Stewards approved the following overweight allowances at today’s meeting-

Race 1: FOLLOW @IPSWICHTURFCLUB QTIS Two-Years-Old Class 1
Plate 1100 metres
SPEEDY MACHO – Slow to begin.
SWITCH AND SLIDE – Hung out rounding the home turn. Apprentice M Castle reported that her mount raced greenly throughout.
Race 2: TAB QTIS Three-Years-Old BM62 Handicap 1700 metres
The start was delayed when ORIGINAL GLAZE had to be re-shod.
MISHANI SPARTAN – Began awkwardly and lost ground. Momentarily held up for clear running approaching the 400m.
MISHANI KINGDOM – Began awkwardly and lost ground. Laid out under pressure in the home straight.
MISHANI CHOICE – Near the 1500m, steadied, shifted wider on the track and was then permitted to stride forward by its rider to obtain a position outside the leader near the 1200m.
TOKYO BLOSSOM – Over raced in the early stages when the pace slackened. Forced wider on the track over the concluding stages. Jockey B Thompson reported that the slow tempo set in the early stages had a detrimental effect on the horse’s overall performance.
Race 3: FILLIES AND FASCINATORS QTIS Three-Years-Old Maiden
Plate 800 metres
BAUHINIA ROCK – Obliged to alter course near the 200m to secure clear running.
BOSS BANDIT – Began awkwardly and lost significant ground. Raced greenly throughout.
MR EVANS – Began awkwardly. After passing the 500m, improved onto heels and had to be steadied and then hung out for a short distance.
PICADOR – Began awkwardly and lost ground. Raced greenly throughout.
SCHUELLER – Raced wide throughout.
LIQUOR – Shifted out under pressure in the home straight.
SUPER GYPSY – Began awkwardly and lost ground. Steadied from the heels of MR EVANS near the 400m.
Race 4: SIRROMET BM70 Handicap 800 metres
RAMTASTIC – Slow to begin.
BULLETIN (USA) – Raced wide.
DREAM WEAVING – After passing the 300m, bumped heavily on the hindquarters by ORSETTO and became unbalanced. At a subsequent inquiry apprentice Y Lewis pleaded guilty to a charge of careless riding under the provisions of AR131(a) in that as the rider of ORSETTO, she directed her mount out near the 300m around the heels of AMERICAN RED at an acute angle in order to secure clear running between AMERICAN RED and DREAM WEAVING, made heavy contact with DREAM WEAVING, causing both runners to become unbalanced. Apprentice Y Lewis’s license to ride in races was suspended for a period of 7 days to commence midnight the 19/3/23 and to expire midnight the 26/3/23.
ORSETTO – Bumped heavily with DREAM WEAVING near the 300m.
AMERICAN RED – Raced wide.
NOSEY – Held up for clear running over the final 100m and went to the line without being fully tested.
DEEP STATE – Raced wide. Jockey M Butler dropped his offside rein near the 100m.
Race 5: SCHWEPPES Maiden Handicap 1350 metres
WORD FROM ABOVE – Slow to begin. Raced wide throughout.
LEERY – Slow to begin. Held up rounding the home turn.
MY PINS (NZ) – Trainer B Laming was fined $100 pursuant to LR67(1) for failing to notify a rider within the prescribed time.
OBSIDIAN ROSE – Slipped on jumping and lost ground.
MAYACHI – Raced wide throughout.
SIMPLY ROSE – Slipped on jumping and lost ground. Jockey B Ainsworth reported that it was her intention to ride in a more forward position however was unable to do so after losing ground at the start.
THE UPRISING – Had difficulty securing clear running in the early stages of the home straight.
Race 6: THE BARN FAMILY RESTAURANT Maiden Handicap1350 metres
BARON OF BOOM – Raced wide throughout.
HOLTERMANN – Steadied to avoid the heels of SEIRYU after passing the 1000m. Apprentice C Collis was reprimanded pursuant to AR131(a) for shifting ground when insufficiently clear.
MUST – Raced erratically when shifting ground to secure clear running in the early stages of the home straight and continued to shift out under pressure, placing its rider at a disadvantage. Stable representative Mr B Killion was advised that the gelding would be required to officially trial prior to next racing.
CALL ME HILTON – Steadied when racing in restricted room near the 1300m.
JAKAT – Raced wide throughout.
SEIRYU – Shifted out under pressure in the home straight.
TYSON’S FURY – Raced awkwardly passing the 1000m.
MONGOLIAN FLAME (NZ) – Raced three-wide without cover throughout.
SUKICHE – Approaching the 1000m, after shifting in to obtain cover, was restrained from heels for a short distance. Approaching the 800m, was steadied when obliged to race in restricted room to the inside of HOLTERMANN. Laid out rounding the home turn and when under pressure in the home straight. Obliged to race in restricted room near the 100m.
VALE STREET – Raced wide throughout.
Race 7: GREAT NORTHERN Fillies and Mares Class 1 Handicap1200 metres
ABU SIMBEL – Over raced for a short distance approaching the 800m.
BIG IMPACT – Tightened on jumping and obliged to race in restricted room for a short distance. Held up for clear running from the 300m until approaching the 100m.
NASHA – Began awkwardly and lost ground.
HABEEBATI – Raced wide throughout.
TEMPTRESS KATIE – Held up for clear running rounding the home turn and in the early stages of the home straight.
SUPER ART – Raced wide.
LAGO DI BRAIES (NZ) – Hampered shortly after the start. After passing the 1000m, was steadied when obliged to race in restricted room.
Following the running of race 7, the track was downgraded to a soft 5.
Race 8: ST PATRICK'S DAY RACES 17 MARCH Colts, Geldings and
Entires Class 1 Ha 1200 metres
The start was delayed when DUTCH GOLD became fractious and underwent a veterinary examination, ROCK UP which was in the adjoining stall also underwent a veterinary examination, and both were cleared to start. Trainer S Dwyer was advised that DUTCH GOLD would have a warning placed on its barrier manners..
BULLION BOY – Began awkwardly and raced in restricted room shortly after the start. Raced wide throughout. Forced wider when rounding the home turn.
MAPLE DOOR – Slow to begin. Stewards interviewed jockey T Brooker in relation to her riding over the concluding stages. Jockey Brooker stated that her mount was inclined to lay out in the home straight, and DUTCH GOLD, which was shifting in over the concluding stages, placed her awkwardly at heels. Upon review of the patrol footage, stewards accepted the evidence provided by jockey Brooker.
BRENTWOOD – Raced wide throughout.
LAST ROYAL – Raced wide throughout.
RELICTA – When racing in restricted room near the 700m, had to be steadied. Hung out rounding the home turn.
HOSTWIN CROWN – Hung out rounding the home turn before weakening in the home straight. When asked to comment on the performance, jockey E Chaves reported that gelding was making an abnormal respiratory noise during the event. A post-race veterinary examination revealed the gelding to have an elevated heart rate and a poor post-race recovery. Trainer A Campton advised that he will have veterinary tests performed in the coming days and advise stewards of the results. Mr Campton also indicated that he would give consideration to sending the horse for a spell. Stewards advised Mr Campton that the gelding would be required to officially trial prior to next racing.
DISTANT SECRET – Cast its near fore plate in running. Began awkwardly and lost significant ground.
MANDALONG FLAG – Due to transportation difficulties, was declared a late scratching by order of the stewards at 1:27pm.
Following the running of race 8, the track was downgraded to a soft 7.
Race 9: EVENTS @ IEEC.COM.AU BM75 Handicap 1100 metres
HIGH COST – Steadied approaching the 800m from the heels of CELESTIAL SOL. After passing the 200m, was momentarily held up and reluctant to improve into a tight run.
HARD STRIDE – Steadied approaching the 800m from the heels of CELESTIAL SOL.
MAYA BAY – Began awkwardly.
POETIC CHOICE – Slow to begin.
THREE STRIPES – Began awkwardly. Laid in under pressure over the concluding stages.
Race 10: THE IPSWICH QUARTER BM60 Handicap 1350 metres
DIANA'S AFFAIR – Began awkwardly and lost ground. Jockey J Orman reported that after being slow to begin, he settled further back in the field than intended. He also added that his mount didn’t appreciate the rain affected track conditions.
BANDIT – Raced wide.
HYDE – Connections advised of the intention to ride the gelding further back in the field from the wide barrier. After being slow to begin, settled at the tail of the field.
SQUEEZE DIS – Began awkwardly. Approaching the 1100m, improved onto the heels of DIANA’S AFFAIR and had to be steadied. Raced wide from the 700m. Jockey A Mallyon reported that just prior to the start being affected, his mount lifted its near hind leg up onto the barrier patrician, causing it to begin very awkwardly and lose ground. He also added that the mare felt awkward in its action over the final 400m. A post-race veterinary examination failed to reveal any abnormalities.
VISUAL ELEMENT – Slow to begin. After passing the 1000m, whilst racing in restricted room, apprentice J Molloy reported that due to the kickback and a lack of visibility, he was concerned that he was improving onto heels, and as a result steadied and lost ground.
MILAGRO – Slipped on jumping and lost ground. Raced wide.
BULLET FORCE – Raced wide until the 800m.
EPAUVESCENT – Began awkwardly and lost ground.
