloyd momentarily stop riding his mount when placed in restricted room to the inside of BARONIAL which laid in under pressure. Approaching the winning post was again placed in restricted by BARONIAL which shifted in and was unable to be fully tested by its rider. Race 6: SCHWEPPES QTIS 3YO MDN PLT – 1350M BOOM BY BY – Began awkwardly. Raced wide throughout. Bumped with CUE TO CONQUER on several occasions over the concluding stages. BRINGTHELOVE – Slow to begin. Over-raced in the early and middle stages. CUE TO CONQUER – Raced three without cover throughout. Near the 100m had to be steadied when placed in restricted room to the outside GENTLE PRINCE which shifted out marginally and BOOM BY BY which laid in marginally. Made contact with BOOM BY BY on a number of occasions over the concluding stages. GENTLE PRINCE – Shifted out on jumping making contact with LEAVE ME ALONG. Improved onto heels at the 1000m and had to be steadied. LEAVE ME ALONG – Hampered on jumping. Improved onto heels at the 1000m and had to be steadied. MAGIC CROWN – Trainer B Brown reported that the gelding had returned from racing with its tongue over the bit. RAINBOW DRIFT – Over-raced in the early and middle stages. CHICAMO – Laid in under pressure in the home straight. ZAYDE – Began awkwardly. Approaching the 1000m had to be steadied when racing in restricted room to the inside BRINGTHELOVE. Race 7: RIVER 949 FM C3 HCP – 1350M ABDICATING – Carried wider rounding the home turn. RABBIT CLAUSE – Jumped awkwardly. Carried wider rounding the home turn. MISHANI DESTROYER – Carried wider rounding the home turn. PERNELL – Bumped on jumping and was slow to begin as a result. Over-raced in the middle stages. Approaching the 100m was accidentally struck over the head when racing in close proximity to OUTBACK STORM (App M Kennedy). EXTREME JEWEL – Began awkwardly. SAYS WHO – Slow to begin. OUTBACK STORM – Over-raced in the early and middle stages. ANIMAL INSTINCT – Raced wide throughout. Lost an off-hind plate in running. Race 8: TAB BM65 HCP – 1670M The start of this race was delayed approximately 2 minutes when KING TOMLOLA underwent a pre-race veterinary examination at the request of its rider and was cleared to start. The race was delayed a further 2 minutes when ANNABETH lunged at the barriers making heavy contact with the barrier partition and as a result underwent a pre-race veterinary examination and was passed suitable to start. IPSO NEM FELEK – En route to the barriers shied, dislodging its rider M Du Plessis who suffered a seemingly harmless fall. BIANCO NUOVO – Approaching the 400m, raced in restricted room and was steadied when IPSO NEM FELEK laid in. Apprentice J Lloyd reported that he had concerns with the geldings’ action after it failed to respond to his riding from the 500m and elected not to place BIANCO NUOVO under any more pressure. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no abnormalities. Trainer S Kendrick was advised that light of today’s poor performance BIANCO NUOVO would be required to trial to the satisfaction of Stewards before racing again. KING TOMLOLA – Shifted out on jumping making contact with HOPEFUL STAR. Raced wide throughout. Apprentice M Savva reported that she had concerns with her mounts action over the concluding stages and elected not to place KING TOMLOLA under any further pressure. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no abnormal findings. Trainer L Gore advised stewards that after today’s disappointing performance KING TOMLOLA would now be retired from racing. Stewards advised Ms Gore that veterinary clearance and an official barrier trial would be required if the gelding was to return to racing. JOCHBERG – Approaching the 100m had difficulty obtaining clear running and shifted out. PRINNY’ SUCCESS – Stood flat footed and lost ground. HOPEFUL STAR – Buffeted between runners on jumping. Raced three wide with cover throughout. MINOR LUCK – Shortly after beginning was bumped heavily with SKYE AND ME, shifted wider on the track and raced wide for the remainder. SKYE AND ME – Began awkwardly and buffeted between runners shortly after. ANNABETH – Jockey M Wishart reported that the mare was challenged for the lead in the early stages and as a result over-raced and in her opinion this had a detrimental affect on the mares finishing efforts. Race 9: BARN FAMILY RESTAURANT C1 HCP – 1350M BRIEF SOJOURN – Raced wide throughout. OUR FRAULEIN - Raced wide for the majority of the event. POSITIVE TENSION – Fractious in the barrier. Slow to begin. PUCKO – Approaching the 1100m commenced to overraced whilst being restrained and bumped heavily with DAYTONA DANICA. READILY REWARDED – Restrained when placed in restricted room near the 1100m to the inside of PUCKO. MODULO – Buffeted between runners on jumping. CHAMPAGNE SPIRIT – Steadied when awkwardly placed at the heels of DAYTONA DANICA which shifted out to improve rounding the home turn. STATEMENT OF FAITH – Began awkwardly and lost ground.
