Rocked – Attempted to jump the 1500m crossing and became awkward. Tightened for room and checked after passing the 1500m, jockey L Allen pled guilty to a charge of careless riding under AR131(a) in that she failed to make sufficient effort to prevent her mount (ZURI ZURI) from shifting inwards, tightening the running of ROCKED, causing that horse to be checked. Shifted out near the 200m and bumped with BOARDIE.

Zoucan Toucan – Slow to begin. Whilst laying in when rounding the home turn bumped with BETTER CLASS.

Race 4: IEEC OPEN EVENING 2 FEBRUARY RATINGS BAND 0 - 58 Handicap 1200 metres

Prior to the declaration of correct weight stewards considered an objection lodged by M Butler, the rider of fourth placegetter LITTLE VISTA, alleging interference between the 150m and 100m against the third placegetter ALBERTS IN CHARGE (L Allen). Stewards found that at a point leaving the 150m ALBERTS IN CHARGE shifted out under pressure causing LITTLE VISTA to be tightened for room causing its rider to stop riding and causing the gelding to lose ground. As stewards were satisfied that the ground lost was greater than the long head margin at the conclusion of the event, the protest was upheld.

Art Heist – Underwent farrier attention at the barriers before being examined by the vet and cleared to start. Jockey C Robertson was reprimanded under AR128(2) for leaving the course without permission following this event.

Little Vista – Tightened for room and lost ground near the 150m.

Start Strutting – At the request of the rider underwent a post-race vet examination which revealed no abnormalities.

Albert's In Charge – Laid out under pressure in the home straight.

Spill The Diamonds – Stewards inquired into the reasons for SPILL THE DIAMONDS clipping heels, blundering and dislodging rider E Chaves after passing the winning post. Stewards established that over the concluding stages START STRUTTING, whilst weakening, shifted out to a position in front of SPILL THE DIAMONDS, which was finishing the race off strongly. As a result, SPILL THE DIAMONDS improved quickly onto the heels of START STRUTTING and was directed inwards to avoid that horses heels, in doing so SPILL THE DIAMONDS initiated contact with the hindquarters of ART HEIST, causing that horse to shift outwards resulting in SPILL THE DIAMONDS to clip that geldings heels, blunder and dislodge jockey Chaves. Post-race vet examination revealed abrasions to both the off-hind and off-fore legs and found to be lame in the off-fore leg. Vet certificate required prior to racing again. Jockey Chaves was examined by the QAS and cleared to fulfill his remaining engagements.

Herecum Da Drums – Slow to begin.

Race 5: GREAT NORTHERN BENCHMARK 70 Handicap 1100 metres
