I DREAM OF GREEN – Steward inquired into an incident near the 100 metres when SUNRISE DANCER was severely checked when racing between VOULAIT to the inside and I DREAM OF GREEN to the outside. It was established that after shifting out marginally when weakening near the 180 metres and brushing MAYA BAY, I DREAM OF GREEN was corrected and shifted back in a short distance later near the 100 metres, and at the same time VOULAIT laid out marginally. As a result SUNRISE DANCER, which was attempting to improve into a narrow run to the inside I DREAM OF GREEN, had to be severely checked. In determining the matter Stewards were not comfortably satisfied that SUNRISE DANCER had fully established a run between VOULAIT and I DREAM OF GREEN at that point of the race.

POLE VOLTER - When asked to comment on tactics adopted rounding the home turn and, in the home straight, rider J Cornish explained POLE VAULTER was steadily making ground at that point of the race and near the 100 metres was disappointed for a run between SWAHILI MAN and ARRIVERDERCI ROMA and as a result was held up for clear running in the run to the finish. Apprentice Cornish added POLE VAULTER would appreciate a step up in distance going forward.

WHILE WE CAN – Rider reported the gelding felt awkward in its action on pulling up. A post-race veterinary examination revealed lameness in the off foreleg. Trainer C Jokic was advised the gelding would require a veterinary clearance prior to its next race start. Shifted the off fore plate in running.

Handicap 1350 metres

SINO DEFEAT – When asked to comment on the performance rider J Bayliss explained the gelding raced dour throughout and in his view is looking for races over a longer distance than that of today.
