Race 1: FOLLOW @IPSWICHTURFCLUB QTIS Two-Year-Old Maiden Handicap 800 metres

SIDE SHOW SALLY – Near the 700m, steadied from the heels of I AM THOR.

YELLOWSTONE BETH – Began awkwardly. Near the 650m, began to race ungenerously before bucking for some distance and effectively taking no competitive part in the event. Trainer L Hatch was advised that the filly would be required to trial to the satisfaction of stewards prior to next racing.

MISS DE BLAAS – Began awkwardly.

WINNING REFLECTION – Vey slow to begin. Near the 650m, was inconvenienced and shifted in abruptly when YELLOWSTONE BETH shifted in.

I AM THOR – When question ed regarding the seemingly improved performance, co-trainer R Tyrell explained that following the two most recent starts over 1000m, both when leading, he was of the opinion that the colt is best suited to shorter distances and he would look to place the colt similarly in future starts.

Race 2:  TAB Class 1 Plate 2180 metres

MARIINSKY – Slow to begin. Jockey J Morris reported that after beginning moderately he ideally would of like to be positioned a pair more forward in the small field, however he was mindful of its last start on a rain affected surface where it proved disappointing and was content to allow the gelding to settle where it was comfortable. Stewards noted his comments. Jockey J Morris was reprimanded pursuant to AR132(5) for using his whip excessively in the event, that being on 15 occasions.

TAVI PIN (NZ) – Ran wide near the 1600m. Commenced to lay out from the 450m before shifting wider rounding the home turn despite the efforts of its rider. WANDILLA – Raced keenly in the early stages.

Race 3: GREAT NORTHERN OPEN Handicap 1350 metres

MATOWATAKPE – Stewards inquired into the tactics adopted by jockey K Wilson-Taylor on the gelding in particular between the 500m and 150m.
