OUR HOT FRIEND – Shifted out at the 1000m and raced three wide for the remainder. Stewards questioned the tactics adopted by App. M. Castle over the final 1000m. Of concern to Stewards was her decision to leave a favourable trailing position and move her horse to a three wide position and remain in this position for the remainder of the event. Ms Castle advised Stewards that at a point leaving the 1000m she felt the tempo of the race decreased, and she improved on the heels of PERFECT ENCOUNTER, and then elected to move to a three wide position to allow her mount to continue to build its momentum, as opposed to steadying and losing ground. Ms Castle further advised Stewards that she felt OUR HOT FRIEND raced comfortably in this position for the remainder of the event. However, upon reviewing the replays with Stewards, she agreed she may have erred from shifting from a favourable position which left her three wide without cover for the remainder. After consideration, Stewards advised Ms Castle that she had erred on leaving this position, however, given her relative inexperience Stewards took the matter no further other than to advise her to endeavour to ride her mounts within their capabilities.
