QUEENSLANDRACING INTEGRITY COMMISSION STEWARDS REPORT IPSWICH TURF CLUB WEDNESDAY 5TH OCTOBER 2022 WEATHER – Overcast TRACK RATING – Soft 6 RAIL – 0.5m entire OFFICIALS Chairman of Stewards – J AdamsStewards – K Daly, J Mitchell, J CreminClerk of Scales – G GooldJudge – M LincolnVeterinarian – Dr S FlynnSwab Attendants – J CromptonStarter – C Wallace, S Litzow Race 1: THE BARN FAMILY RESTAURANT Maiden Handicap 1666 metres HOT SAUCE was declared a late scratching at 1:21pm when the horse was unable to be loaded into the barriers. On declaration of correct weight Stewards ordered all bets on HOT SAUCE refunded in full and the following deductions to apply: 1st SURREEL – 31c win, 29c place2nd DRAGON SONG – 42c place3rd SAINT BARTHOLOMEW – 23c place. Trainer C Munce was advised HOT SAUCE would require a further barrier certificate prior to its next race start. Declaration of correct weight was delayed allowing J Zielke, trainer of 2nd placegetter DRAGON SONG, to view the photo finish image for first place. After doing so correct weight was declared on the semaphored placings. EMPEROR TEIO – Over-raced in the early stages of the event. SAINT BARTHOLOMEW – Raced wide in the early stages of the event. AL SWISS – Slow to begin. CHEROKEE GIRL – Raced wide in the early stages of the event. PURINUAN BOY – Over-raced and inclined to lay out in the early stages of the event. Race 2: THIS IS A CONVERSATION STARTER RACEDAY 28 OCTOBERClass 6 Handicap 1200 metres LORD MARKEL – Over-raced in the early stages of the event. ACROBATIC – Laid in under pressure over the final 100m crowding the running of JOY TO ALL which had to be steadied. JOY TOO ALL – Laid out rounding the home turn.Steadied inside the final 100m when crowed for room by ACROBATIC which laid in under pressure. Rider R Maloney reported the horse was not suited by the slow early sectionals of the race. Race 3: MELBOURNE CUP LUNCH TICKETS ON SALE Class 3 Handicap1666 metres BRAZEN BRECCIA – Bumped at the start when A BIG CHANCE jumped out. DUTCH GOLD – Raced wide in the early and middle stages of the event before obtaining position outside the leader near the 900m. A BIG CHANCE – Jumped out at the start and bumped BRAZEN BRECCIA. Had to be steadied when awkwardly placed at the heels of BUCKIN’ LUCKY when attempting a narrow run near the 400m. C Meehan, rider of A BIG CHANCE, was advised to exercise greater care in similar circumstances. ZOU ZOU KACANARKIS – Rider M Hellyer reported the horse felt awkward in its action on pulling up. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no significant abnormalities other than the horse coughing on several occasions. Trainer K Kemp indicated he would now consider adding a tongue tie to the horse’s approved gear going forward. BUCKIN' LUCKY – Slow to begin. Bumped on the hindquarters near the 400m and became unbalanced. Race 4: BASE METAL FABRICATION Class 2 Handicap 1000 metres ZAVABOOM – Crowded at the start between SACCA which jumped out and BOUDICA’S GIFT which jumped in. REFERO – Rider R Maloney reported he was disappointed with the overall performance of the horse. SACCA – Jumped out at the start. ALL STASHED UP – Raced wide for the majority the event. OKAY OKAY – Began awkwardly, resulting in the right leg of rider M Kennedy contacting the barrier partition and becoming unbalanced in the saddle for a short distance. BOUDICA'S GIFT – On arrival at the barriers the tongue tie on the horse was refitted. Jumped in at the start. Lost off hind plate in running. FILLYRAE CYRUS – Raced three wide throughout the event. Race 5: SIRROMET QTIS Three-Year-Old Maiden Handicap 1350 metres ACCELERATED GROWTH – Slow to begin. Over-raced in the early stages. IDEELIC – Rider R Maloney reported the horse was inclined to race greenly during various stages of the event. SIMPLE WAY – Raced three wide for the majority of the event. Rider B Thompson reported after being caught racing wide in the early stages he elected to remain three wide and allow SIMPLE WAY to travel where comfortable. Laid in under pressure in the home straight. PAIENBARA – Checked at the start when REDVEDEV shifted out abruptly on jumping away. JUKEBOX GLOW – On entering the home straight became unbalanced when bumped on the hindquarters after attempting a narrow run between SIMPLE WAY and BIRDONAWING. REDVEDEV – Jumped out abruptly at the start. MATRIARCH ROSE – Slow to begin. MISHANI MOBSTER – Bumped on the hindquarters shortly after the start and became unbalanced. Momentarily held up on entering the home straight. Race 6: OXLEY GOLF CLUB BENCHMARK 65 Handicap 1100 metres BOBBY AXELROD – Began awkwardly. ROYAL NICCI – Jumped out abruptly at the start.Raced three wide for the majority of the event. Rider S Thornton reported she desisted from pressuring the horse in the home straight after ROYAL NICCI felt awkward in its action from the 400m. A post-race veterinary examination revealed the horse to be exhibiting symptoms of myositis. LITERMONT – Slow to begin. Rider A Jones was reminded of her obligations to ride her mounts out fully to the end of the race. AIN'T SHE LOVELY – Raced four wide for the majority of the event. Race 7: NUTURF BENCHMARK 68 Handicap 1350 metres BUSHIDO – Raced wide in the early stages. Laid out rounding the home turn. AVENUE OF STARS – Knuckled shortly after the start and became unbalanced for a short distance. PLATINI – Rider J Orman reported the horse travelled fairly in the early and middle stages however did finish the race off strongly in the home straight. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no significant abnormality, other than coughing several times on examination. HE'S THE NEWS – On arrival at the barriers the saddle was readjusted. CLASS OF ROYALTY – Rider S Galloway dropped his whip leaving the 300m. ARCHDEACON – Began awkwardly. BEEF WEEK PRINCESS – Jumped out at the start. When asked to comment on tactics adopted soon after entering the home straight, rider R Fradd reported he initially intended to shift to the inside and take a run between CLASS OF ROYALTY and AVENUE OF STARS, however when AVENUE OF STARS failed to improve into the race at that point, he elected to shift out around the heels of BUSHIDO to obtain clear running. STATIC LIFT – A post-race veterinary examination revealed a laceration to the near hind canon. Race 8: ICARE SUPPORT SERVICES Class 1 Plate 1350 metres CHOIR – The tongue tie on the horse was refitted on arrival at the barriers. Slow to begin. Put in an awkward stride and became momentarily unbalanced near the 250m. CLAUDIUS – Slow to begin. Raced three wide with cover for the majority of the event. GRENADO – From the wide barrier was restrained shortly after the start to rearward position closer to the rails. MEMORIAL DAY – Passing the 400m clipped the heels of the weakening MEMORIAL DAY and lost ground. T See, rider of MEMORIAL DAY, was reprimanded under AR132(6)(b) for raising his whip arm above shoulder height. MILITARY GAMBLER – Raced wide for the majority of the event. NIGHT VISION – Trainer P Jenkins was fined $100 under AR206(2) for the late addition of an off-side bubble cheeker to the horses’ approved gear. SCORCH THE TURF – Laid out under pressure in the home straight. CASHOFFA – Raced wide for the majority of the event.
