SUPPLEMENTARY REPORT
 
Aquis Park Gold Coast Jan 15th - Race 5 – Trainer M Leitch advised that Chicago Cub was found to have swelling to its offside eye post-race and was receiving treatment.

Race 5 – STAR CENTRE – Following the disappointing performance trainer K Kemp advised the horse has now been spelled.
Race 9 – ZOU ZOUAMORE - Following the disappointing performance trainer K Kemp advised the horse has now been spelled.
 
GENERAL
 
As C Meehan was ill, Stewards permitted riding changes as per the Race day summary sheet. C Meehan was advised he would require a medical clearance prior to resuming race riding.
 
Race 1: AN ARVO TRACKSIDE 29 JANUARY QTIS Two-Year-Old Handicap 1200 metres
 
CAPITEEL – Proved difficult to load. Trainer representative for L Freedman was advised a warning would be placed on the colt’s barrier manners. Raced keenly in the early stages.
 
RUSSIAN WARRIOR – Near the 1000m laid out taking BETTER THAN BANSKY wider on the track for a short distance.
 
ZASCEED – Bumped on the hindquarters shortly after the start when BETTER THAN BANSKY shifted out marginally.
 
BETTER THAN BANKSY –Jumped out at the start bumping ZASCEED. Raced three wide without cover throughout. Laid out rounding the home turn.
 
Following the running of this event the track was upgraded to a Good 3.
 
Race 2: DINNER AT THE BARN FAMILY RESTAURANT Maiden Plate 1690 metres
 
A DEVIL'S CHANCE – Jumped out at the start and bumped ROC DE CAVI.
 
CONQUERING DREAMS – Over-raced in the early stages. Raced three wide with cover from the 900m.
 
FLETCHER'S MUTINY (NZ) – Slow to begin.
 
ROC DE CAVI (NZ) – Bumped at the start. Raced three wide for the majority.
 
WINDOM – Caught four wide in the early stages before progressing forward to race outside the leader from the 900m. Rider L Tilley reported the gelding resented the cross over noseband and this contributed to WINDOM weakening from the home turn. Trainer S Livingstone advised she would now experiment with gear changes going forward.
 
DREAMING JEANIE – Slow to begin. Raced three wide in the early stages before progressing forward to lead the event from the 1300m. Rider J Byrne reported it was not his intention to lead however after being slow to begin and caught wide, combined with the slow early pace of the race, he therefore elected to progress forward. He added that in his opinion the mare is better suited when ridden with cover.
 
LARAINA – Laid out rounding the home turn.
 
SINGLE CHARGE – Raced three wide for the majority. Weakened from the 400m.
 
 
Race 3: KINGSLEY LAWSON LAWYERS OPEN Handicap 1350 metres
 
BOLD WARRIOR – Over-raced in the early and middle stages.
 
GOODONYA SONJA – Began awkwardly. Laid in under pressure in the early stages of the home straight.
 
EXCLUSIVE – As L Cassidy was to be overweight, Stewards permitted B Thompson to ride the gelding. L Cassidy was reprimanded pursuant to AR190(3). Rider B Thompson reported EXCLUSIVE travelled well to the home turn however when placed under pressure failed to respond to his riding and was disappointing.
 
 
Race 4: SIRROMET Maiden Handicap 1200 metres
 
DOCTOR JACK – Jumped out at the start and bumped STRADONE LADY.
 
MARLEEDOONE – Laid in over the final 100m.
 
HURIWAI – Jumped in at the start.
 
WILSON WON – Raced three wide without cover for the majority.
 
ARGYLE PINK – Slow to begin. Had difficulty obtaining clear running rounding the home turn and in the early stages of the home straight and again inside the final 100m when racing in restricted room to the inside of MARLEEDOONE which laid in.
 
SIR LOUIE – Began awkwardly. Raced three wide with cover for the majority.
 
STAR OF COUTEAU – Hampered on jumping when HURIWAI jumped in. Raced three wide with cover for the majority.
 
STRADONE LADY – Trainer N Hemmings was reprimanded pursuant to LR67 for the late declaration of rider on that filly. Bumped at the start and lost ground.
 
Race 5: SCHWEPPES Maiden Handicap 1200 metres
 
BANDIT – Raced three without cover for the majority. Improved onto the heels of SO FIRED UP rounding the home turn before being obliged to shift back to the inside to obtain clear running. Near the 100m improved onto heels and was unable to be fully tested by its rider. Rider W Peel reported the horse raced greenly throughout and recommend to the trainer that blinkers be applied.
 
SO FIRED UP – On arrival at the barriers the saddle on the gelding was readjusted.
 
MORE TO ADORE (NZ) – Began awkwardly. Inclined to lay out over the final 100m.
 
AMPHAWA – Laid in under pressure in the home straight.
 
MAJESTICS REQUEST – Slow to begin.
 
DUBAI DEE – Began awkwardly. Steadied near the 100m when MORE TO ADORE laid out.
 
OFF ROAD – Raced three wide in the early stages before progressing forward to lead the event from the 800m.
 
FLECKERL – Slow to begin.
 
TAUCITY – Fractious after being loaded into the barriers.
 
 
Race 6: GREAT NORTHERN RATINGS BAND 0 - 65 Handicap 1200 metres
 
FIRST CROWN – Raced three wide in the early stages.
 
MAGIC IN ME – Bumped on jumping. Had difficulty obtaining clear running in the early stages of the home straight.
 
HODGSON – Began awkwardly and shifted out bumping REAL EMPRESS.
 
BELLA ROYALE – Jumped in at the start. Had difficulty obtaining clear running in the early stages of the home straight.
 
VON SAGA – Apprentice S Tomlinson was fined $300 pursuant to AR143(14)(a) for failing to claim his full allowance. Held up on heels near the 100m and obliged to alter course.
 
REAL EMPRESS – Bumped on jumping.
 
SILVERBROOK LAD – Jumped out at the start.
 
Race 7: TAB VENUE MODE BENCHMARK 65 Handicap 1690 metres
 
Following persistent showers the track was rated a Good 4 at 4:17pm
 
ELIZANO – Raced wide in the early stages.
 
WINTER RAIN – Slow to begin. Held up rounding the home turn.
 
ELLASTRA – Checked near the 400m. M Du Plessis, rider of VALLEY OF DREAMS, was found guilty of a charge of careless riding pursuant to AR131(a) in that approaching the 400m he permitted his mount to shift out when insufficiently clear of ELLASTRA resulting in that runner having to be checked. The licence of M Du Plessis to ride in races was suspended for a period of 8 days to commence midnight 23rd January up to and including midnight 31st January 2022.
 
TILLY'S STAR – Rider R Fradd reported his mount over-raced in the early stages however after obtaining cover near the 900m settled more comfortably from that point.
 
VALLEY OF DREAMS – Began awkwardly.
 
EDINBURGH – Declared a late scratching at 1:19pm following the track upgrade to a Good 3.
 
 
Race 8: EVENTS AT IEEC.COM.AU BENCHMARK 68 Handicap 1350 metres
 
Following further showers the track was rated a Soft 6 at 5:20pm
 
CAMP RIFLE – Raced three wide for the majority.
 
BROOK HILL – Began awkwardly.
 
VITESSE FRANCAIS – Fractious after being loaded into the barriers, was removed, underwent veterinary examination, and was cleared to start. In this incident J Byrne reported his right leg contacted the barrier partition. Bumped on jumping. Rider J Byrne reported VITESSE FRANCAIS was not entirely comfortable on today’s surface.
 
IN GREAT NIC – Held up for clear running from rounding the home turn until near the 200m.
 
DREAM SONG – On arrival at the barriers the saddle on the mare was readjusted. Jumped in at the start.
 
Following the event it was noted that the judges placings on the infield semaphore board were inadvertently displayed as 4-10-9-7 when in fact the correct numbers were 4-10-7-9.
 
 
Race 9: RAY WHITE IPSWICH Class 1 Handicap 1350 metres
 
Following further 16mls of rainfall Stewards inspected the track and found it suitable to race with the start of this event rescheduled to 5:52pm.
 
OSTERMEIER – Slow to begin.
 
MIDNIGHT RAMBLER – Following the event rider J Byrne was examined by QAS staff after complaining of soreness in his right leg.
 
SHE'S AN EAGLE – Slow to begin.
 
FLASH GURU (NZ) – Raced three wide without cover for the majority.
 
SPIRIT'S CHARM – Raced three wide with cover for the majority.
 
BRIEF SOJOURN – Trainer K Deacon was fined $100 pursuant to LR67 for the late declaration of rider on that gelding.
 
MANDEVILLE ROCKER (NZ) – Began awkwardly. Laid in near the 1100m and brushed the running rail.
 
ZABCAN – Raced three wide with cover for the majority.
 
DEMBE – Rider L Tilley reported his mount did not appreciate the rain affected track and failed to respond when placed under pressure in the home straight.
