GENERAL

Stewards approved the following overweight allowances -

Race 3 – AWARD ME – James Orman +0.5kg

As Apprentice J Molloy was unable to ride at today’s meeting due to illness, the following replacement riders were permitted:

Race 1: 1 COCOBREW EXPRESS – C Waddell
Race 4: 5 IRONSIDE – M Castle
Race 5: 5 SCHMOOZER – M Castle
Race 8: 5 MISS MCKINLEY – J Lloyd

Stewards permitted Apprentice Jaden Lloyd to only claim down to 53.5kg for today’s meeting.


Race 1: FOLLOW @IPSWICHTURFCLUB QTIS Three-Year-Old
BENCHMARK 65 Handicap 1680 metres

COCOBREW EXPRESS – Began awkwardly. Raced wide during the early stages. Forced wider leaving the 500m by CITY MISSION which shifted out to improve.

MISS CINNAMONCIDER – Jockey L Tilley advised that his mount raced keenly in the early and middle stages whilst leading.

RABBIT STU – Bumped after start. Laid in under pressure in the early stages of the home straight.

UNCOMMON VALOUR – Held up rounding the home turn. Shifted out under pressure in the early stages of the home straight.

CITY MISSION – Began awkwardly. Shifted out under pressure approaching the 100m.

THRILLING AWARD – Bumped after start.

Race 2: TAB QTIS Three-Year-Old Maiden Plate 1200 metres

DARK HARMONY – Raced wide throughout. When questioned regarding the performance, jockey B Thornton stated that the gelding raced very keenly in the early stages when he was endeavoring to obtain cover from the wide barrier however, he was unable to secure a position with cover close to the rail and was obliged to race wide throughout. Jockey Thornton added that considering the circumstances, he was not disappointed with the gelding’s effort. Trainer R Beaton advised stewards that she was not disappointed in the performance of the gelding considering it was obliged to race wide. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no abnormalities.

HELL APPROACHING – Slow to begin.

MANGOS – Began awkwardly. Jockey S Cormack reported that the gelding raced greenly throughout the event and was inclined to lay out in the home straight.

MONEY BEAR – Began awkwardly. Commenced to race fiercely from leaving the 900m and had to be checked from heels approaching the 800m. Continued to race ungenerously until a point approaching the 400m. Trainer C Munce was advised that a warning was placed on the gelding’s racing manners.

BRYDELICIOUS – Approaching the 500m became awkward in its action and laid out.

MA'S EPIC – Began awkwardly and contacted the barrier on jumping.

RUBY LOVES CARROTS – Began awkwardly.

SATASHI – Raced wide throughout.
Race 3: SEVEN FAMILY DAY 27 MAY Maiden Handicap 1200 metres

LANDSBOROUGH LAD – After shifting a hind plate in the horse stall area, the gelding underwent farrier attention and had a pre-race veterinary examination and was cleared to start. Shifted out on jumping and bumped BLUEPRINT. Raced wide early stages.

KINGHAM – Raced wide in the early stages.

BLUEPRINT – Bumped at the start. Laid in under pressure over the concluding stages. Jockey J Bayliss was reminded of his obligations that his whip hand does not go above shoulder height.

CRYPTO TYCOON – Bounded on jumping and lost ground. At the 500m improved onto heels and had to be steadied. Momentarily held up entering the home straight.

AWARD ME – Began awkwardly.

BOOM THE GREAT – Began awkwardly.

CHANCE AT MIDNIGHT – Slow into stride. Held up rounding the home turn.

TIKITIBOO – Commenced to race keenly leaving the 800m and improved onto heels and shifted wider.

Race 4: GREAT NORTHERN Class 2 Handicap 2170 metres

MISSY MOOLA (NZ) – Shifted out leaving the 500m when placed under pressure and again rounding the home turn. Shifted in under pressure leaving the 150m. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no apparent abnormalities, other than a slight cough. When asked to comment on the performance, Jockey A Hyeronimus stated that in his opinion the filly did not appreciate todays racing surface and tended to race greenly when placed under pressure, which he recommended to connections to add blinkers to the filly’s gear. Jockey Hyeronimus further added that whilst disappointed in the performance of MISSY MOOLA, he felt that the weight of 62kg influenced the horse’s finishing effort. When asked to comment on the performance, co trainer A Bott stated that it is their intention to proceed with the filly’s preparation. Mr Bott added that it was the stables preference to have raced the filly at the Sunshine Coast meeting held on Saturday the 6th of May over a shorter distance, however the filly was balloted out of that event resulting in the stable electing to run in today’s event. Mr Bott advised that the stable would report back to stewards should something come to light in the subsequent days regarding today’s performance.

CARBONETTI (IRE) – Rounding the home turn was obliged to check when tightened for room between ROCK UP and MISSY MOOLA, which shifted out when racing greenly under pressure. Leaving the 150m point, became momentarily awkwardly placed at the heels of IRONSIDE and had to be steadied.

ROCK UP (NZ) – Trainer W Bannerot was fined $200 pursuant to LR67(1) for failing to notify a rider within the prescribed time. Laid out rounding the home turn.

IRONSIDE – Began awkwardly and lost ground. Raced keenly approaching the 1400m. Steadied from heels at the 400m. Approaching the 150m shifted out marginally under pressure.

TIME TO TESTIFY – Began awkwardly and shifted out. Raced keenly in the early stages. Obliged to alter course approaching the 200m.

AMALGAMATION – Inconvenienced on jumping. Carried wider rounding the home turn. Shifted in under pressure leaving the 150m resulting in rider S. Collett having to stop riding and straighten the gelding.

GRANDE BAIE (NZ) – Carried out wide out in the home turn. Shifted in under pressure leaving the 150m. Jockey T Marshall was reminded of his obligations that his whip hand does not go above shoulder height.

Race 5: KINGSLEY LAWSON LAWYERS BENCHMARK 65 Handicap 1680 metres

BETTER ETHICS – Began awkwardly.

A BIG CHANCE – Slow to begin.

A CALL FROM HEAVEN – Bumped on several occasions over the final 100m by SCHMOOZER which laid out, causing the mare to become unbalanced approaching the finishing line.

BETTER EXPLAIN – Slow to begin. A post-race veterinary examination revealed the gelding to be lame in its near hind leg. Trainers’ representative, Mr T Pollard was advised that the gelding will require a veterinary certificate prior to next racing.

SCHMOOZER – Began awkwardly. Laid out when placed under pressure in the home straight obliging apprentice M Castle to stop riding and correct on several occasions.

MADAME MO – Slow to begin.

ADALISSA – Raced keenly in the early and middle stages.

Race 6: RAY WHITE IPSWICH Class 1 Plate 1100 metres

HURTS SO GOOD – Slow to begin. Laid in under pressure in the home straight. When questioned regarding the performance, Apprentice A Jones advised that her instructions were to secure a position with cover and after beginning only fairly and in an effort to comply with instructions, she was obliged to race further back in the field than anticipated.

CARRY ON DRAGON – Slow to begin. Raced wide throughout.

CUDDLES – Bumped after start. Raced keenly in the early stages. Approaching the 400m, attempted to shift out to improve however was unable to do so when HURTS SO GOOD held its racing line.

NANO STAR – Bumped after start. Raced keenly in the early stages.

CAESARIS – Approaching the winning post, shifted out under pressure, and brushed DEEP FIRE.

DEEP FIRE – Shifted in on jumping and bumped CUDDLES. Approaching the winning post, laid in and brushed CAESARIS. When questioned regarding the filly’s previous performance, jockey S Cormack advised that DEEP FIRE was not suited by the incline of the Toowoomba track and after having to be exerted to find a forward racing position, weakened its finishing effort. He further added that in today’s event he was able to secure a forward racing position which was of benefit to the filly’s performance.

GOOD GIRL – Began awkwardly and bumped NANO STAR. Approaching the 500m, laid out for a short distance.

LI'L MISSHONKYTONK – Hung in under pressure in the home straight.

Race 7: RIVER 94.9FM BENCHMARK 65 Handicap 1100 metres

SILVER GALAXY – Began awkwardly. Raced wide throughout.

IMMORAL – Began awkwardly.

CONTROLOCRACY – Raced wide in the early and middle stages.

DEEP ROUGE – Trainer B Lockwood was fined $200 pursuant to AR206(2) for failing to submit a gear change request by the prescribed time. Momentarily held up rounding the home turn.

PRETTY DEVINE – Began awkwardly. Raced wide throughout. Rounding the home turn whilst weakening, had to be steadied when awkwardly placed between ORSETTO and SILVER GALAXY which both shifted ground marginally.

ASCOT EXPRESS (NZ) – Began awkwardly.

Race 8: TAB IPSWICH CUP TICKETS ON SALE BENCHMARK 70
Handicap 1200 metres

HARLEQUIN FIELD – Raced wide throughout.

STRAWB – Began awkwardly. Raced wide throughout. A post-race veterinary examination revealed a minor laceration to the off hind fetlock.

PHILLY SPECIAL – Began awkwardly. Raced wide throughout.

VELORUM – Began awkwardly. Raced wide throughout. A post-race veterinary examination revealed the gelding to have bled from both nostrils. Trainer A Briskey was advised that the gelding would now incur a 3 month ban from racing and would be required to gallop 1000m in the presence of a Steward prior to resuming racing or trialling.

DRAMMATICA – Raced keenly in the early and middle stages. Raced wide throughout.

BILLY'S BRO – Began awkwardly. Raced wide throughout. Hung out rounding the home turn.

MAGIC IN ME – Began awkwardly.

HOPEFUL STAR – Slow to begin.
