GENERAL
 
Due to S Fawke failing to fulfil his engagements at this meeting he was subsequently replaced as per the stewards summary.
 
Race 1: FOLLOW SOCIALS @IPSWICHTURFCLUB Maiden Handicap 1350 metres
 
ROMAN HEIR – R Fradd reported that over the later stages of the event his mount became awkward in its action and this had an effect on the manner in which he rode the gelding over the concluding stages. Post-race vet examination revealed no abnormalities.
 
MAPLE DOOR – Slow to begin. Held up when rounding the home turn.
 
CARNEROS – Slow to begin.
 
TUCKER MCGOO – Tightened for room whilst weakening near the 200m and had to be steadied. S Collett reported that she had concerns with her mounts action over the concluding stages whilst weakening. Post-race vet examination revealed a laceration to the off fore heel.
 
DESHORENTE – Over-raced during the early stages.
 
IXELLES – Slow to begin. Post-race vet examination of the filly which finished a distant last revealed no abnormalities. Trainer K Schweida was advised that the horse must officially trial prior to racing again.
 
MAGIC BOOM – Slow to begin.
 
Race 2: SIRROMET Maiden Handicap 1100 metres
 
BANDIT – Slow to begin. Over-raced during the middle stages.
 
LOGOMANIA – Restrained near the 800m after being placed in restricted room.
 
COUNTRY SHOWGIRL – Began awkwardly.
 
VONZITHER – Raced wide throughout.
 
YOURALLTHAT – Inconvenienced near the 600m when OUR ROCKETMAN shifted in.
 
DUNDAS – Checked near the 100m, then held up for clear running and went to the line without being tested. T Marshall, the rider of SPILL THE SECRET, pleaded guilty to a charge under AR131(a) in the he allowed his mount to shift in near the 100m when not sufficiently clear of DUNDAS causing that horse to be checked. Jockey Taylors license to ride in races was suspended for a period of 9 days to commence midnight 1/1/22 and to conclude midnight 10/1/22.
 
MISS FASSIFERN – Steadied near the 800m after being placed in restricted room. Raced wide throughout. Post-race vet examination revealed the gelding to be sore in both fore legs. Trainer B Hill was advised that a vet certificate would be required prior to racing again.
 
Race 3: SCHWEPPES Colts, Geldings and Entires Class 2 Handicap 1200 metres
 
MISHANI EPIC – Began awkwardly and lost significant ground. Trainer L Ross was advised that a further barrier certificate is required prior the gelding starting again.
 
SUPER GORGEOUS – Laid in under pressure over the concluding stages.
 
ARCHERY BUTTS – Shifted out under pressure in the home straight.
 
BIEN CUIT – Began awkwardly and lost ground.
 
LIVE MUSIC – Began awkwardly and lost ground. Post-race vet examination revealed no abnormalities. Trainer N Hocking was advised that LIVE MUSIC would not be permitted to start at a metropolitan race meeting until its form has improved.
 
Race 4: GREAT NORTHERN Class 4 Handicap 1710 metres
 
SAVVY OAK (NZ) – Wide throughout.
 
SAYL (GB) – Began awkwardly.
 
HELMET HEAD – Rider J Byrne reported that his mount became awkward in its action after passing the 400m and as a result he did not test the horse over the concluding stages. Post-race vet examination revealed the horse be step short in front. J Byne returned to scale in excess of 1/2kg overweight as this was jockey Bryne’s first offence for a significant period stewards issued a reprimand under AR211(1)
 
Race 5: TAB VENUE MODE Class 1 Plate 1710 metres
 
FRANKIE BLUE EYES (NZ) – Slow to begin.
 
MANDEVILLE ROCKER (NZ) – Raced greenly during the early stages when inclined to over-race.
 
NAVILLUS EXCEL – Raced wide throughout.
 
PATH AHEAD – Tightened for room near the 1000m and had to be steadied. C Small, the rider of CONSTANT CAUSE, was reprimanded for this incident. Inconvenienced near the 200m and obliged to shift back to the inside.
 
CONSTANT CAUSE – Began awkwardly. Over-raced during the early stages before being permitted to improve forward to assume the lead after passing the 1000m. Laid out under pressure in the home straight.
 
BELLA BEE (NZ) – Tightened for room at the start and lost ground.
 
GIVEITALLALI – Inconvenienced near the 100m and taken wider.
 
THE LOVE ROCKET – Tightened for room when rounding the home turn and had to be steadied.
 
Race 6: RIVER 94.9 FM Fillies and Mares Class 2 Handicap 1200 metres
 
BELLISSIMI AMICI – Tightened for room when rounding the home turn.
 
SAFEEYA – Raced wide from the 700m.
 
CROWN WAR – Raced wide throughout.
 
ROYALIST – Steadied when tightened for room near the 800m.
 
Race 7: FUNCTIONS @ IPSWICH EVENTS & ENTERTAINMENT CENTRE BENCHMARK 70 Handica 1350 metres
 
JINX 'N' DRINX – Slow to begin.
 
ARTERO – Slow to begin. Held up for clear running from the 450m onwards.
 
CHEVYCHASER – Slow to begin. Over-raced during the early stages. Hung out rounding the home turn.
 
AND OVER AGAIN – Began awkwardly and lost ground.
 
Race 8: AN ARVO TRACKSIDE 29 JAN BENCHMARK 75 Handicap 1100 metres
 
STYLISH SAGA – Held up for a short distance rounding the home turn. Lost the near fore plate in running
 
DIESEL 'N' DUST – Forced wider for a short distance when passing the 700m and had to be steadied.
 
MOUNTBATTEN – Steadied from heels near the 100m.
 
SPINNING SPIRIT – Slow to begin. Held up for clear running when entering the home straight.
 
LIZA WITH A ZEE – Steadied from heels and obliged to shift out when tightened for room near the 700m when racing to the inside of KING OF THE DESERT, which was taken in by WUDANG BLADE.
