QUEENSLANDRACING INTEGRITY COMMISSION STEWARDS REPORT IPSWICH TURF CLUB – FRIDAY 3 DECEMBER 2021 WEATHER – Fine TRACK RATING – Heavy 9/Heavy 8 following Race 1/soft 7 following race 5RAIL – 3.5mPENETROMETER – 5.8 OFFICIALS Chairman of Stewards – P ZimmermannStewards – R Hitchener, M King, P Kennedy, G Goold.Clerk of Scales – C FedrickJudge – C. LincolnVeterinarian – Dr G Cavanaugh Swab Attendants – P Kennedy, R BurchmannStarter – C Wallace GENERAL As Jockey J Guthmann-Chester was not riding at the meeting due to personal reasons, he was replaced as per the Stewards Summary. Race 1: VALE MATT BOWDEN Maiden Plate 1100 metres THE POWER OF ONE –Connections advised that they will be instructing Apprentice M Castle to use minimal whip on the horse. Raced 3 wide without cover throughout. Near the 900m, shifted in and away from JUST GIGI which shifted in when not completely clear. Apprentice Peel the rider of JUST GIGI was advised to exercise more care in similar circumstances. Laid in under pressure in the home straight. KEFA– Raced 3 wide with cover throughout. MISS CLICQUOT– Began awkwardly. ISLAND MAGIC– Laid out for the majority of the event. Near the 900m, was steadied when monetarily placed in restricted room. LOVE DEELS– Steadied approaching the 1000m when momentarily placed in restricted room. LISTEN LISTEN– Began awkwardly. Raced keenly during the middle stages. RAINBOW DRIFT– Slow to muster early speed. Race 2: FOLLOW @IPSWICHTURFCLUB Maiden Plate 1100 metres Following the running of race 1 the track was upgraded to a Heavy 8. CARTWRIGHT– Declared a late scratching by order of the Stewards acting on Veterinary advice at 11:20am, after being injured on the float whilst being transported to the track. CANNY CAT – Raced 3 wide without cover until improving to a position outside the leader near the 600m. Laid in under pressure in the home straight. KUROSAWA– Laid out rounding the home turn. DUNDAS – Laid out rounding the home turn. CELTIC PRINCESS– Began awkwardly making contact with another runner. Laid in under pressure in the home straight. GALLERY MASTER– Bumped on jumping. Raced ungenerously whilst being restrained in the early and middle stages. Jockey C Whiteley reported the gelding had a tendency to laid out during the event and was reluctant to stretch out during the middle stages. Jockey Whitley added that in his opinion the gelding didn’t not appreciate the heavy track conditions. A post-race veterinary examination revealed the gelding to be mild soreness across the hindquarters. EASY JOY –At the request of the trainer was examined by the Veterinary surgeon upon arrival at the course. Subsequently passed suitable to race. App I Rabjones reported that the mare may have gotten its tongue over the bit during the event and recommended to connections to apply a tongue tie to the horse’s gear for its next start. SEALBHACH- Tightened for room at the start and then failed to muster early speed before tailing off in the event. Jockey Ainsworth reported that the gelding never felt comfortable at any stage during the event and was reluctant to stretch out when placed under pressure. A post-race Veterinary examination failed to reveal any abnormalities. Trainer B Robinson was advised a warning would be issued against the gelding for being uncompetitive in today’s event. Race 3: WILPAK MEATS CHRISTMAS PARTY Class 4 Handicap 1680 metres BAHAMUT– Slow to begin. BLAZING MAC– Raced keenly whilst being restrained in the early and middle stages. When questioned in relation to the performance of the mare, Jockey R Fradd advised that the mare travelled strongly during the early and middle stages, however when asked to quicken, raced one paced and failed to run on as he had anticipated. BUMRAH (NZ)– Steadied when awkwardly placed at heels near the 200m. PURE DEAL– Slow to begin. IN AGREEMENT –Laid out under pressure in the home straight. Race 4: Q ROOFING PTY LTD Maiden Handicap 1680 metres NASSAU COUNTY– After becoming fractious in the barriers, was removed, and examined by the Veterinary Surgeon and subsequently passed fit to start. Raced keenly in the early stages. ARCTIC DASHER- Raced keenly in the early stages. Raced greenly when placed under pressure in the home straight. Cast its near fore plate in running. ROWLETT– Steadied from heels near the 1300m when the pace steadied. SAXON ROSE– Slow to begin. Steadied to avoid heels near the 1300m. BURN THE BOATS- Raced ungenerously whilst being restrained in the early stages. Raced 3 wide with cover for the majority. SARAVENGER- Raced 3 wide without cover throughout. Following the running of this event App. W Peel felt unwell. After being assessed by the Qld Ambulance Service officials, App. Peel was cleared to complete her remaining engagements. Race 5: RO'S FESTIVE MAGIC Fillies & Mares BENCHMARK 58Handicap 1350 metres SKYE AND ME– Co Trainer M C Geran was advised a $100 fine would be imposed for the late rider notification. Slow to begin. HALLO POPPET– As the mare had not started in a period exceeding 12months, it underwent a pre race Veterinary examination and was passed suitable to race. WILLINGA PANACHE– Began awkwardly. ABB ROY-Steadied when awkwardly placed between runners near the 800m. GEM OF THE LOCHS– Tightened for room at the start. Raced 3 wide without cover for the majority. Race 6: OXLEY FUTSAL CENTRE QTIS Three-Year-Old Maiden Plate 1350 metres Following the running of race 5 the track was upgraded to a Soft 7. KIPLING'S JOURNEY– Co Trainer W Hulbert was advised that a $100 fine would be imposed for the late rider notification. Cast its near fore plate during the preliminary which was refitted on arrival at the barriers. As a consequence, the starting time of this event was delayed slightly. Began awkwardly. BUIN ROAD- Over raced during the early stages. Raced 3 wide with cover for the majority. HILL BILLY FLYER– Raced 3 wide without cover throughout. LONDON BELL (NZ)– Steadied shortly after the start and lost ground. Raced keenly and was steadied for heels for a considerable distance passing the 800m. Held up and unable to improve approaching the home turn. Shifted out to obtain clear running in the early stages of the home straight before again becoming held up near the 250m. TAREX (NZ)– Put in an awkward stride rounding the home turn. BOLD STORM– Raced ungenerously for a considerable distance in the early stages whilst being restrained. BROOKLYN MAM- Bumped shortly after the start. PEARLS 'N' PIMMS- Raced wide in the early stages before being ridden forward by its rider to obtain a position outside the leader near the 900m. GREY ZONE– Slow to begin. FLYING JUSTICE– Raced wide from the 800m. Race 7: TAB VENUE MODE Colts, Geldings & Entires BENCHMARK 58Handicap 1350 metres MIGHTY MOOSE– Began awkwardly. MILITARY KINGS – Brushed the running rail near the 900m. EAST ESPLANADE- Raced 3 wide without cover throughout. Forced wider by another runner rounding the home turn. Jockey Spinks was fined $400 for using his whip on more than 5 occasions prior to the 100m. MONT MONT– Steadied shortly after the start. Jockey V Venkaya was reminded of his obligations in relation to his use of the whip above shoulder height. ZOUDICA(NZ)– Trainer H Page advised it was the intention to ride the gelding with cover if circumstances permit. Jumped with its head in the air and lost ground at the start. HERECUM DA DRUMS – Slow into stride. WHISTLIN' ARROW– Made the home turn awkwardly and shifted wider. SILVERBROOK LAD– Forced 3 wide by another runner near the 850m. APACHE BLUE- Cast its off fore plate in running Race 8: GREAT NORTHERN Class 3 Handicap 1200 metres STORMY ROCK– Bumped on jumping and was then tightened for room shortly after the start and lost ground. Hung out rounding the home turn. Cast its near fore plate in running. DUKE OF BUCKINGHAM- Bumped on jumping and was then tightened for room shortly after the start and lost ground. Stewards questioned Jockey T Wolfgram in relation to the tactics adopted. Jockey Wolfgram advised that after being tightened for room at the start he was forced to settle in a rearward position. Jockey Wolfgram advised that from the 600m he had hoped to shift to the inside into a trailing position behind STORMY ROCK which he believed was one of the chances in the event to improve into the race, however was prevented from doing so when BDAISY commenced to yield ground forward of him. Mr Wolfgram went onto state that after being prevented from obtaining this position he elected to ride for luck approaching the home turn rather than ease his mount to the outside of the heels of MARCADA to come wider and as a consequence he was held up for a short distance before obtaining clear running. Stewards noted the explanation. EXPERT EYE – Improved onto heels over the concluding stages and was forced to shift out. B'DAISY– Over raced in the early and middle stages. AND OVER AGAIN – Slow into stride. MARCADA – Raced 3 wide without cover throughout. Hung out rounding the home turn. Race 9: SIRROMET BENCHMARK 80 Handicap 1200 metres MURLESS (NZ)- Raced 3 wide without cover for the majority. Momentarily steadied to avoid heels rounding the home turn. PALAISIPAN– Steadied to avoid heels near the 900m. RAGING POLE- Tightened for room at the start and lost ground. BAD BARISTA– Tightened for room and lost ground near the 900m when LET’S PARTY MARTY (B Stewart) shifted in when not completely clear. Jockey B Stewart was reprimanded as a result of this incident.
