Race 3: RAY WHITE IPSWICH OPEN Handicap 1100 metres

Correct weight was delayed when connections were given the opportunity to view the photo finish after a dead heat had been declared between ACROBATIC and KAVAK. Correct weight was then further delayed when a protest was lodged by jockey K. Wilson-Taylor alleging interference against the fellow deadheater KAVAK at a point approaching the 800m and again over the concluding stages. After considering the evidence from all participants and reviewing the video footage, Stewards established that at a point near the 800m KAVAK had shifted in, making contact with ACROBATIC, however Stewards were satisfied that ACROBATIC had not lost ground in this incident, and whilst there had been a brush over the concluding stages between these two runners initiated by KAVAK, Stewards were again satisfied that this had no material effect on the finish of the race given its close proximity to the finishing line. Stewards therefore dismissed the objection and declared correct weight on the semaphored numbers 5-3,1, and 8.

TAVISAN (NZ) – Required farrier attention to the off hind in the tie-up stalls, and underwent a pre race veterinary examination on arrival at the barriers. Shortly after start shifted out abruptly.

AFRICAN ZULU – Slow to begin. Jockey M. Cahill commented at that he was caught wide and his mount raced greenly throughout. He further added that, when able to obtain cover near the rear of the field, the gelding then was under pressure and weakened. He also indicated that the gelding would take benefit from the race experience.

ITALIAN AWARD – Hampered on jumping. Laid out under pressure in the home straight.

SUPER FENKEL – Raced wide throughout

EASILY AMUSED – Shifted out on jumping and bumped FLASH PRINCE. Became awkward when bumped on the hindquarters by SEVENTIES HIT near the 400m.

Due to being unable to play the video evidence in a timely manner, Stewards adjourned an inquiry into an incident which resulted in HEROIC INSTINCT having to be checked near the 400m. Approaching the 200m shifted out and made contact with COURS VITE and became unbalanced.

ENOLABA – On jumping, shifted out and bumped FLASH PRINCE.

CREATIVE – Bumped on jumping. Weakened from the 600m. A post race veterinary examination revealed no significant abnormalities. Trainer Mr C. Stewards also advised Mr Anderson that CREATIVE must barrier trial to the satisfaction of Stewards prior to racing again.

A BIT BAZARRE – Near the 1500m eased when placed in restricted room by Huxtable which shifted in. Improved onto the heels of SEVENTIES HIT near the 300m and had to be checked.

Correct weight was delayed when a protest was lodged by jockey M. Du Plessis (rider of fourth placegetter, POPPY JOAN) alleging an incident in the home straight, against third placegetter ALIRAAJ (C. Meehan). After considering the evidence from all participants and reviewing the video footage, Stewards were satisfied that whilst POPPY JOAN was obliged to alter course near the 150m, Stewards decided that this had no material effect on the finish of the race and therefore dismissed the objection and declared correct weight on the semaphored numbers.
