Stanley +1kg Race 1: ST PATRICK DAY RACES QTIS Two-Year-Old Handicap 800 metres SZABO – Slow to begin then bumped heavily shortly afterwards, causing rider and horse to become significantly unbalanced. Held up for clear running rounding the home turn until the 200m when SZABO shifted out and bumped with MISHANI FLASH. Jockey B. Andrew was reprimanded for careless riding under the provisions of AR131(a) for this incident. MISHANI FLASH – Fractious in barrier. Whilst weakening was inconvenienced near the 200m when SZABO shifted out. ASSYMETRY – Slow to begin, hampered and lost ground shortly after the start. APACHE MINTO – Heavily bumped on jumping by MISHANI CIENNA which shifted in. MISHANI CIENNA – Raced wide throughout. Race 2: FOLLOW @IPSWICHTURFCLUB QTIS Three-Year-Old BENCHMARK 60 Handicap 1350 metres CASROCK – Fractious in the barrier and as a result was slow to begin. ALFA LILY – Rider S. Collett reported at scale that in her opinion, the filly was disappointing and she could offer no explanation for the performance of ALFA LILY, other than to say the filly may have come to end of its preparation. A post race veterinary examination revealed no significant abnormalities. Trainer M. Nolan stated that, in light of today’s performance he will consider sending the filly for a short spell, and or dropping the filly back in distance and have her ridden further back in the field. LADY WARDELL – Held up rounding home turn for a short distance. KALEA – Fractious in the barrier and as a result was slow to begin. Race 3: THE BARN FAMILY RESTAURANT Colts, Geldings and Entires Class 2 Handicap 1100 metres Following the running of race 2, the track was upgraded to a Good (4). CLAIRVUE STAR – Jockey J. Orman reported that despite being wide throughout he was disappointed in the gelding’s effort over the concluding stages. Underwent a post race veterinary examination which revealed no significant abnormalities. BEPPE – Began awkwardly. Over raced during the early stages when restraining to obtain cover. Held up for clear running when rounding the home turn. MAXIE TAP (NZ) – Over raced during the early stages when restraining to obtain cover. Race 4: WOUNDED HEROES AUSTRALIA Fillies and Mares Class 2 Handicap 1100 metres CHANEL (NZ) – Began awkwardly. Held up rounding the home turn until approaching the 200m. BRAZETTI – Lost off hind plate in running. Race 5: TAB BENCHMARK 65 Handicap 1100 metres LE HEROS – Raced wide throughout. VAST KAMA – Obliged to race in restricted room between the 500m and the 400m. BEAU ARROW – Raced wide throughout. MASON'S CHANCE – Slowly into stride. WINE NOT ROSES – Held up for clear running from the 500m until the leaving the 300m. Lost near fore plate in running. Race 6: BRAD CARR MEMORIAL Maiden Handicap 1200 metres Stewards declared SAKIMARJUEL a late scratching at 10.25am after trainer Mr T. Edmonds made application to race the gelding barefoot behind due to the horse being unable to be shod. After discussions with Mr Edmonds, it was established that the gelding has at no stage been plated behind, and as this gear request should have been made at an earlier timeframe, it was denied by Stewards. YUKANUMA – Jockey L. Tilley reported that he was obliged to pressure the horse throughout the event as the gelding did not travel comfortably at any stage and was disappointing. He also added, that in his option, YUKANUMA would also benefit from the addition of blinkers. A post race veterinary examination revealed no significant findings. ROMAN HUSSLER – Raced wide and inclined to hang out throughout. BAILEY BOO – Raced wide throughout. BETTER BELIEVE IT – Held up for clear running rounding the home turn and in the early stages of the home straight. SILK SASH – Steadied from heels approaching the 700m when the pace slackened and raced wide from that point onwards. SPOT ON READY – After becoming fractious in the tie up stalls, underwent a pre race veterinary examination and was cleared to start. Slow to begin. Laid out under pressure in the home straight. A warning was placed on the gelding’s racing manners. Race 7: JESSIE BIRD MEMORIAL BENCHMARK 62 Handicap 1666 metres ZADIG – Declared a late scratching at 4.10pm on veterinary advice after becoming fractious in barriers and becoming cast. Prior to the declaration of correct weight, Stewards ordered that all monies invested on ZADIG to be refunded with the following deductions: 1st SMOKEY DIAMOND – 54c win, 47c place2nd CHICA BONITA – 59c The trainers’ representative for Mr M. Currie was advised that ZADIG will be required to obtain two barrier certificates prior to racing again. SMOKEY DIAMOND – Molloy - Held up for clear running for a short distance approaching the 400m. SPIRIT OF BEANS –Near the 1350m, had to be steadied off heels of VAN GOGH. Appentice T. Townsend was reprimanded for careless riding regarding this incident. VAN GOGH – Townsend – Reluctant to hold its position when obliged to race in restricted room approaching the 200m. Apprentice Townsend was also reprimanded under the provisions of AR132(7)(a)(ii) in that she used her whip on seven occasions prior to the 100m, being two more than permitted. Reluctant to hold its potision when obliged to race in restricted room approaching the 200m. ROADHOUSE – Taylor - ALIRAAJ (NZ) – Collett – Declared a late scratching at 4.11pm after refusing to load. Trainer Mr M. Kropp was advised that ALIRAAJ will be required to obtain two barrier certificates prior to racing again. Prior to the declaration of correct weight, Stewards ordered that all monies invested on ALIRAAJ to be refunded with the following deductions:1st SMOKEY DIAMOND – 21c win, 19c place2nd CHICA BONITA – 36c Trainer Mr M. Race 8: TAB IPSWICH CUP EARLY BIRD TIX ON SALE OPEN Handicap 1200 metres HAUNTED – Hung out when rounding the home turn. TARA JASMINE - Had difficulty securing clear running on entering the home straight. THE GENERAL (NZ) – After being steadied from the heels of OVIDIUS approaching the 800m, over raced until entering the home straight. Jockey M. Savva, rider of OVIDIOUS, was reprimanded for careless riding regarding this incident. Race 9: EASTER RACES 10 APRIL Class 4 Handicap 1350 metres DIAMONDS'N'STONES – Jockey J. Stanley commented that the gelding over raced early whilst leading, and commenced to weaken badly in the home straight and he was disappointed in the overall effort of the gelding. A post race veterinary examination revealed no significant abnormalities. DIXON BAY – Laid in under pressure in the home straight. AVOCA – Raced wide throughout. CALM SEEKER (NZ) – Over raced when attempting to obtain cover near the 1000m, and then approaching the 900m shifted wider, and raced wide for the remainder of the event.
