Wallace GENERALDue to current Covid restrictions, Stewards permitted the following weight variations:Race 1 – MISHANI GAMBLER – J Morris - +0.5kgRace 7 – HAYATE – A Allen - +0.5kg Race 1: #THISISACONVERSATIONSTARTER QTIS Three-Year-Old Maiden Handicap 1350 metres The start was delayed approximately 2 mins when LESCOT became fractious and broke through the gates just prior to the start, travelling a short distance and as a result the horse underwent a pre-race veterinary examination and was passed suitable to race. ASHGROVE – Steadied from heels near the 400m. LESCOT – Raced three wide without cover throughout. IMADGIC – Laid in under pressure in the home straight. JIMMY PLOD – Began awkwardly. MA MA'S ROSE – Tightened between runners on jumping and lost ground. GRACIE BLUE – Approaching the 800m shifted wider to improve and raced wide for the remainder. PRICKLY POPPY (NZ) – Over-raced in the early stages. MISHANI GAMBLER – Stood flat footed and lost ground. GOLDEN ATHENA – Raced wide in the early stages. TILIBET – Tightened between runners on jumping. Over-raced in the early and middle stages. Laid out under pressure in the home straight. Race 2: FERTPRO Maiden Handicap 1200 metres MOUNT FUJI – Laid in under pressure in the home straight. Rider A Fancourt lost her whip near the 100m. COLLECTION POINT – Began awkwardly. BEANHUGGED - Trainer D Hansen was fined $200 for the late declaration of R Fradd as the rider of the gelding. Began awkwardly. PREDICTIVE STATE - Due to a misunderstanding, M Cahill was initially declared as the rider of the gelding. Subsequently J Woodhouse was replaced as the geldings rider. Began awkwardly. Raced greenly throughout. NANNA KNUCKEY – Began awkwardly. DA PARTY GAL – Laid out rounding the home turn. OFF ROAD – Over-raced in the early. Raced three wide throughout. Race 3: SIRROMET Class 5 Handicap 1200 metres KALIK – Held up for clear running approaching and rounding the home turn. HIDDEN EYES – Shortly after the start was awkwardly placed at heels and steadied. Entering the straight was bumped by THERE YOU ARE which shifted out to improve. THERE YOU ARE – Entering the straight when shifting out to improve and made contact with HIDDEN EYES CABEIRIAN – Began awkwardly. BLUE ODYSSEY - Began awkwardly. Entering the home straight, whilst weakening was placed in restricted and was steadied. Race 4: ICARE SUPPORT SERVICES Class 3 Handicap 1350 metres MR WONG – Slow to begin. Steadied when awkwardly placed at heels over the concluding stages. THE RITZ – Raced greenly in the straight. MOCAMBO – Leaving the 800m shifted wider to improve and raced wide for the remainder. BLAZING MAC – Over-raced in the early and middle stages. SHOOTING ROSES (NZ) – Raced keenly in the middle stages and as a result shifted wider near the 800m and raced wide for the remainder. Race 5: IPSWICH JETS Class 1 Handicap 1666 metres VOLUNTEER – Performed below market expectations. Rider J Orman reported the gelding travelled well however when asked to quicken near the 500m, failed to respond to his riding and proved disappointing. Stable representative could over no explanation to the disappointing performance and undertook to report to Stewards anything that may become apparent which may have had an effect on the horse’s performance in the days subsequent to the event. A post-race veterinary examination identified poor post-race recovery and mild heat stress. After the race en-route back to the enclosure VOLUNTEER shied and as a result jockey J Orman was dislodged and suffered a harmless fall. WHEELS (NZ) – Trainer D Vandyke notified Stewards of a change of tactics. The mare will be ridden further back than its previous start. Ridden accordingly. SHAKTI – Over-raced in the early and middle stages. Raced wide throughout. BOLD DELAGO – Slow to begin. Rider A Fancourt reported that the gelding laid in throughout. Race 6: BASE METAL FABRICATION BENCHMARK 65 Handicap 1100 metres BELLE'S PLUCK – App W Peel reported the geldings tongue tie was displaced during the event. MOSCINI – Blundered on jumping. Raced three wide throughout. Laid in under pressure in the home straight. GO DEEP – Slow to begin and as a result settle further back than anticipated. Over-raced in the early and middle stages. BLUEANT – Began awkwardly. HOROWITZ – Laid in under pressure in the home straight. CHECKERS (NZ) - Laid in under pressure in the home straight. Race 7: ITC MENTAL HEALTH MONTH Class 2 Handicap 2150 metres KHAALIS (IRE) – Near the 700m shifted wider to improve. Laid out rounding the home turn. FLUOROBUS – Raced wide in the early stages. OSTERMEIER – Slow to begin. HAYATE – Raced three wide in the early stage and was permitted to stride forward and take up a position outside the leader near the 1200m.
