GENERAL Stewards approved the following jockeys to ride overweight.Race 3 – Luke Tarrant (I Ponder) plus 1/2kg at 53kg.Race 6 – Ryan Maloney (Coco Rox) plus 1/2kg at 55.5kg. Race 1: SIRROMET WINES BUNDAMBA PLATE QTIS Two-Year-Old Handicap 1200 metres NORTHERN EXPRESS – Had difficulty obtaining clear running over the final 200m. ROSE OF SHIRAZ – Brushed with HONEY POT on jumping. Raced keenly in the early and middle stages. SPOOKY SPIRIT – Laid in under pressure in the straight. HONEY POT – Brushed with ROSE OF SHIRAZ on jumping. Stewards questioned trainer T. Gollan regarding the filly’s performance. Mr Gollan said he was in the view that the filly may not have appreciated today’s track conditions and that it was now his intention to step the filly up in distance. LOOSE UNIT – Shortly after the start had to be eased off the heels of MISHANI WARFARE, which rolled inwards. Near the 700m, momentarily steadied when SAWEETIE was being restrained when overracing. SAWEETIE – Raced in restricted room and had to be steadied shortly after the start. Raced keenly during the middle stages. Race 2: SCHWEPPES T.L. COONEY 1350 metres SUBTERRANEAN – Laid inwards when placed under pressure in the home straight. MINTO’S PARADISE – Overraced in the early stages. BERDINI’S GIRL – Raced three wide in the early stages. MAURICE’S STAR – Began awkwardly and as a result lost ground. Overraced in the early stages. Race 3: CHANNEL SEVEN PROVINCIAL STAYERS FINAL BENCHMARK 78 Handicap 2500 metres ACCESSORY – Raced keenly in the early stages. READ MY FUTURE – Made the home turn awkwardly and shifted out. Jockey B. Loy was fined $200 pursuant to AR132(7)(a)(ii) in that he used his whip 8 times prior to the 100m, 3 more than permitted. FIREBOX – Slow to begin. Near the 2000m, commenced to overrace and had to be restrained off the heels of READ MY FUTURE. Raced keenly for a short distance approaching 1500m. NEPTUNE’S CHOICE - Steadied from the heels of READ MY FUTURE when rounding the home turn when that horse shifted out. SCILAGO – Jumped away awkwardly. Race 4: GREAT NORTHERN IPSWICH MILE One Metro Win Handicap (This Season) 1666 metres The start of this race was delayed approximately three minutes when LADY RINGO had to be resaddled on arrival at the barriers, and OLYMPIC CLASS required a bridle adjustment. GLEN ORD – Raced three wide throughout. Bumped and forced wider rounding the home turn. DIVINE SANCTION – After being caught wide early, obliged to be restrained near the rear of the field and may not have appreciated today’s track conditions. MAGIC CHARLEE – After racing three wide early, rider B. Loy elected to ride his mount forward to reach the lead leaving the 800m. JAKAMA – Bumped heavily with SHOPPING WISE on jumping. Near the 1400m, overraced and restrained for cover, then commenced to over race for some distance. HE IS – Approaching the home turn, was bumped when RED LIGHT ROXANNE shifted out to improve. RED LIGHT ROXANNE – Slow into stride. When attempting to shift wider approaching the home turn and bumped with HE IS. SHOPPING WISE – Slow to begin. Bumped heavily with JAKAMA on jumping. Raced three wide with cover over the final 1000m. THE MINIVAN – Stood flatfooted and was slow to begin. WITHOUT THINKING – Leaving the 1400m, steadied from heels and raced ungenerously for a short distance. Race 5: RIVER 949FM Class 6 Handicap 1100 metres ELOQUENTLY – Bumped when placed in restricted room near the 900m. Near the 800m, steadied from the heels of ACROBATIC which shifted in. GOLDSBOROUGH (NZ) – Began awkwardly. Raced three wide throughout. Laid in under pressure in the home straight. SHAMATON – Held up approaching the home turn before shifting very wide to secure clear running. Lost the off hind plate in running. SOUL OBSESSION – Near the 900m obliged to steady when racing in restricted room when ACROBATIC shifted in. Apprentice K. Wilson-Taylor was reprimanded pursuant to AR131(a) in relation to this incident. Race 6: RAY WHITE IPSWICH QTIS Three-Year-Old Handicap 1100 metres RUBIQUITOUS – Jockey J. Lloyd was reprimanded pursuant to AR132(7)(a)(ii) in that he used his whip 6 times prior to the 100m, 1 more than permitted. MISS HIPSTAR – Began awkwardly. Raced in restricted room near the 900m. Held up rounding the home turn and in the early part of the home straight. COCO ROX – Connections advised that it is their intention to race off pace with cover today. Very slow to begin and settled further back than anticipated. Held up rounding the home turn and in the early part of the home straight. GLORIOUS RUBY – Near the 900m, became awkwardly placed at the heels of ORIENTAL PRINCESS, which was laying in. Raced three wide.INASEC – Raced four wide for the majority. MOST DAZZLING – Raced four wide throughout. ORIENTAL PRINCESS – Began awkwardly. Laid in despite the efforts’ of its rider near the 900m. Raced three wide. NORD LYON – Raced in restricted room near the 900m and was inconvenienced. Raced three wide, and then commenced to over race near the 600m after improving onto heels and again being obliged to steady. Race 7: TAB IPSWICH CUP 2150 metres BERDIBEK (FR) – Held up approaching the home turn and in the early part of the home straight. Jockey J. Orman was reprimanded pursuant to AR132(7)(a)(ii) in that he used his whip 6 times prior to the 100m, 1 more than permitted. BARTHOLOMEU DIAS (GB) – Held up approaching the home turn and in the early part of the home straight. SWORDS DRAWN – Had to be resaddled on arrival at the barriers. OUR INTRIGUE (NZ) – Held up rounding the home turn. Jockey L. Cassidy was fined $200 pursuant to AR132(7)(a)(ii) in that he used his whip 6 times prior to the 100m, 1 more than permitted. STREET DANCER – Made the 1600m turn awkwardly and then shifted wider. TAVION PRINCE (NZ) – Steadied off SPENCER approaching the 1600m. YOUNGBLOOD – Carried wider near the 1600m when DUNHILL shifted wider. Raced three wide early until positioning on the pace approaching the 1400m. OSTERMEIER – Slow to begin. TOP ORDER – Slow to begin. Obliged to steady from the heels from BARTHOLOMEU DIAS when rounding the home turn, which shifted in. CHAKANA (NZ) – Slow to begin. DUNHILL (NZ) – Made the 1600m turn awkwardly and shifted wider. Raced wide throughout. Jockey T. Harrison commented that the gelding wanted to lay out throughout. A post race veterinary examination revealed no significant findings. LADY SOLERNO – Raced wide throughout. Race 8: CITY OF IPSWICH EYE LINER STAKES 1350 metres EMERALD KINGDOM – Near the 200m was carried wider when ROMAN AUREUS shifted out to improve. DESERT LORD – Raced wide throughout HOLYFIELD – Laid in under pressure over the final 200m. LAST CHANCE – Raced wide throughout. VINCO – Near the 1000m improved onto the heels of ROMAN AUREUS and steadied. Held up rounding the home turn and for the remainder of the straight and was unable to be fully tested. CHARLEISE – Slow to begin. ROMAN AUREUS – Overraced in the early stages. Raced in restricted room near the 800m and steadied. RED CHASE – Raced wide throughout. SIR WARWICK – Jockey A. Allen was reprimanded pursuant to AR227(a) in that he was negligent for failing to remove a towel which he requested from barrier staff prior to the start of the event. Stewards in assessing the incident noted that the towel was discarded shortly after the start and were satisfied that SIR WARWICK did not carry additional weight for an extended distance or have any impact on any other runner. BARNEY’S LAW – Near the 800m steadied from the heels of EMERALD KINGDOM. PALLADAS – Slow to begin after jumping away awkwardly. Raced wide throughout. BARGANNON – Raced wide. OUR BIRDSONG (NZ) – Began moderately. Raced in restricted room near the 800m and steadied. Race 9: KINGSLEY LAWSON LAWYERS GAI WATERHOUSE CLASSIC 1200 metres Following the running of race 8, the track was downgraded to a soft (6). JUAN DIVA – Stewards acceded to a request from Co-trainer W. Freedman to scratch the mare at 3.44pm as Mr Freedman was of the view that JUAN DIVA would not perform to its best ability on today’s surface. MAJESTIC SHOT – Lost the near hind plate in running. TAHITIAN DANCER – Near the 1000m steadied from the heels of MAJESTIC SHOT. WILLO TITTO – Raced wide. TYCOON EVIE – Began awkwardly. PULL ANCHOR – Raced wide. CHEZBLACK – Slow to begin.
