Race 2 - Brodie Loy TUBTUMPER +1/2kgRace 5 - Michael Murphy – LYNRIC LASS +1/2kgRace 8 – James Orman OKALANI +1/2kg All runners returning from spells exceeding 12 months at today’s meeting were examined by the Veterinary surgeon prior to their events and passed suitable to race. Race 1: FOLLOW @IPSWICHTURFCLUB Maiden Plate 800 metres OLD MAN PAT – A post-race veterinary examination revealed the gelding to have minor lacerations to the near hind consistent with being galloped on. HOT OR NOT – Raced wide throughout. LIGHT UP THE DAWN – Checked near the 50m and clipped the heels of OLD MAN PAT. At a subsequent inquiry Apprentice Olivia Kendal, represented by senior rider Samantha Collett, pleaded guilty to a charge of careless riding under the provisions of AR131(a) for permitting OLD MAN PAT to shift out under pressure over the final stages resulting in the LIGHT UP THE DAWN clipping heels and blundering. Miss Kendal had her license to ride in races suspended for a period of 11 days to commence at midnight 26 November 2022 and to expire at midnight 7 December 2022. MISS FASSIFERN – Slow to begin. SIZZLELOVER – Slow to muster speed in the early stages. SINGAPORE LADY – Raced wide. Raced greenly and hung out rounding the home turn. YOU ESS ESS ARE – Raced greenly and hung out rounding the home turn and in the home straight. MISS SPONTANEOUS – Hung out rounding the home turn. Following this race the track was upgraded to a Good 3 retrospectively. Race 2: TAB Fillies and Mares Maiden Plate 1350 metres ALBERTA THE FOX - Raced three wide without cover. MESAYSO – Began awkwardly. Raced three wide with cover. STEAL THE FIELD – Over-raced in the early stages when leading. EXCUSE ME – Slow to begin. FAT FINGERS – Hung out under pressure in the home straight. TUBTHUMPER – Rider B Loy explained that after beginning well rather than being caught wide he elected to allow the filly to stride forward and as a result settled further forward than he had anticipated. Race 3: GREAT NORTHERN Colts, Geldings and Entires Maiden Plate 1350 metres MAMA'S MAN – Raced three wide without cover throughout. METAVERSE – Over-raced in the middle stages and as a result shifted out near the 900m and raced wide from that point. PERGAMON – Hung out rounding the turn. LAST ROYAL – Raced fiercely in the early stages. Race 4: CROWNE RE GEOFF & ALLY BENCHMARK 58 Handicap 2150 metres BARRYMORE – Apprentice M Castle was fined $400 under the provisions of AR132(7)(a)(ii) for using the whip 6 times prior to the 100m, 1 more than permitted. PAST TENSE – Stood flat footed at the start and lost significant ground. Trainer T Hall was advised that a warning would be placed on the gelding. SANDGATE ROAD - Steadied from heels near the 1400m. AY BEE ARE – Overraced in the early stages. BIG HITTER – Slow to begin. A post-race veterinary examination revealed a laceration to near hind leg. ALLUDERE – Slow to begin. Race 5: TOTAL CLUB MANAGEMENT Fillies and Mares BENCHMARK 60 Handicap 1200 metres ZANAZOU – Three wide without cover throughout. MANDALAY BLONDE – Forced wider near the 700m by NAJAH. NAJAH - Overraced in the early and middle stages. Hung out rounding the home turn. When questioned regarding the performance, rider R Maloney explained that in his opinion the mare over racing badly during the middle stages had a major impact on its ability to finish the race off competitively. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no significant findings. MISHANI ESPRIT – Slow to begin. Momentarily contacted the running rail near the 1200m. LYNRIC LASS - Slow to begin. Race 6: FUTURE FINANCE GROUP Colts, Geldings & Entires BENCHMARK 60 Handicap 1200 metres CHART BUSTER – Jumped awkwardly. Over-raced in the early and middle stages. Held up for clear running rounding the home turn. Bled for the 1st time during the event. Trainer J Healy was advised the gelding will be stood down from racing for three months and further prior to next racing would be required to gallop 1000m in the presence of Stewards. RIVER ROCKET – Rider J Orman explained at the scale that the gelding did not appreciate the firm surface. TEMPLAR – Held up for clear running rounding the home turn. Following the race, rider T Brooker dismounted on entry into the enclosure and following this the gelding was followed by the veterinary surgeon to the swabbing area to be examined. Upon arriving at the swabbing area, TEMPLAR collapsed and had a significant bleeding attack and died. Swab samples were taken by the attending Veterinarian for analysis. HERECUM DA DRUMS – Slow to begin. WHISTLIN' RULER – Over-raced early and middle stages. Held up for clear running rounding the home turn. Race 7: COLENSO JOINERY SUMMER PROVINCIAL SPRINT SERIES - HEAT - BENCHMARK 75 1200 metres Due to the delay for the animal welfare matter in race 6, the amended times for the final two races were as follows: Race 7 – 5.31pmRace 8 – 5.59pm BROKEN HERO – Stewards sought an explanation from rider J Stanley regarding the performance of the gelding. He stated that he was not entirely disappointed with today’s effort as it was carrying 61.5kg and was first up from a spell. He added that the gelding will take a fitness benefit from today’s race. CHECKERS -Slow to begin. MOSCINI – Held up for clear running rounding the home turn. ORIENTAL RUNNER – Raced three wide without cover throughout. Race 8: IPSWICH CITY BULLS FC BENCHMARK 62 Handicap 1666 metres CLASS OF ROYALTY – Raced three wide in the early stages until near the 1000m. KOMATA - Held up for clear running in the home straight until the final stages. DAINTREE DIVA – Co-trainer Ms S Laxon was fined $200 for failing to declare a rider by the prescribed time under the provisions of LR67(1). Held up for clear running in the home straight until the final stages. OKALANI – When asked to comment on the performance, rider J Orman explained that the mare races best with cover, but from the wide barrier he was forced to work forward rather than being forced to race wide. He added that whilst in hindsight this may not have been to the mares advantage he did however feel it was entitled to finish the race off better than it did on this occasion and in his opinion was disappointing. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no significant abnormalities. EAST ESPLANADE – Began awkwardly.
