GENERAL
 
Due to current covid restrictions, Stewards permitted the following weight variations:
Race 3: R Wiggins - NORTHERN WOODS – 56.5kg (+0.5kg)
Race 7: B Thornton – LADY MAGNUS – 56kg (+0.5kg)
 
Race 1: #ITCMENTALHEALTHMONTH Colts, Geldings and Entires Maiden Plate 1200 metres
 
BRINGTHELOVE – When asked to comment on the below market performance rider R Wiggins reported the gelding raced flat today and failed to respond to his riding in the home straight. Trainer S Tregea was of the opinion BRINGTHELOVE may not have been suited by the drop back in distance from its last start over 1600 metres, and for this reason the horse raced very one-paced today.
 
HERTZKA – Stood flatfooted at the start and lost ground.
 
NAPOLEON GOLD – Jumped in at the start. Checked near the 900 metres. B El Issa, rider of FAILED TO MENTION, pleaded guilty to a charge of careless riding under AR131(a) in that approaching the 900 metres he permitted his mount to shift in when insufficiently clear of NAPOLEON GOLD which had to be checked. The licence of B El Issa was suspended for a period of 8 days to commence midnight 16th October up to and including midnight 24th October 2021.
 
OFF ROAD – Slow to begin. Raced keenly in the early stages.
 
OUR SPIDER – As had not started in excess of 12 months, underwent a pre-race veterinary examination and was cleared to start. Fractious after being loaded into the barriers. Began awkwardly and lost ground.
 
SUMMER STAR – Slow to begin. Laid out rounding the home turn. Raced greenly when placed under pressure in the home straight.
 
HOSTWIN TORONADO – Raced keenly in the early stages.
 
 
Race 2: #THISISACONVERSATIONSTARTER Fillies and Mares Maiden Plate 1200 metres
 
BEAN A WHILE – Jumped in at the start bumping with MY ADELINE.
 
EARLY CHOICE – Rider reported the horse was inclined to race greenly throughout.
 
LET'S BOOM – Raced three wide throughout without cover.
 
MY ADELINE – On arriving on-course slipped in the tie-up stalls, sustained a minor abrasion to the off foreleg, underwent a pre-race veterinary examination and was cleared to start. Bumped and taken in at the start. Raced three wide in the early stages. A post-race veterinary examination revealed the mare had bled from both nostrils for the first time. Under the provisions of AR79(4) representative for Trainer G Heinrich was advised MY ADELINE would be stood down from racing for a period of 3 months and must gallop 1000 metres in the presence of a Steward prior to its next race start.  
 
NANNA KNUCKEY – Bumped heavily at the start. Near the 900 metres steadied to avoid heels.
 
TINIPIT – Jumped out at the start and made heavy contact with NANNA KNUCKEY.
 
SECRET CASH – Fractious after being loaded into the barriers. Checked at the start and lost ground when MY ADELINE was taken in by BEAN A WHILE which jumped inwards. Near the 900 metres, when racing keenly, was momentarily steadied to avoid the heels of MY ADELINE which shifted in.  Near the 750 metres steadied to avoid heels. Raced three wide with cover for the majority of the event.
 
The track rating was upgraded to Good 3 following Race 2.
 
 
Race 3: TIACS RACEDAY 27 OCTOBER Class 2 Handicap 1700 metres
 
MONEY SHOT – When asked to comment on the below market performance M Morrison, stable representative for Trainer M Costa, reported the horse had worked well during the week and the stable was confident of a forward showing today. Rider J Guthmann-Chester reported MONEY SHOT travelled well in the run, however when placed under pressure from the 600 metres failed to respond to his riding and was disappointing. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no abnormalities. A post-race swab sample was taken from MONEY SHOT. Mr Morrison advised the stable would report back in the coming days any condition which may come to light to explain the disappointing performance.
 
ENRIQUE – Slow to begin.
 
SAYS WHO – After working strongly in the preliminary, underwent a veterinary examination on arrival at the barriers and was cleared to start. Slow to begin.
 
 
Race 4: BASE METAL FABRICATION Class 1 Handicap 800 metres
 
SHADOW COLOUR – Laid out under pressure in the home straight.
 
NEVER PAID – The saddle shifted forward on the gelding shortly after the start placing its rider at a disadvantage throughout the event.
 
A GOOD CHANCE – Began awkwardly. Raced wide throughout.
 
HIDDEN SPRING – When asked to comment on the apparent improved performance, Trainer B Smith explained the horse had disappointed at its most recent start prior to being spelled, however had pleased in its work since returning from a spell and from the good draw was confident of a forward showing today.
 
DELUSIONAL – On arrival at the barriers the off-hind plate was refitted. A Veterinary inspection cleared DELUSIONAL suitable to race. Laid in under pressure in the home straight. Raced wide throughout.
 
ELECTRIC DRAGON – Began awkwardly. Raced wide throughout.
 
METRO TRAMP – Slow to begin.
 
VOX POPULI – Began awkwardly. Raced wide throughout
 
BEATING DRUM – Began awkwardly.
 
SILVERBROOK LAD – Slow to begin.
 
 
Race 5: FERTPRO MANUFACTURING Class 5 Handicap 1200 metres
 
KRAKATOA ERUPTION – Over-raced in the early stages.
 
LEADERSHIP SPILL – Raced wide in the early and middle stages of the event.
 
STOKED – Dipped on jumping. Held up for clear running between the 400 metres and the early stages of the home straight. Stable reported the horse suffered lacerations to the near fore heel during the running of the event.
 
GOGOL – At the 800 metres raced in restricted room and had to be eased when LEADERSHIP SPILL shifted in when not fully clear. A Mallyon, rider of LEADERSHIP SPILL, was advised to exercise greater care in similar circumstances.
 
DRAGON MISS – Rider R Jamieson reported some discomfort in her right shoulder following the event.
 
 
Race 6: iCARE SUPPORT SERVICES RATINGS BAND 0 - 60 Handicap 1100 metres
 
NO BETTER AFFAIRE – Hung out rounding the home turn.
 
BASTILLE DAY – Began awkwardly. Put in an awkward stride near the 200 metres.
 
CHERRY SODA – Hampered on jumping.
 
MOZART'S RIVAL – Forced wider on the track rounding the home turn when NO BETTER AFFAIRE hung out.
 
DANCES WITH TIME – Fractious after being loaded into the barriers. Raced keenly in the early and middle stages.
 
SIDEWALK – Raced three wide without cover throughout.
 
 
 
Race 7: IPSWICH JETS RATINGS BAND 0 - 65 Handicap 1200 metres
 
GO DEEP – From the wide barrier was restrained shortly after the start to a rearward position closer to the rail. Had difficulty securing clear running in the early stages of the home straight.
 
ALL STARS – Jumped out at the start and bumped with TO LOVE SOMEBODY.
 
JAYDEE INDY – Stewards permitted R Wiggins to ride the gelding after B El Issa complained of shoulder soreness following his ride in Race 1. B El Issa was advised he must provide a medical clearance prior to resuming race riding. Steadied from heels near the 800 metres. Laid in under pressure over the concluding stages.
 
ZUMIKON – Raced wide for the majority of the event.
 
TO LOVE SOMEBODY – Jumped out at the start and bumped with ALL STARS.
 
DEFACTOR – Rider J Orman reported the horse never travelled throughout the event and was disappointing. Mr M Morrison, stable representative for Trainer M Costa, advised the horse had worked well during the week and the stable was confident of a forward showing today. A post-race veterinary examination revealed a slower than normal recovery rate and a laceration to the off-side cheek. A post-race swab sample was taken from DEFACTOR. Mr Morrison advised the stable would report back in the coming days any condition which may come to light to explain the disappointing performance.
 
LADY MAGNUS – Laid in and brushed the running rail near the 900 metres.
 
PURE INDULGENCE – Raced in restricted room over the concluding stages of the event.
 
 
Race 8: RQ SUPPORTS RACING INDUSTRY SAFETY Class 1 Handicap 1350 metres
 
TOLKOWSKY – Held up for clear running from the 600 metres until entering the home straight.
 
GINJA – Following the track up-grade to a Good 3, Stewards acceded to a request from Co-trainer S O’Dea to scratch the gelding at 3:10pm.
 
TRIPTONIC – Raced keenly in the middle stages. Held up for clear running from the 600 metres until entering the home straight.
 
LOVEISABATTLEFIELD – Bumped near the 1100 metres. Raced keenly in the middle stages. Laid in under pressure in the home straight.
 
MADAME MO – Raced in restricted room to the inside of LOVEISABATTLEFIELD near the 1200 metres. When over-racing near the 1100 meters shifted out and bumped LOVEISABATTLEFIELD.
 
WILD IRISH – Change of tactics, from the draw further back with cover if circumstances permit. Ridden accordingly. Raced keenly in the middle stages.
 
LOCAL GOSSIP –Slow to begin.
 
GALA RAIN – After being caught wide in the early stages progressed forward to lead the event from the 1000 metres.
