A post-race veterinary examination revealed lameness in the near foreleg. Trainer B Smith was of the opinion DARKENED DESTINY may have resented the tongue-tie which was a gear change today. Mr Smith was advised DARKENED DESTINY must trial satisfactorily prior to its next race start and would also require a veterinary clearance prior to its next race start. KISS MY MILLO – When asked to comment on the apparent improved performance, Trainer J Hubbard stated the gelding was racing over a suitable distance, had been working well and the stable had expected a forward showing today. Stewards noted the explanation. STRATEGIC SUCCESS – Jumped out at the start bumping with a FAIR SWEAR. Improved onto heels over the concluding stages and shifted out. THE BEAT GOES ON – Crowded on jumping. A FAIR SWEAR –Was reluctant to proceed to the barriers after moving onto the track. Bumped on jumping. LEAGLESE – On arrival at the barriers the bridle and tongue tie on the filly were readjusted. Race 2: #TIACS RACEDAY 27 OCTOBER Colts, Geldings and Entires Class 3 Handicap 1200 metres FOR MY ANNIE – Jumped in at the start. Raced three wide in the early stages. Approaching the 1000 metres put in awkward stride. ALL STARS – Bumped at the start. Laid in under pressure in the home straight. HIGHLAND SON – Slow to begin. Raced keenly in the early stages. Held up for clear running for the majority of the home straight before shifting out to obtain clear running near the 50 metres. SHOTGUN SONNY – Raced keenly in the early stages. Raced three wide for the majority of the event. BROCKY – Crowded for room shortly after the start. DANISH FORTUNE – Near the 1100 metres steadied when racing in restricted room to the inside of ALL STARS which was taken in by MENSA MAESTRO, which in turn shifted in and away from FOR MY ANNIE. Raced keenly in the early stages. MENSA MAESTRO – Began awkwardly. When asked to comment on the performance rider K Wilson-Taylor stated the gelding travelled well in the run however when placed under pressure in the home straight was disappointing. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no abnormalities. Race 3: OKTOBERFEST @THE BARN Fillies and Mares Class 3 Handicap 1200 metres DEJANOVA – Bumped with VISTABELLE near the 200 metres. VISTABELLE (NZ) – Held up for clear running between the 400 metres until a point near the 100 metres. Bumped with DEJAANOVA near the 200 metres. RURAL REBEL – Raced three wide without cover throughout. Race 4: SCHWEPPES Class 1 Plate 800 metres MR NODDY – Jumped in at the start. Raced wide throughout. Laid in under pressure in the home straight. OUR BOY BORRIS – Slow to begin then failed to muster speed in the early stages. Laid in under pressure in the home straight. Steadied when awkwardly placed at heels over the concluding stages whilst laying resulting in its rider being unable to fully test his mount out to the finish line. BEGS BELIEF – Began awkwardly. Shifted in shortly safter the start and bumped DARE TO SHARE. FLEUR DE ROSE – Slow to begin then failed to muster speed in the early stages. YES YUP YAY – Rounding the home turn raced in restricted room between MR NODDY and DARE TO SHARE which shifted out to improve. DARE TO SHARE – Bumped shortly after the start. Race 5: RIVER 949FM Maiden Handicap 1100 metres WRITTLE – Fractious after being loaded into the barriers. Raced wide for the majority of the event. BEARNAS – Jumped in at the start. GAUNTLET – Jumped out at the start. Near the 800 metres put in an awkward stride. Laid in rounding the home turn and in the home straight. AVOCA – Commenced to over raced whilst being restrained near the 800m when the pace steadied. Raced ungenerously throughout. BEAN A WHILE – Crowded and taken out at the start. Held up for clear running for the majority of the home straight. PRINCE SHUVEE – Raced wide in the early stages with cover. ALYSANNE – Improved onto heels near the 50 metres. OCEANA – Slow to begin. Approaching the 800 metres when the pace slackened improved onto the heels of MATALE and had to be steadied. Raced wide in the early stages. Rider reported the filly was inclined to over race throughout the event. OUTASTEP – Checked on jumping between BEAN A WHILE and BEARNAS which jumped in. Raced wide from the 800 metres. PIXIE MAGIC – Near the 800 metres put in an awkward stride and had to be steadied. Race 6: CARLTON MID Class 3 Handicap 2160 metres MOTAMAYIZ (GB) – Bumped at the start when LINCOLN TOWN began awkwardly and shifted out. Near the 600 metres taken wider on the track when HEAD UP HIGH shifted out to improve. HEAD UP HIGH – Jumped out at the start and bumped DÉCOR DEELS. B Nothdurft, rider of HEAD UP HIGH, was fined $400 under AR132(7)(a)(ii) for use of the whip on seven occasions prior to the 100 metres, 2 more than permitted. LINCOLN TOWN (NZ) – Began awkwardly and shifted out at on jumping. FLENSBURG – Held up for clear running between the 400 metres and the entrance to the home straight. DECOR DEELS – Bumped on jumping. CHIEF COMMAND – Slow to begin. Near the 600 metres taken wider on the track when HEAD UP HIGH shifted out to improve. ANIMAL INSTINCT – Rider B El Issa reported he desisted from pressuring the horse in the home straight after he had concerns with its action during the event. A post-race veterinary examination revealed lameness in the off-hind leg. Co-trainer D Lane was advised ANIMAL INSTINCT would require a veterinary clearance prior to its next race start. TYCOON PLAYER – Raced three wide in the early stages before progressing forward to lead the event from the 1300 metres. Race 7: SIRROMET COUNTRY HEIST BENCHMARK 58 Handicap 1350 metres MISS MAKEPEACE, whilst being led, broke away from its handler in the saddling enclosure, slipped over and made heavy contact with a rail. MISS MAKEPEACE was declared a late scratching by order of Stewards on veterinary advice at 4:31pm. On declaration of correct weight Stewards ordered all bets on MISS MAKEPEACE be refunded in full and the following deductions to apply: 1st KAPPY CINO – 3c win, 3c place2nd PROMT REPLY– 6c place3rd PATRICK’S ME MATE – 12c place MISS MAKEPEACE was subsequently sedated before succumbing to its injuries at which time the on-course veterinary surgeon declared the mare deceased. As a result of this delay the starting time for Race 7 was amended to 4:56pm and Race 8 to 5:30pm. KAPPY CINO – Raced three wide without cover for the majority of the event. PATRICK'S ME MATE – From the wide barrier was restrained shortly after the start to a rearward position closer to the rails. NOT LIABLE – Near the 1200 metres had to be steadied when awkwardly placed at he heels of PETITE ELLE. Leaving the 1100 metres improved onto the heels of PETITE ELLE and had to be checked. PROMPT REPLY – Raced three wide with cover for the majority of the event. Laid in under pressure in the home straight. QUEENOFMAINSTREET – Slow to begin. MONTE SANTO – Following the poor performance Co-trainer D Lane advised that MONTE Santo would now be retired from racing. Stewards nonetheless advised should circumstances change, MONTE SANTO must trial satisfactorily before racing again. PETITE ELLE – Leaving the 1100 metres commenced to over race when being restrained. Race 8: WWW.IEEC.COM.AU BENCHMARK 65 Handicap 1350 metres TEST OF WAR – Held up rounding the home turn. FEW TOO MANY – Raced keenly in the early and middle stages of the event. Held up for clear running between the 600 metres and the 400 metres, and then had to be steadied when disappointed for a run near the 200 metres. HARADIFY – Raced three wide for the majority of the event. TREASURE OF GOLD – Raced wide in the early stages before being permitted to stride forward and lead the event from the 700 metres. EXTREME JEWEL – Proved difficult to load. Began awkwardly. Had some difficulty obtaining clear running in the early stages of the home straight. WEARETENFORTYEIGHT – After becoming fractious in the barriers, was removed, underwent a veterinary examination and was cleared to start. Raced three wide for the majority of the event. RUSSIAN ROMEO – Slow to begin. CELTIC TIGER (NZ) – Raced three wide for the majority of the event. MR MAHARAJ – Slow to begin. Near the 150 metres disappointed for a run between CELTIC TIGER which laid in and HARADIFY which shifted out.
