Race 1: @IPSWICHTURFCLUB Maiden Handicap 2150 metres Zoe's Joey – Began awkwardly and was bumped soon after the start by WILLNOTQUIT (NZ). Willnotquit (NZ) – Jumped outwards at the start bumping ZOE’S JOEY. Rider reported his mount was inclined to lay in. La Brea (NZ) – Cast the near fore plate. Royal Rift – Slow to begin. Slick Heels – Connections advised that it was their intention to ride the mare further forward if circumstances permitted. Ridden accordingly. Race 2: WILPAK CHRISTMAS CIRCUS Maiden Handicap 1100 metres He's A Hotfoot (NZ) – Slow to begin. Over raced early. The Preacher – Fractious in the barriers. Slow to begin. Attempted to buck soon after the start and trailed the main body of the field. Trainer G Cornish was advised that the gelding has been stood down from racing until the completion of a satisfactory trial. Red Hot Love – Fractious in the barriers. Aquarius – Laid in when placed under pressure in the home straight. Amalfi Queen – Steadied of the heels of DABIDOYA, which laid out rounding the home turn. Leinster – Slow to begin. Over raced early. Perfect Legacy – Raced wide throughout. Race 3: CARINA JUNIOR RUGBY LEAGUE BENCHMARK 62 Handicap 800 metres Orsetto – Hung in under pressure in the home straight. Charged – Near the 600m, when over racing, shifted out across the heels of I AM FEARLESS and lost ground. I Am Fearless – Jumped in the air at the start and lost ground. Hung out during the run. Was brushed on the hind quarters by CHARGED, when that runner shifted out, leaving the 600m. Laid in over the final 300m. A post-race veterinary examination failed to reveal any apparent abnormalities. Brazetti – Slow to begin. Graciede – Hung out. Race 4: JOHN PEDERSON MEMORIAL Class 4 Handicap 1200 metresThe start of this race was delayed considerably due to two dogs having to be removed from the course proper. Royal Exit – Made the home turn awkwardly and shifted wider. Avoca – Over raced in the early and middle stages. Near the 100m was disappointed for a run to the inside of SHANJOMI which laid in. Mysterious Art – Rider reported his mount laid out throughout. Shanjomi – Laid in marginally over the final 100m. Helsun – Jumped awkwardly and was steadied of the heels of AVOCA soon after the start. Over raced and hung out in the early and middle stages. Race 5: BLK AUTO BENCHMARK 58 Handicap 1200 metres Master Red – Rider reported that in his view the gelding may not have appreciated todays racing surface. Silver Galaxy – Over raced early. Hot Profit – Fractious in the barriers. Metal Rock – Began awkwardly and as a result was slow to begin. Agent Of Mayhem – Slow to begin. Laid in throughout. Formula Excel (IRE) – Cast the off-hind plate. A post-race veterinary examination revealed an abscess to the off-hind heel bulb and was treated on course. Claudius – Began awkwardly. Hung in under pressure over the final 250m. Russian Romeo – Raced wide. Hung in rounding the home turn. Race 6: QBIC BENCHMARK 65 Handicap 1666 metresAfter the running of race five stewards and a delegation of senior riders inspected a large divot near the rail at approximately the 1300m. This patch underwent remedial works and both riders and stewards were satisfied the track was suitable for racing to continue. Calm Seeker (NZ) – Over raced in the middle stages. The Carpenter – Tired badly over the final stages. A post-race veterinary examination failed to reveal any apparent abnormalities. Connections were advised that the gelding has been stood down from racing until the completion of a satisfactory trial. In Agreement – Tired badly over the final stages. Rider reported the horse failed to travel throughout. A post-race veterinary examination failed to reveal any apparent abnormalities. Connections were advised that the gelding has been stood down from racing until the completion of a satisfactory trial. Twice On Sunday – Connections advised that it was their intention to ride the mare forward with cover if circumstances permitted. Ridden accordingly. Began awkwardly. Over raced early. Laid out under pressure in the home straight. Spurious – Rider Robbie Fradd was queried with regard to his reasons for improving three wide leaving the1000m. Mr Fradd stated that his mount is one paced and when THE CARPENTER was placed under pressure and commenced to yield ground, he elected to shift three wide. The rider further added that after leaving the 700m CALM SEEKER shifted wider resulting in his own mount then being obliged to race even wider thereafter. Laid in when under pressure in the home straight. Leaving the 100m had to steady off the heels of CALM SEEKER when that runner rolled out and was then switched back to the inside to secure clear running. Aiolos – Slow to begin. Ronlee Gal – Fractious in the barriers, began awkwardly and was very slow to begin. A warning was placed against the mare’s barrier manners. Race 7: TAB RATINGS BAND 0 - 58 Handicap 1666 metres Takunai – Connections advised that it was their intention to ride the gelding further forward if circumstances permitted. Ridden accordingly. Friend Of God – Heavily bumped on the hind quarters rounding the home turn and became unbalanced for a number of strides. Cassowary – Raced three wide early. Buffeted between runners rounding the home turn as a result of SEEKING GUIDANCE shifting out abruptly against the efforts of the rider. Seeking Guidance – Shifted out abruptly rounding the home turn against the efforts of the rider and bumped heavily with CASSOWARY. Rider reported the gelding did not feel entirely comfortable in its action. It was noted that the gelding had a minor laceration to the off foreleg.
